This Can NOT Be Happening!

Left Hand Man

It was no secret that Lee Sungmin, the owner of a bakery down the street was singlehandedly the most adorable male to walk the streets of Korea.  He had a short stature and soft facial features, which illuminated with femininity.  All the girls of Korea wanted to be like him and all the (gay) guys of Korea wanted to get into his pants.  Sungmin, however, only had his eye on this one male by the name of Cho Kyuhyun.

Kyuhyun was a barista for Sungmin's bakery.  He was the bitter to Sungmin's sweet.  He was the bite to Sungmin's smooth.  To anyone, Kyuhyun was the balance to the irresistibly sweet Sungmin, which is seemingly why Sungmin opted to hire the brunette in the first place.  To Sungmin, Kyuhyun was the ying to his yang.  To Kyuhyun, Sungmin sure as hell was one thing and one thing only: an annoying and overly flirty boss.

On a daily basis, Sungmin would throw subtle, sometimes ual hints at Kyuhyun, and daily, Kyuhyun would accept those words in silence.  He never once threw an insult at the older, knowing full well that his job was on the line.  In the end, he just hoped Sungmin would one day find another victim to toss those words to.

Night after night, Sungmin would dream about Kyuhyun.  He would dream about those slender arms cuddling him on the coldest of nights, where the taller thin male would breathe warm, soothing breaths on the name of the shorter's neck.  He one day wished he could see Kyuhyun's body fully, to be able to smell the scent that laced his freshly washed brunette locks.  Meanwhile, Kyuhyun would dream about ways to mentally demolish the demon that was Sungmin himself.  His most recurring dream would consist of brewing a batch of piping hot coffee, accidentally slipping on the tiled floor, and dumping the whole pot onto the shorter's beautiful, blonde hair.  (Wait, did Kyuhyun really just think Sungmin's hair was beautiful?)

On a stormy summer evening, Friday, July 13th to be exact, Sungmin was closing up shop and mopping the floor, as Kyuhyun stared aimlessly at the rain pattering on the sidewalk outside.

"Kyuhyunnie," Sungmin chimed as he soaked the mop into the water in an effort to rinse off whatever grime it picked up, "Hyung can't do all the work you know!" he fake pouted as he continued to effortlessly mop the floor.

Snapping out of his daze, Kyuhyun muttered an, "Aish, so annoying," before grabbing a mop himself.  He rushed over to the bucket of water, when suddenly - SLAM!  Kyuhyun slid face first onto the tiled floor, blacking out.

--

"Kyuhyunnie~!"

"Kyu?"

"YAH, CHO KYUHYUN!"

Kyuhyun awoke from his slumber in his room.  Mentally drained and unaware of anything that just happened, he glanced around the room.  Everything seemed to be in place, but why was he suddenly hearing --

"Kyubaby!  You're alright!" that same shrill voice spoke, causing a shiver to go down the slender brunette's spine.

"Yah!  Lee Sungmin!  Is that you?  Get out of my house!"  Kyuhyun raised his right hand brushed a few brunette locks of hair out of his face, before slipping into a pair of house slippers and headed into the bathroom.

"Ah, so this is Kyuhyun-ssi's bathroom.  Omooo! ~" the voice squealed, as if whoever the speaker was ended up being right behind Kyuhyun himself.

"What is this?" Kyuhyun mentally facepalmed, looking around again, seeing nothing.  He figured he was going crazy, as his right hand reached for his toothbrush, and the left his toothpaste.

"Here's the toothpaste, Kyubaby!" the voice squealed, as he handed the nearly full bottle.

"UWAH!" Kyuhyun shrieked in fear, as he completely lost hold of the toothbrush.  "What the ?!"  Kyuhyun glanced at his left hand in disbelief.  On his hand was a puppet-like Lee Sungmin.  The thing was, Sungmin wasn't a prop.  Sungmin was his hand.

The blonde controlled Kyuhyun's thumb as his own as he waved at the dumbfounded male.  "Annyeong Kyuhyun-ah!" Sungmin cheekily smiled, as he winked at the owner of the body he was now permanently attached to.

"This can't be happening!" Kyuhyun muttered, still in utter shock.

"Well it is, honey!  I'm your left-hand man." the blonde spoke, full of cuteness.  The kind of cuteness Kyuhyun wanted to strangle.  It was only then that Kyuhyun's eyes sparkled with an evil glint.

"Aish, whatever." the brunette chuckled menacingly.  A little too menacingly.  He wandered back into his room, grabbed a set of clothes and started to strip .

As Kyuhyun was about to tear off his boxers, a bright red blonde feigned innocence.  (Let's be real, Sungmin has imagined Kyuhyun too many times to keep count.)  "Yah!  Cho Kyuhyun!  What are you doing?"

"I'm showering."

"?!"

"How else does one shower?"

Kyuhyun stripped himself of his boxers as the blonde shut his eyes tight.  This wasn't exactly the set of circumstances he'd wish to see his baby .  Not when he was not more than half a foot tall.  Not when he couldn't be the one to caress that soft, milky skin or cleanly scrub that perfect, slender back.  No, Sungmin did not want it to be like this, but it couldn't be helped.

Kyuhyun let the water run, as Sungmin continued closing his eyes.  The younger male stepped into the water, turned it down a lot, and stuck his left hand under the running faucet.

"AIYAYAYA cold!" Sungmin bellowed, earning an amused roar of laughter from Kyuhyun.  "Yah!  What was that for?!"  Kyuhyun involuntarily moved his pinky and thumb on his left hand to warm the shivering Sungmin.  Something about seeing this cold, helpless male was alluring.

"Alright, no more pranks.  But I need to shower, Sungmin."  The brunette cranked up the water and began to cleanse himself.

Sungmin peaked with one eye open, as he witnessed Kyuhyun struggle to wash his hair with only one hand.  "K-kyuhyunnie?  Do you want me to scrub?" Sungmin shyly whispered for the first time, causing the bathing male to twitch nervously.

"Aish, I thought your eyes were closed!" Kyuhyun hollered at his hand in embarrassment.

"I-I'm sorry." Sungmin protested, "I'll close them again now."

--

It took Kyuhyun a good hour to fully bathe and clothe himself properly without making Sungmin uncomfortable.  In fact, he was starting to wonder for himself why he was catering so much to a male that he despised so much.  Kyuhyun did slightly feel for the male though; how would the bakery be run without the owner?  The brunette did a lot of thinking, while on his way to the shop.

"Boss," Kyuhyun called, talking to his hand once more.  He was oblivious to a few bystanders who stared at him as if he belonged in an insane asylum.  "How are you going to run the shop today?"

"I-I uh.  Well," Sungmin panicked, trying to think of some sort of improvisation, "I was hoping you could run the shop.  A-at least until things are normal again."  Kyuhyun stared blankly at his left hand.  When no response came, Sungmin briskly continued, "Come on, Kyu.  We're going to be late.  Is the plan okay?"

"Oh, fine." Kyuhyun mentally facepalmed.  In a sense, he had an obligation to keep the shop running.  No bakery, no job.  No job, no money and no house.

"Thank you so much, Kyuhyunnie!" Sungmin beamed, as he forced Kyuhyun's left hand forward to wring around his neck.  Sungmin could live in that moment forever.  He held on for what seemed like seconds, before Kyuhyun started gasping for air.

"Kyuhyun, is tha- WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" a familiar voiced stammered in fear.  "Are you choking yourself?!"  Sungmin abruptly let go of Kyuhyun's neck and whispered a light apology, before pretending not to exist.

"Ah, hyung!" Kyuhyun chuckled, as he ruffled his hair with his left hand, allowing Sungmin to relish the smell of the brunette's freshly washed hair.

This isn't how I wanted this to happen.  For the second time since this awkward transformation, the tiny blonde was feeling down.  Sure he wanted to be the one to see Kyuhyun's breathtaking body and smell his freshly washed hair, but as another human.  He didn't want to be this freak of nature growth on Kyuhyun's hand!

"Kyuhyun-ah!"  Donghae tugged at the younger's arm.  "I'm really worried about you, you know?"

"Is that why you checked on me?" Kyuhyun chuckled.  "Hyung, I'm fine.  Just going to work.  You know, the usual!"

"But you've been going home every night complaining about that babo manager of yours."  Donghae sighed and spoke again, "I just don't want you stressed over Sun-"

"Hyung, please stop worrying.  I'm okay, see?  Promise!"  Kyuhyun felt a pang of guilt in his chest, but smiled broadly enough to fool an oblivious Donghae.  "I really have to go to work now, okay?  Thanks for checking on me, Hae."  Kyuhyun hugged the elder and walked into the shop, hiding a saddened Sungmin.

As soon as Kyuhyun walked into the bakery, he was about half an hour early.  He decided to rush into the restroom while nobody was around.  He locked the door, feeling the urge to speak to Sungmin.

"Sungmin, I'm sorry!" Kyuhyun spoke, knowing he heard every single word that escaped Donghae's poison-filled lips.

"No, Kyuhyunnie-I, uh mean Kyuhyun.  I'm sorry."  Sungmin hung his head in shame.  "I didn't know I was that annoying to you.  I'll stop, okay?  Well, when things are normal again.  Let's just get out and open up shop, okay?"  The blonde had put up a happy facade in hopes of making his crush feel less bad about the situation.  Kyuhyun merely nodded and walked out the bathroom.

--

That day, the bakery was surprisingly quiet.  After explaining to a few skeptical employees and showing them his left hand, everyone allowed Kyuhyun to run things the way he wanted.  Or, at least, the way he felt Sungmin would have wanted.  It was the last thing the slender brunette could do after what his hand had overheard mere hours before.

One thing that seemed disappointingly out of place was the lack of flirtatious words that would escape the tiny blonde's lips.  Kyuhyun didn't get embarrassed or flattered by a driven owner; rather, today, when nobody spoke such hints at the brunette, he couldn't help but to feel a little...empty.

As the bakery was coming to a close, Kyuhyun began locking the doors up.

"Kyu, did you need help closing up today?" Ryeowook, a baker in the back had asked.  He was one of the people who knew Kyuhyun was only able to use one hand to run things today.

"Talk to the hand." Kyuhyun muttered, making the shorter male gasp in a look of shock.

"Excuse me?!  Yah!  I'm just offering to help!" Ryeowook uttered defensively, only to hear Kyuhyun's left hand chuckle lightly.

"Wookie-yah!  Don't talk to Kyuhyun like that!"

"Oh.  Ohmygosh," Ryeowook gasped, covering his mouth, "I'm so sorry.  I must have forgotten."  The male bowed at Kyuhyun and Sungmin apologetically.

"It's okay, Wookie.  Can you help Kyuhyun mop the floor?"  Ryeowook nodded at the request and brought out a bucket and two mops.  The petite male started to wet the floor as Kyuhyun reached out for a mop, sensing a bit of deja vu.  He walked toward the bucket and - SLAM!  Kyuhyun slid face first onto the tiled floor, blacking out.

--

"Kyuhyunnie~!"

"Kyu?"

"YAH, CHO KYUHYUN!"

Kyuhyun regained consciousness as he pushed himself up onto his knees with both hands.  Wait, both hands?  Where did Sungmin go?

"Kyubaby!  You're alright!" that same shrill voice spoke, causing a shiver to go down the slender brunette's spine.

"B-baby?" Kyuhyun mumbled incoherently, before he rubbed his eyes, trying to figure out where that voice was coming from.

Suddenly a pair of arms wrapped themselves around Kyuhyun's neck from behind, as he continued sitting on his knees, rubbing soothing circles onto his forehead.  "ASDFGH!  Yah!" Kyuhyun pushed the arms away, partially due to the shock of someone grabbing him.

"GET OFF HIM!" Donghae yelled.  He ran over to make sure Kyuhyun was okay.  "He's already stressed enough as it is because of you."  Donghae shook his head, trying to help his friend up.

Kyuhyun froze in his spot.  It's not like Sungmin needed to be reminded for a second time how much of a nuisance he is - or was.  "Ah, Hae, I'm okay really!" Kyuhyun ruffled his brunette locks with his left hand once more.

"No, no you're not, Kyu!" Donghae shrieked.  "I'm your best friend and you tell me EVERYTHING.  The way this guy treats you," Donghae pointed his finger at the short blonde, "is not right!"

Sungmin's doe eyes widened as he stared at the conversation taking place between Donghae and Kyuhyun.  "I didn't know I was that annoying to you," Sungmin spoke barely above a whisper before exiting the bakery.

Feeling a sense of deja vu, Kyuhyun decided to fight back.  As Kyuhyun's left hand man, Sungmin brought to his life a sense of cheerfulness that did not exist without him.  He recognized this, finally, so he hastily crawled on his hands and knees to the exit and pushed it open.  Using it as a crutch to get onto his feet, he got up, holding his head again.  "Aish.  Sungmin!  Yah, Lee Sungmin, where are you?"

"I'm fine Kyuhyun," Sungmin called, a few feet from the bakery's entrance.  Rain was still pattering on the sidewalk as thunder crashed and lightning flashed.  "I'm really sorry.  I'll stop, okay?"

All the words being spat out of Sungmin's mouth sounded so familiar.  So disappointingly familiar, as if he's heard it before.  Kyuhyun hesitated for a moment, before realizing that some of these were the exact words his left hand told him!

"Look, Sungmin.  I don't want you to stop.  You might be irritating and you might flirt with me too much, but I don't want it to stop.  I like it."

"It's okay, Kyuhyun.  I know the truth now.  Your best friend basically slammed me in the face with it, but at least I now know."

"Would you stop it?" Kyuhyun rushed over to Sungmin.  (Well, as fast a limping male could.)

Kyuhyun cupped Sungmin's cheeks and looked into his eyes.  Upon seeing a look of genuine hurt and rejection, he chuckled lightly.  "Please don't stop.  I've witnessed it once, and I will miss it if you do.  I'll miss you."

Sungmin let a single tear escape his eye, as he stared into Kyuhyun's dark, but alluring eyes.  "Do you mean it?"  Sungmin spoke in an uncertain and, quite honestly, a confused manner.

"Yes, Min, I do."  He smiled as he pulled the shorter blonde male into a warm embrace.  The shorter male wrapped his arms around Kyuhyun's neck, giving the latter another sense of deja vu.

"Yah, Min!  Are you trying to choke me again?" Kyuhyun playfully asked while chuckling.

"Again?!" Sungmin looked taken aback.  "When have I ever tried?"
