Today.

Carrot

Today, was a normal day.

It was just another lazy Saturday. Well, not so lazy for Chen. Here the poor boy was, in his dorm, running around and finishing errands.

"HYUNG!" he called out. "WHERE DID ALL THE FOOD GO?!"

"Oh, you mean the leftovers?" Xiumin popped his head out. Chen stared at him. "Tao ate all of them."

"... Then what are we having for lunch? Or dinner?"

His friend shrugged. "Pizza, I guess."

"Aish. Pizza again. Don't you guys ever get tired of pizza?"

"Actually, I'm sick of it. But hey, it's cheap. If not, go buy something. Or cook for us."

Chen dragged himself to get his stuff. "Fine... I'll cook. I'll be back in half an hour. Anything you want?"

Suddenly, Tao came running out of his room. "HYUNG! BUY ME SOME ICE-CREAM!"

Chen gave him a flat look. "You ate all the food."

"And we need soap," Lay added.

"Carrots," Luhan threw in.

"Well... I need a car," Kris randomly said.

Chen wrote all of the said things down, and gave his leader a flat look. "... I need a car too." He pulled his hood up and grabbed his wallet and sped out the door before his flatmates could tell him more.

He walked to the nearby supermarket and looked through his list. "Okay. Bananas, Cereal, Mince, Cheese, Carrots, Soap, Shampoo, and Conditioner," he mumbled to himself. "Aish I have to pay for all this." He ruffled his hair in frustration and he went out to look for the items.

He was in the confectionery section, when he heard a girl mumbling to herself. "Seriously worms? Yuck I wonder why they would even think of eating such a thing. It's like eating my teddy bear. I haven't washed it for a month," she muttered, completely oblivious of others around her. Yup, she was minding her business.

And Chen should be too. He headed for the counter and put all of the items on the queue. He had finished paying for them, and checked his checklist as he was heading out the door. But he noticed one thing was missing.

Carrots.

"AISH. Should I go and get them, or should I not?" he pondered. "Luhan better thank me for this." He gave in as he went back inside to look for the carrots. As he neared them, he saw a girl. A stunningly beautiful girl, might he add. Her hair was tied in a messy bun, and she had glasses on. Effortless. She was looking around for something.

He snapped back to reality and got the carrots on the top shelf. As he was about to leave, he heard someone talking. "Aish the ing carrots are all the way at the top. I think I need a trampoline to get up there. Ahh how do I get it?" He heard her pause for a while. "What if," she muttered, her voice a bit lower now. "I climb on that man's head, and snatch it before he can grab me? But wait, he might be a . Ahh how do I get it--"

"Uhh excuse me miss, do you need help getting the carrots?" Chen turned around and asked. She blinked.

"Me? Carrots? Oh pshh I can reach them myself." She waved him off. He chuckled a bit.

"Well, I couldn't help but overhear your uh... conversation... with yourself. It seemed like you needed help." Chen bit back a smile as he looked at the pretty girl in front of him.

"Converse? With myself? I do that?" she looked at him through her glasses with big eyes. "I don't converse with myself. Sure, sometimes I say things out loud but it's normally what I do like, you know..." she muttered to herself again.

Chen laughed at her, and she looked at him, surprised. "Why are you laughing?" she asked in complete seriousness.

"Nothing, it's just..." he laughed. "Okay. Do you want the carrots, or not?"

She looked at him for a while, wide-eyed. "Uhh... should I get it, or should I not?" she debated with herself for a moment. She looked away once she reached her verdict, ashamed to ask for help. "Uhh could you please get me the carrots?" she said in a low voice.

"Excuse me?" he taunted. "I couldn't hear you."

"Would you pass me the carrots please?" she said, her voice just a teensy bit louder.

"What?"

"PASS ME THE GODDAMN CARROTS!"

Realizing what she had done, she covered in embarassment. "Oh my god. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry." She randomly broke out the sorry sorry dance.

Chen laughed once again and passed her the carrots. "Here."

She took it from him. As she opened to say thank you, she closed it again. "Uhh... I guess you're not a ," she said instead.

Chen looked at her, trying to bite back his laughter. "Uhh... I'll take that as a compliment." He gave her one of his killer smiles, and she blushed.

She turned around to hide her blush. "Oh god, he's actually quite handsome," she mumbled to herself.

"Hey," Chen tapped her. She turned around. "Can I uh... get your number? You seem like a pretty interesting person." He smiled again.

"My... number?" she asked, pointing to herself. "Should I give him my home phone? Oh wait, my mother might answer it. Oh I guess I'll just give him my mobile." She looked at him and started reciting her number.

He took a peak at her while writing her number on a piece of paper. She had her eyes closed as she recited her number, and he couldn't help but think of how cute she looked. "Thanks," he said once she finished.

She started smiling but she was cut off when she felt her phone vibrate against her thigh. "Oh crap. I'm late for dinner." She turned to him and smiled. "It was nice meeting you..." she looked around as if looking for a tag.

"Chen," he said, smiling. He extended his hand.

She stared at it for while as if it was a foreign object. "Oh right, I'm supposed to shake it," she muttered to herself. She shook his hand. "Minhee." She checked her watch. "Well uhh.. Chen, I gotta go. It was... surprisingly... nice to meet you. At least you're not a . I'll see you around." She smiled at him discreetly.

"Alright Minhee. I'll see you." He watched her walk away. He kissed the packet of carrots he held in his hand. "Because of you," he talked to the bag of carrots. "I got to meet a very pretty chick. I love you carrots. I will eat you well."

He came back to their dorm, blissfully smiling.

"What are you smiling about, Chen?" Luhan asked, noticing his happy attitude.

"I love you Luhan," he said, Minhee's weirdness already rubbing off him. "Thank you for making me buy carrots." He bowed to him.
