Chapter 1: First day in Beijing.

Hot weather, unable to speak with the language, there was a problem with my visa and whatever—I didn’t really pay attention and also I couldn’t get the whole information since the immigrant service officers were speaking in Mandarin—they asked to wait for about two hours.

“, it’s so hot here.” I mumbled.

“Yup, it’s really hot,”

I turned my head to see who replied my mumbling in Korean. I was pretty sure that people in this room were all Chinese. It was a tall guy with brown hair, a cute hat who just entered the room and he looked like a normal teenager to me. I blinked, he smiled, “What’s problem made you here?”

“I don’t know. They speak in alien language I don’t understand,” I answered him honestly. He chuckled, “Did they check your documents?” I nodded to respond his question.

He walked to the front desk and spoke in Mandarin. I gasped, realizing that he was a Chinese and I just said that his nation language was alien language. Nice, you screwed your image even in your first day in Beijing, I cursed myself.

He waved his hand to me, “Come here.”

I got up and approached him. He pointed some papers and giving me a ballpoint, “Actually, you didn’t do anything wrong but to sign here. You come for holiday, business, studying or anything else? Check the option given and sign.”

I looked at him. He shrugged, “Well, I think you misunderstood for this matter, miss,” he sneaked to my document and smiled, “And after you do this, you can leave this hot, annoying and full of aliens place immediately.”

I rolled my eyes. I took over the ballpoint he handed to me, and put a check on ‘business’ option then signing the paper. He chuckled and it made me looking up at him and asked, “Why?”

He shook his head, “Nope.”

I finished signing the documents; he took the papers and gave them to the person next to the desk. He spoke Korean so fluently, and now I confused. Was he a Chinese who knows Korean so well, or a Korean who speaks Chinese? He turned his body and said, “Your stuffs. Good luck for your business.”

I nodded, “Thanks.”

“Don’t mention it,” he walked away and waving to someone who just came, I supposed it was his friend, because in the next minutes, they were into conversation. I pulled my suitcase and pushed the door. Finally, I got over this stupid matter.

It had been two hours after I finally got out from the immigrant office and now I stood like a stupid retards, staring at those symbol, alphabets, Mandarin words or whatever everywhere. I couldn’t read them—at all. I cursed myself for wasted my money to be here, but I ended up making myself totally like an idiot in an unknown planet. Escaping to China was the worst decision I’ve ever made, so far.

I had stopped a cab and asked the driver to take me to the apartment which I’d reserved. As long as I remembered, and I was clearly sure that my eyes weren’t blind to know that there was no one the buildings in front of me was the apartment where I supposed to stay.

I really wanted to ask someone, but what could I do if I couldn’t speak Mandarin at all. I took of my phone, typed the sentences I would say and translated them to Mandarin—even though I wasn’t a hundred percent trust the translation online site. Blame me because I didn’t own a great phone with voice automatic translator applicat
