Cliffhanger

By definition, it is a suspenseful situation occurring at the end of a chapter, scene, or episode.

Well… that’s what I thought. But is it really?

Because the definition is far more different than the one I’m in at this very moment.

Literally…

Hanging by a branch of an old oak tree from a cliff, my definition of cliffhangers changed as the forest below my dangling legs had its mouth wide open for me, inviting me to let go the branch and fall into its mercy.

But that’s not all there is to it.

The worst nightmare was the switching back of my soul to my own body that was desperately trying to save me from falling off.

And that’s when it happened.

As my arms had nearly given up on holding the branch for my dear life and to save the body of the soul currently in my own body, I found myself back on the edge of the cliff; looking down while body leaning forward to save the body hanging down from falling.

That body…belonged to the person not only who I claim to be my best friend.

But also the person I’ve grown to dearly love with all my heart and soul.

That person…

Is my Donghae…

The unexpected switching back to our own bodies had taken me by surprise but the surprise for Donghae was too swift to recover from.

Especially since he was the one struggling down with that oak tree now.

His body finally accepted the invitation from the forest below.

Yes.

He fell.

My name is Hyukjae and this is my story.

And it all started two months back.

    On this very same cliff.

        This very same time…

Length: Might be short. How short, I don't know. But this might be my first ever short fic.
