Chaotic End

A Created Wretch: The One Who Wished for Freedom

Nichkhun didn’t know what to think or do. He was way too exhausted. The Luna clan were supposed to be meeting up with them too. Another whole load of information he wasn’t prepared to receive yet. The four sat on a couch in a lounge close to where Wooyoung was resting. Junho shifted closer to him and leaned against the back. Their hands barely touched, but he could feel his tension. Chansung and Taecyeon sat on the other side of Junho. It was weird. He didn’t know why, but their seating arrangement seemed significant. Shaking his head he tilted his head upwards towards the ceiling. A soft sigh escaped Junho’s lips and he turned to him.

“You look deep in thought, Junho,” he murmured.

“I’ve never sensed the bond before...” He replied quietly. “You know, I’m beginning to realise how sheltered of a life we’ve lived up until now.” Nichkhun couldn’t help but nod. Even with all the years he and Wooyoung spent together, he still had much to learn. “I can’t imagine what he’s gone through...we’ve only seen glimpses.”

Quite painful glimpses, they were. Nichkhun shifted and said, “there’s a long history in this coven, but...I’m worried. I remember when Wooyoung used to talk quite fondly of his master...” It could never have been Helios he spoke of. After all the trouble the ex-Council member caused Wooyoung, there was just no way Wooyoung could be fond of him. “But now I’m thinking, I don’t know which he was referring to.”

“Yeah...” Chansung agreed, surprisingly. “I remember in my early years asking him who made him. He said I might meet him one day. I knew he was an Ancient, but I guess it never really clicked. He implied that the thing...ah, well the circumstances around his creation weren’t terrible. I guess it was because he was actually born an immortal and not created with a choice?”

Nichkhun froze. Wooyoung was born the way he was. Shaking his head, he gripped his pants tight. No one is ever born into a life of pain for any particular reason, it’s just circumstance. But, sometimes, one couldn’t help feeling it was for a reason. Nichkhun knew well enough that wasn’t the case. It was always your choice what you made of your life, he knew that. Wooyoung changed his life because that was what he wanted. He could have went along with Helios at any point, surrendered himself completely, but he didn’t. He fought for his freedom. While he didn’t have it, he still fought for it, and that spoke volumes to Nichkhun.

“Yeah...that seems like it.” Junho said quietly, uncomfortably. “We just know he’s lied to keep things a secret...he was that terrified.”

Nichkhun couldn’t help but nod. He saw Wooyoung’s fear, the night of the attack. He saw it when Wooyoung realised he was the one that injured Junho and Taecyeon. He smiled to himself. How could you call someone like that a monster?

Taecyeon exhaled noisily and collapsed back into the couch. “So, no one really knows anything about this Helios guy?”

Nichkhun rubbed his temple, “well...I just know he was exiled. I didn’t realise it was because of Wooyoung and how he treated him.” Why were the Council so secretive about Helios? Wouldn’t it be better if everyone knew about him? It made him curious. “I wonder how far back it goes because it isn’t really clear.”

“What about combining forces with Fortune and Luna?” Taecyeon furthered. “Has that happened before?”

“I’ve only ever seen Sano and Marigold at the meetings. I’m too young to know how far back the allegiances are between the clans – but I do know Wooyoung has history with Sano, too.” He recalled the way Sano was so intimate with Wooyoung. It made him blush. Honestly, what was it with these Luna guys and their impressive auras? He was tired all of a sudden. He was tempted to go and lie down with Wooyoung. Rubbing his shoulder, he added, “apparently Zahi is the leader of Luna but he never attends meetings.”

“And he’s supposedly coming for training and fighting?” Junho asked with resignation. “Well...” he perked up a little. “I’d be curious to see who Wooyoung is bonded to and why he had such a hold over him.”

                “I think we all are.”

“Anyway...we should get some rest.” Junho gestured to Taecyeon. “It would be best to get to the Old Forest by morning, so we have the day to look for what we need.”

“Good point...” Taecyeon said and got to his feet. Surprised when Taecyeon held out his hand to him, Nichkhun took it. “You coming, Chansung.”

“I know where I stand.” He dismissed and walked in the opposite direction.

The three looked after him until he was out of sight.

“As this goes on, it just keeps getting harder.” Junho murmured. “Can we really just let him walk away like that?”

“We don’t have a choice right now.” Nichkhun urged and motioned for them to walk. “I’m sure you’d rather be resting with Wooyoung anyway.”

“No...I think it would be best to prepare for tomorrow. It would put my mind at ease. I’d rather our location not be broadcasted to those we don’t trust.” Junho said as he rubbed his forehead. “Will you be staying with Wooyoung, Nichkhun?”

“Are you avoiding him now?” Nichkhun wondered knowingly. The tensing of Junho’s shoulders gave him away immediately. “Go stay with him, Junho. I can help Taecyeon pack your things.”

Junho made to shake his head but Taecyeon cupped his face. “Junho, go rest, alright?”

Nichkhun couldn’t help but smile. Try as he might to hide it, it was obvious that Junho had affections for Taecyeon. The mage pushed him back and stormed over to Wooyoung’s room. Satisfied, Nichkhun looked up at the tall man. “So, you and Junho huh?”

“It was an accident.” Taecyeon groaned and covered his face.

Nichkhun chuckled. “Don’t try and hide it from me. I know you care about him a lot.” Nichkhun motioned for him to follow. “Wooyoung already said in front of Changmin and Chansung that you were going to the Old Forest, do you think that’s okay?”

“I don’t know...but I know the forest has dense protective wards on it. If something is on us, it should be taken off there.” Taecyeon followed him to another room. “I...Nichkhun, I just don’t get it.” Turning back to the youngest, Nichkhun noticed a forlorn and dispassionate expression on his face.

                “What’s wrong?”

“It feels like he’s here but he’s not,” Taecyeon touched his chest. “It hurts so much still...like a part of me was ripped away and it just won’t heal.”

Nichkhun saddened and stood before him. “The pain fades in time. The fact that you feel it is good, because, it means he is still alive.”

"Of course he is, we just saw him." Hope returned to the Third’s eyes. “How’s your shoulder?”

“It’s still tense but I’ll survive. Listen, I'm really suspicious of Chansung. If he's as important as everyone says, why is he acting so...conspiratorally?” Something moved out of the corner of his eye. He turned abruptly to the door. Taecyeon too, turned towards the entrance.

                “What is it?”

Nichkhun tilted his head and walked out into the hallway. There was no one.

“You’re freakin’ me out...what if was Chansung and you insulted him?!”

Stepping back into the room, Nichkhun scratched his head. “I really wish we could have left tonight.”

Taecyeon hugged himself and nodded. "I don't get it, why do you suspect him?"

"Well...he said he was my First. I've been thinking about it and thinking...why would I make Wooyoung take my memories away? Why of Chansung only? Don't you find that a little suspicious?" Taecyeon looked troubled. "Personally, and knowing myself, I don't think I would want my memories taken...it would cause a hindrance and work against us - like it's doing now."

"I never thought about it that way..." Taecyeon mumbled. They rounded up the gear and packed it away in a tense silence. When they were done they walked carefully towards Wooyoung’s room.

“Ne, Nichkhun...I’ve always wondered. Why does Wooyoung call you prince?”

Nichkhun clenched the bag in his hand tightly. Looking down at the floor he closed his eyes. “I...when I was human, I...” He saw it again, the figure. The purple cloak. He pulled Taecyeon into Wooyoung’s room and locked the door. A low hiss sounded on the other side. Taecyeon had snagged his wrist and pulled him back.

Both nearly screamed as they were grabbed from behind. Junho eyed them curiously but turned his gaze on the door. “They can’t pass through.” He whispered. “When I came to the room, I saw the flash of that purple cloak. I coded your signatures to the door.”

                “What is it?” Taecyeon asked.

“That person we saw in the hall the other night.”

Nichkhun turned back to the bed. Wooyoung still slept soundly, or at least, he appeared to be.

“They could be the culprit. We should take them out now-

“No!” Nichkhun hissed. “Whoever it is they did something to me, they’ve affected Wooyoung in some way, and they have potentially warped Chansung." Junho sent him a confused look but Taecyeon nodded in agreement. "This is too dangerous. For now, we’ll go with the plan. You two have to go to the Old Forest. I will stay with Wooyoung and await the other clans. They really should have been here by now It's really concerning me that we haven't heard anything from them.”

“Why do you think we can’t take them?” Taecyeon growled.

Nichkhun rested his hands on Taecyeon’s shoulders. “This is the feeling I’m getting. Please, I know it’s hard, but you have to trust me. With Wooyoung incapacitated, I need to take up his stead. I know you probably don't want to rely on me, but please just trust my gut feeling, okay?”

Taecyeon relented and nodded. “Fair...” He sagged under his hands.

Nichkhun smiled and pushed them to the bed. “Get comfortable. I’ll be on watch tonight.” They went reluctantly. Nichkhun knew they would need their strength, especially Junho. Magic could be very trying physically and mentally. Since Wooyoung had been avoiding him he was probably emotionally exhausted as well. Knowing that they were all resting gave him some strength and motivated him. He had to protect them. He was confident it was the woman who attacked him, and she had probably gotten Chansung. Every so often he saw a shadow under the door, but they never came forward. It raised his suspicion of Changmin even more, wouldn't he have tried to come check on Wooyoung by now? By the time morning came, he had never been so relieved. Feeling warm hands smooth over his shoulders he looked back at Wooyoung. “You look frightful, my prince.”

Nichkhun collapsed into him. “There was a presence outside the door all night. Junho kept it warded, but I fear what may be out there waiting.”

Wooyoung hugged him close and kissed his temple. “Never fear, I will protect you.”

“Wooyoung...you've slept the whole night, you never do that. It’s you I’m worried about.” Nichkhun murmured.

                Wooyoung smiled. “How’s your body?”

Nichkhun flushed. “Leave me alone.” He didn't like the change of subject.

“Never...” Wooyoung teased and kissed his neck. “I want you to go tothe eastern study, wait for me there.”

Nichkhun nodded and revelled in Wooyoung combing his fingers through his hair. “Why the eastern wing?”

“Because the sun rises that way, and a gift is waiting for you there.” Wooyoung said mysteriously. “You’ll be alright, head there now.”

Nichkhun got to his feet and walked to the door. He turned back. Wooyoung woke Taecyeon gently. Why did he fear this so much? It unnerved him greatly. Opening the door, all that met him was silence. Nothing but silence. He walked as confidently and as quietly as he could to the Eastern Wing. Nothing seemed amiss, except he saw no one. It was so odd. He always saw at least someone wandering the mansion when he visited. His footsteps seemed to echo as he walked across the foyer. He looked up at the ceiling and up the stairs. Every step he took his anxiety rose. It was just like his estate. When he finally made it to the eastern study, he heard voices. Finally, he found people. When he made it, the voices seemed to vanish. What was going on?

Stepping into the study, it was ransacked. What kind of gift was he supposed to find here? He heard the voices again, he was nearer to them. Closing the door he tried his very best to focus. Right...left...left. He strode over to a wardrobe. Pausing before it’s doors he looked around. Settling his hands on the handles he swallowed hard. Opening it, he tensed. Nothing. There was nothing. But then he heard them even clearer, the voices. They were so familiar. Then he saw it, a small amethyst stone. Picking it up, images flashed through his mind, most of them pertaining to Chansung. ‘A gift...huh?’ Slipping the stone into his pocket, he turned back to the door.

Opening the door, he peeked out in both directions. He heard the others in the foyer. Where was everyone else? Hearing footsteps, he peered out towards the foyer. Wooyoung was walking with Chansung. Changmin slipped out the door. That was odd. Standing behind the door, as they neared he was able to listen in on their conversation.

                “Are you really Jang Wooyoung?”

                His brows furrowed.

                “I think so...you’re tired...”

                Nichkhun crossed his arms.

“I thought about what you said...I really don’t feel the bond anymore. So, why do you keep me close?”

“I guess I just like having your presence with me. After all, Chansung, you and I have been together, nearly inseparable for a long time. Why wouldn’t I want you close to me?”

It fell quiet then. Nichkhun lowered his head. It was a valid point Wooyoung was making. He didn’t know anything about their relationship, but, despite how they were talking to each other he could tell there were still some lingering feelings - even though for some reason it seemed to have collapsed a while ago.

“Remember when Taecyeon was locked in the basement of the mansion?”

Nichkhun closed his eyes and rested his head against the door. How could he bring that up?

“Yes, how could I forget?” Wooyoung’s voice was laced with anger.

                “I’m sorry...”

Wooyoung sighed. “What about it, Chansung?”

“That was when I began to feel out of place here...and when I thought I could try with Nichkhun once more.” He straightened upon hearing his own name. “But...now he remembers nothing about me.” Nichkhun almost had to strain himself to hear those words. “You’re not the only one who made mistakes.” He heard someone collapse against something. “I guess...I thought you would hate me if I said my feelings for you and Taecyeon were changing.”

So, it wasn’t only Wooyoung but for Taecyeon as well. This was going to tear the Third apart.

“This is how I know you are Nichkhun’s first.” Once more he straightened up. “You both think that with the decision you make you’re going to hurt someone...when by not going the action you hurt someone anyway.”

Smiling sadly to himself he looked down at his feet.

                “Yeah...you’re right.”

They weren’t the only ones. Wooyoung did the exact same thing.

Hearing movement, he shuffled a little closer. “Our game ran its course, ne?”

“It was never a game to me...”

Again, movement. “Listen...” It was quiet.

“It might be too late for me and him...but I need to give it a shot.” Chansung said weakly. “In some ways...his not having his memories is a blessing for both of us. I don’t want him to have those memories of me anymore...so, thanks for freeing him for me.”

Those words should move him, right? So why didn’t they? They seemed so empty to him, so fake. He wanted to indulge in those words for whatever reason but something was telling him it wasn’t right. Hearing soft footfalls, he pushed off the door and leaned against it. Chansung was walking down the hall, Wooyoung watching him go. I have them.

Wooyoung’s lips tugged with a weak smile.

“It seems with my request...I freed both of us.” He sighed.

Wooyoung’s eyes fell closed. “There are still bad feelings.” He murmured. “Something has been amiss ever since you got hurt. Tell me...if Chansung saw the wisps...don’t you think he would have told me immediately?”

Finally, Wooyoung was confiding in him freely. He came to stand beside his fatigued master. “Yes...I think he would have.”

“I fear with freedom, there will be karma.” Something bad was going to happen. This was where the choice instigated an unfavourable act. Wooyoung reached up and gripped his robe, his expression twisted with pain.

“Do you think these episodes are also linked to an eroding bond?” He asked and turned to him.

Wooyoung clutched his arm tightly. “It might be a combination of things. I’ve never felt this way before...” His breathing became a little heavy.

“Let’s get you to a couch.” Nichkhun lifted him up and brought him to the study. Laying him down he checked him over. “You’re really worrying me.”

“I’m tired of this weakness.” Wooyoung rested an arm over his eyes.

The silence became more pronounced. He didn’t hear anything, not even the soft taps of feet. “Wooyoung, where is everyone?” He asked as he faced the door. He couldn't sense any of the members of the clan. Something was coming.

“Changmin handed me a request from the Council and left to run some final errands in the city. As for the rest of the coven...I don’t know actually. After the party I don’t remember much.” He said.

Changmin had vanished conveniently, no one else was around, and that presence was lingering. It was just him and Wooyoung. His senses when on high alert. Wooyoung shot up behind him and he found himself being pulled to a wall. The same loud shriek resounded throughout the hall. Wooyoung opened the wall before them and hauled him inside. The door shut with a silent click. Nichkhun looked around the dark as Wooyoung waited. His anxiety sparked and he clutched his pants tightly. He began to tremble as he heard footsteps on the other side of the wall. Wooyoung had gripped his hand and gave him a reassuring squeeze. Then he turned down the narrow space and pulled him along.

“You have secret tunnels?” He asked, purely to make himself feel more at ease.

“I install them personally into every mansion.” Wooyoung whispered. Nichkhun noticed a fork and Wooyoung knelt down on the floor. His palm pressed against it. He was seeking someone, probably Chansung. “How are you feeling, Nichkhun?”

Wooyoung’s shoulders were heaving with heavy breaths. He couldn’t get them out by teleportation. Nichkhun steeled himself and gripped Wooyoung’s hand tightly. “Fit for a stroll...” He answered. “By the way, I recall that shrieking noise...but I can’t seem to place it.” He’d heard it before, and before last night as well.

Wooyoung was staring at him and then snarled. He figured something out at least. Nichkhun found himself being tugged out the right hallway. They walked quickly until they came to the end. Wooyoung let his hand go and moved forwards quietly. He pulled out a small sliver of the wall and peeked out. He jerked back and withheld a cry. Nichkhun thought he looked pained before, but the expression on Wooyoung's face tore his soul apart. Something was so very wrong. Wooyoung opened a small door and crawled out. He looked around before motioning for Nichkhun to follow. Nichkhun did so and felt sick. His brothers and sisters, his kin, lay all around them. Their bodies were slowly beginning to disintegrate in the morning sun. Coming to stand close to him, he withheld the pain. Wooyoung motioned for him to follow and they escaped out the window. They headed towards the woods.

~Emergency, emergency. The Hunters have hit the Astrum clan. Numbers of deceased unknown. Please send back up.~

Nichkhun lowered his head and didn’t dare look back.

                ~Is that a request for help I hear, Wooyoung?~

                ~Yes, you bastard.~

Nichkhun noticed Wooyoung was beginning to limp. This was not good. Finally looking back, he saw black shapes moving towards them.

                ~Wooyoung! What’s going on?~ Junho called.

Nichkhun shook his head. They shouldn’t come back.

~Did you notice anything off about Chansung in the past little while?~

~I thought he seemed fine. Only after the day Nichkhun’s memories were taken did he really change.~

Nichkhun once again heard that loud shriek. He looked back and found them even closer. She was among them, the woman in the purple cloak. Wooyoung too was looking back, rage beyond all reason shining in his eyes. Noticing a flash of red and black bound past them, Nichkhun felt Wooyoung calm a little. They slowly came to a stop, but then Wooyoung collapsed to his knees. “Wooyoung!” His master vomited blood. Eyes widening he rubbed his back and held him close.

“That doesn’t look normal no matter how you look at it.”

Nichkhun turned his attention upwards to the familiar voice. It was Sano. Thank the ing stars!

                “You bastards...” Wooyoung wheezed.

Nichkhun watched Sano scoop him up.

                “Zahi..?” Wooyoung murmured weakly.

Sano looked upon him sadly and nodded to Nichkhun. “I will bring you to him.” Nichkhun felt much calmer now. The sounds of battle behind him, he turned back only for a second. It was too much. The Wolves were brutal in their assault. “Were you trying to destroy yourself and your clan, Wooyoung?”

Nichkhun snapped back. He was reminded immediately of their kin, strewn along the hallways of the North Wing.

“My clan...” Wooyoung’s voice trembled. “My...they’re all gone...” He murmured. Nichkhun clutched his chest, and the reality hit him again and again. Wave after wave of desolation and overwhelming pain. “Nichkhun-

He stood before Sano immediately. “I’m right here.” He assured. He reached up and brushed back Wooyoung’s hair. I’m safe, I’m right here. He would be strong for him, because Wooyoung would need it.

“We’ve got you, Wooyoung.” Sano said comfortingly. He nodded to him and Nichkhun returned it. Sano belted out commands to his troops to leave none alive. Nichkhun could only watch. He was so weak. Wooyoung had been right; they were no match for this. Standing his ground, he would not give their enemy the satisfaction of showing a defeated face. He desired freedom and he took the chance. This was pain. Pure, unrelenting pain. He would face it, and continue to stand by Wooyoung’s side. Because, no matter how much he was suffering, he knew that Wooyoung was feeling it one hundred times more.

                *

Following Sano was probably one of the most strenuous things Nichkhun had ever experienced. He was so fast and agile, he didn’t know what he had trained himself for, or if he had at all. Junho had been right, they were very sheltered. Sano lay Wooyoung down on a bed and checked him over and all he could do was watch helplessly. What was he supposed to do?

“He’s alright, Nichkhun Horvejkul.” Sano assured him and sat himself down. “Have a seat please?” Nichkhun slowly slid into the chair before him. Sano looked him over. When he came to his shoulder, he snarled a little. “Do you recall who injured you?”

“A...a woman during the Hunter attack on my manor.”

“This will only hurt for a second.” Nichkhun tensed but true to Sano’s word, the pain only lasted a second. He looked down as the second-in-command pulled something out of his shoulder. When it was out, he felt as if a weight had been lifted from his entire body.

                “What is that?”

                Sano held up the blond...hair?

“Someone possessed you recently.” Sano informed him. He set the hair over a flame and it shrivelled into nothing. Sano returned to him and looked him in the eyes. He couldn’t help but flush with a little embarassment. “Seems you are recovering now. Honestly, this brat, he really didn’t know what he was doing.” He growled.

Nichkhun collapsed completely and his exhaustion hit him, hard.

“Rest now, he’ll be here soon.”

Sano pat him on the shoulder before leaving. What just happened? Why did...this all happen? Wooyoung looked so pale, much too pale. What was he supposed to do? Tightening his grip on his hair he nearly jumped out of his skin when a hand ran over his shoulder. A handsome man stood there. For some reason he calmed instantly; Nichkhun didn’t know why, but he just could not feel tense in his presence.

“Be calm, young one. You’re quite safe here.” He said quietly. “May I ask if you require anything?” How could his voice be so soothing? Nichkhun watched as he sat down beside Wooyoung. He would do well not to be too trusting.

                “I...who are you?”

The man chuckled and crossed his legs. His expression went neutral as he began. “My name is Zahi, the so-called leader of Luna.” Nichkhun rose immediately and bowed. “Oh! Before you say anything, I would prefer you just relax thanks.” Nichkhun hesitated but retook his seat slowly. “I have never seen Wooyoung this bad before. Tell me, Nichkhun?”

                Nichkhun nodded.

“Did he drink anyone’s blood in the past week?”

Nichkhun tried to think back on it. He shook his head, “only Taecyeon’s I think, and mine. Ours are the only two I could sense within him... I’m sorry, I’ve been incapacitated due to a wound from the Hunter’s, or I think it was one of them.”

Nichkhun couldn’t help but stare. Zahi trailed his fingers over Wooyoung’s palm slowly. “Before the Council meeting, I had already been monitoring the Astrum mansion. It’s something I did from time to time to make sure Wooyoung was alright. It isn’t mine and Wooyoung’s bond that is causing this – although it is showcasing the regular characteristics...” Nichkhun nodded. “Our bond was affecting him the night you went to the meeting, that much I can establish. However, when you returned to your villa...I felt a change there. His Wolf has never appeared without his consent before. It took a long time for him to tame that part of himself, but it would have never appeared the way it did without instigation.”

“But...that would imply it has something to do with me-

“Oh no, no love,” Zahi assured, and his fingers tapped his injured shoulder. “This is what started it.”

               “How did you..?”

Zahi smiled. “I’m a bit of an odd sort.” Nichkhun couldn’t help but nod a little, which made Zahi laugh. “What colour was the blade? Do you remember?”

               Nichkhun nodded, “red...”

“The Hunter’s have three distinct blade colours: silver, gold, and red. A red blade is infused with someone or something else’s essence.” Zahi explained. “I’m surprised Wooyoung even allowed that inside his residence.”

“Well...he wasn’t exactly conscious. Is...is that why we can’t find Chansung?”

“I’ll have to save interrogations for that wonderful mage and...Taecyeon, was it?” Zahi had risen once more.

“Yes, Junho and Taecyeon,” he answered. “Um...Zahi...are we really safe here?” He finally asked worriedly. He did not want a repeat or surprise attack when Wooyoung was this weak.

When the tall man crouched down before him, Nichkhun couldn’t help feeling a bit nervous. No wonder Wooyoung has such a strong liking to him, he wasn’t only gorgeous but powerful too. Nichkhun had to admit it was rather intoxicating, and he almost lost focus on him. “Nichkhun Horvejkul, you are safe here.”

Wooyoung groaned and began shifting on the bed. He shot up and stared at them. “Wooyoung-

“Did you do anything to him?” Wooyoung asked suspiciously.

“After all these years, why can’t you trust me?” Zahi asked and moved forward. “If you’ll excuse us, Nichkhun, I have some business with your master.”

“We can do this with him here.” Wooyoung’s tone was low and threatening. He really did not want to be alone, but Nichkhun didn’t want to face anyone else’s wrath that day - especially anger from Wooyoung towards a mate.

“Wooyoung...I’m tired. I’m scared. I just don’t want anymore stress. I’m worried about Chansung, we still can’t find him. Junho and Taecyeon haven’t made any updates. Whatever is wrong with you can be cured by Zahi’s blood – and don’t try to tell me otherwise! Just...get better so you can fix things.” Nichkhun said with wavering voice. “Just...get better, please?” He asked as he got to his feet and pointed to the door. “I’ll be...I’ll be out there...” Nichkhun headed to the door. As he closed it behind him he sighed in relief. The energy in there was too much for him. He would have fainted it he didn’t leave. Their desire and emotions were too high strung and it left a sweet, addictive taste in his mouth.

               “Nichkhun?”

Turning abruptly he found Sano walking towards him. “Y-yes..?”

“Come with me, I’ll show you to a room. I have some updates on Junho and Taecyeon.” Sano ushered him closer.

Nichkhun’s mind began to race with the memories from the other night. He only saw a small sample of how lethal this clan was. “I have to admit, I’m apprehensive about trusting anyone at the moment.”

Sano seemingly smiled, “yes, but I would listen to me if I were you. If you collapse, Wooyoung won’t be too happy with me and I’ll never hear the end of it.”

Nichkhun chuckled and finally consented. “Yeah...he has that rebellious attitude about him.”

“About your Taecyeon and Junho, we lost sight of them in the Old Wood, but I believe it is because of huge wards placed there by Wooyoung. They are most likely the safest-

“What about Chansung? Do you know anything about him?”

Sano shook his head. “We never saw him leave the mansion.”

               Nichkhun’s stomach plummeted. “I see...”

Sano tilted his head. “Do not fret. I know it seems dire now, but the best thing to do is to cling onto what remains.”

Nichkhun couldn’t help but smile. “Thanks...sir.”

“No, call me Sano.” He said with a small smile. It faded immediately and he opened a door. “Rest here.” Nichkhun looked around the room. Eyeing the bed he couldn’t help but sigh in relief. “I’m sorry our first official meeting is under these circumstances. But...I am glad to finally meet you.”

               “Same to you.” He bowed.

               “Call if you need anything.”

“Thank you...” He bowed again. Sano departed and closed the door. Nichkhun slowly slid onto the bed. He was so exhausted. All he could feel was tension that there was still something around him. He could see their faces, slowly crumbling in the sunlight. He worried for Junho and Taecyeon and wished they were both with them. He didn’t know if he would be able to sleep at all. He didn’t know how long he lay there, but he tried not to think. It felt like hours. His own people killed everyone he knew. How would he be able to face everyone like this? He didn’t even have the courage to tell Taecyeon. Hearing his door open, a familiar warmth washed over him. Wooyoung’s arms slid around his waist and he finally, finally let his tears fall.

“Shh, don’t cry. I’m right here.”

Nichkhun nodded but they fell anyway. “How can you still hold me like this?” He asked weakly.

              "Why wouldn't I?"

"Because I was one of them..." He murmured.

“You are my First, and my beloved prince. I didn’t care then who your parents were, what group you belonged to, and I don’t now. You are mine.” He couldn’t help but feel comforted by those words.

“You were right...Wooyoung. We’re not ready for this. They got what they wanted, we were all separated and everyone is gone.”

“That’s okay, whatever happens we’ll face it together. It hurts right now...I feel so empty. But at least knowing you, Taecyeon and Junho are safe lessens the pain at least a little.”

              Nichkhun nodded and finally relaxed.

“Get some sleep...” Wooyoung said quietly and kissed his neck.

“You feel different now. Almost normal.”

“Zahi gave me what I needed...”

“Good...” Nichkhun stared ahead. He felt so lost. Whatever Helios wanted he won. Nichkhun didn’t care anymore. He had won this round. He wouldn’t feel better until Taecyeon and Junho were with them, but he felt safe with Wooyoung’s arms around him. "What about Chansung?"

Wooyoung sighed and held him tighter. "I have a feeling the Chansung we all knew is hidden somewhere. I can still feel a semblance of his presence, but it isn't strong. The Chansung who has been in our company the past little while...was probably a mask, or shade." Nichkhun closed his eyes as Wooyoung wove his hands through his hair. "When someone acquires your blood, they're able to fuse your thoughts, mannerisms and memories into a container. It's very old and dangerous magic. However, if my master has anything to do with this, he would utilise that magic."

"Can someone disguise themselves as a person with that power?" He wondered.

"Yes...but only by a skilled person."

"So, you think the Chansung who was with us the past day or so...wasn't really Chansung?"

Wooyoung nodded, "yes...and the reason I do is simple."

Nichkhun turned to face him, the desire to know in his gaze. "What is it?"

Wooyoung's eyes darkened with sadness. "I spoke with him one morning, told him how I felt about things for the past few decades. He took it all in, no argument, nothing. I guess he could have just given up on me, but he has never backed off completely like that before - and then, as if I hadn't said anything, he was fine. My words meant nothing. If it had been Chansung he most likely would have fought back, accused me of being wrong, and not spoken with me at all."

"He may not have done it to your face but he said it to us..."

"Chansung would have said it to me directly." Wooyoung sighed. "Nichkhun...I really failed all of you, so very, very terribly..."

It was unmistable, the tremor and sadness in Wooyoung's voice. Reaching up, he cupped his face and brought them closer. "See what happens when you don't let us in..? Depend on us, everyone gets hurt sometimes. If we're so important to you, Wooyoung, then be with us, share with us, let us know who you are...have faith in us." Why couldn't the others be with them now to drive this point home. "If you love us, if you truly do, then stop hurting us by keeping everyone in the dark, Wooyoung...please?" He faltered right at the end. He couldn't help it. He was desperate for Wooyoung to acknowledge them. "Don't only believe in those dreams you had of us, Wooyoung. We're real and we're here."

The weakness that encompassed Wooyoung's face, the mask fading, made Nichkhun smile. There it was. There was the vulnerable Wooyoung who he hoped was finally listening to him. "Nichkhun..."

"You don't need to be strong by yourself. Even if something worse comes, somehow we'll manage. If we get hurt, that's where our path goes, but we're not just going to sit here and take it!" Nichkhun held onto Wooyoung's hands tightly. "I...I am scared. I won't lie. I'm scared of what's coming, but as long as I know you accept me, and you do indeed forgive me, no matter what I will always stand with you." Surprised when Wooyoung's arms tightened around him, Nichkhun couldn't help but smile. He had wanted this for so long. It made him sad it was happening now, but at least it was, at least Wooyoung was finally acknowledging it.

"Junho is going to kill me..." Wooyoung murmured against his forehead. "Taecyeon I'm not so sure about."

Nichkhun couldn't help but chuckle. "I have been wanting to ask you why you've been avoiding our lovely mage..."

"Simple, because my Wolf told me..." Wooyoung muttered.

Nichkhun looked at him confused. "Why..?"

"Junho is bonded now to two people who have Wolf blood. Wolf blood makes your magic core unstable because it taps into the wild, raw deep energy. Where we don't know Taecyeon's full capabilities yet, I can't impose on Junho's fresh bond. It's been settling over the last little while, but where Junho wanted to reject the bond, he made me unable to approach him." Wooyoung finished, and looked utterly exhausted again.

             "So...it's his own fault?"

"Yes and no, I'm sure he didn't know about bonding with a Wolf, let alone two. It is rarely discussed or mentioned in magic books because of the private nature of Wolves." Wooyoung shifted himself so that Nichkhun's head rested against his chest. "When I have a chance, when he and Taecyeon has returned, I'll have to renew his protectionsas I did with you and Taecyeon."

             Nichkhun groaned. "Wait...so...the other night..?"

"Yes, I renewed yours then. Technically, you should have taken me since that was the original way I created your seals."

Nichkhun buried his face into Wooyoung's chest. "Don't talk like that right now..."

Wooyoung chuckled, "you're the one that brought it up. Anyway, get some rest. I promise I will tend to Junho when they return."

Nichkhun felt more at ease. With this, they could make things change. Their bonds had been shattered and their world knocked off kilter. However, they still had a chance, and Nichkhun would hold onto that and Wooyoung’s perseverance. It was all he had, and he knew it was all he needed. He might feel lost now, but he would gain back his courage, and stand with Wooyoung and the others. He collapsed completely into Wooyoung's body and into a dreamless sleep for the first time in those chaotic days.

So, we've reached the end of another part. Before I delve into Part VI many of you have highlighted the fact that certain questions weren't answered, or wish to know some things that were not covered in Parts IV and V. Please keep a lookout for Part 5.5 which will bridge the two. Until then, I do hope you enjoyed this story and continue on this journey to explore the Wooyoung-Vampire universe I've concocted haha.

Chapter 8: So finally my internet conection is back and I'm able to write the comment on this I wanted to write since like fo ever.
First of all, I had so hoped/ wished/ longed for Wooyoung to have saved Nichkhuns memorie. I did, but I didn't dare to really cling on that hope.
Reading it makes me so happy, though ha hasn't them back yet >.<
Their is still the opurtunity now, which relieves me.

What else to say, teh chapter was like always briliant.
I loved how it revieled so many difrent shaded of the previous part.
I thought it wasn't the real Chansung, though reading it made me kind a sad as well. Because I was happy he voiced his disspointment. So knowing it was only a mask, or soemthing liek a doll of Chansung is kidn a sad.
But also so thrilling. Like how di dthey catch Chansung than so easily?
And whats about the Hwang Clan, why did they want the clan to be dead, but now they needed Chansung.
It confuses me, they wanted Nichkhun to kill them, used him to do so, but what woudl they have done if Chansung wasn't alive they woudl have needed someone els eblood instead.
Ah so many openquestions.
Seriously
today whiel showering I though, if I eve rwin a really huge win, I have to open up a book label and while thinking about which authors I should add, I of course woudl have to take you as well.
I probably woudl have to beg for you *Laugh*
But you just deserve to be printed and aww I love this its so briliant really.
I knew this was going to be the last chapter of this part.
Still it kidn a broke my heart reading it as complete.
My saturdays will become a lot emptier >.<
and even more worst is thi inpatience, becaus eof all that questiones in my head.
So I will just try to be as patience as I can.
Thank you for sharing your hard briliant work with us ♥

Chapter 8: Please continue the next part soon. T^T This is so cliffhanger and I'm dying wanting to know more. They're still in danger and I think I can't be calm for too long. This is why I often say to myself why I shouldn't start a noncomplete yet story. It's kind of torture, waiting. But this also means you did a really good job, giving us enough tension to follow. Altough it's painful, but I will definitely wait for the upcoming. Thank you for a great work. ^^
