Present Day

Luhan frowns when he wakes to find an empty bed – one that feels cold without Sehun.

He sits up and looks around their bedroom.

“Sehun?” Luhan calls, eyes on the bathroom door, hoping that Sehun would pop out from behind it.

Sehun doesn't, and Luhan's frown deepens.

It was Sehun's day off, and Luhan's been looking forward to today since last month. Normally, they would spend these rare days in bed, doing nothing in particular, just simply enjoying each other's company. And Luhan knows that Sehun loves their lazy mornings just as much as he does, which is why he couldn't understand how Sehun wasn't here next to him.

Luhan flips back the covers and gets out of bed. Even if he wants to sleep some more, Luhan is determined to find Sehun first.

Besides, it's not like he could go back to sleep without Sehun next to him.

“Sehun?” Luhan calls when he reaches the landing of the staircase.

He's about to turn the corner to check out the living room when Sehun's head suddenly pops out from the kitchen entrance.

“Yeah, babe?”

Luhan stops in his tracks. “Oh. Morning,” he greets, trying his best not to sound overly relieved.

Sehun smiles. “Morning.”

“What are you doing in the kitchen?” Luhan asks as he moves closer.

Sehun holds up both of his hands, blocking Luhan from entering the kitchen.

“You can't come in yet.”

Luhan quirks an eyebrow. “Why not?”

Sehun puts his hands down and looks behind himself, biting his lips anxiously. “Uhh..”

“What is it?” Luhan tries to get closer, but again Sehun prevents him from getting in.

“Did you brush your teeth yet?” Sehun asks.

“No. Not yet.”

“Well, go do that first. Don't forget to wash your face.”

“When have I ever?” Luhan stands on his tippy toes to try and see past Sehun. “What are you hiding?”

“Nothing,” Sehun says firmly, and unconvincingly.

“But --”

“Lu, just wash up first okay?”

“Wha –”

“Up.”

“You –”

Sehun places his index finger over Luhan's mouth, shushing him. “If you don't go upstairs now, I promise I won't ever surprise you again.”

Luhan perks up. “You have a surprise for me?”

Sehun rolls his eyes. “Yes, now would you please listen to me? Go upstairs, brush your teeth, shower – do whatever you want. Just stay upstairs.”

“Oh..You need more time,” Luhan says, finally understanding why Sehun wouldn't let him go near the kitchen. “Okay. I'll leave.”

Sehun sighs in relief. “Thank you.”

“But before I leave --”

“Babe,” Sehun moans.

“I need a kiss first,” Luhan states with a grin.

Sehun steps forward and gives him a quick peck on the forehead. “There.”

“That was a sad excuse for a kiss,” Luhan says with a pout, though internally, he was enjoying this a little too much.

Sehun shakes his head and turns Luhan's body around. “Well, I'll give you a better one when you come back down.”

He gives Luhan a gentle push in the direction of the stairs. “Off you go.”

“Fine,” Luhan says, looking back at Sehun with an amused smile.

He sprints up the stairs, eager to find out what Sehun has planned for him.

Minutes later when he comes back down, Sehun's waiting by the door frame.

“Now I know I'm not the best cook,” Sehun starts, taking Luhan's hand and entwining their fingers. “Especially when compared to you, but I hope you like it regardless.”

He leads Luhan to the kitchen, and Luhan's eyes widen when he spots the surprise – breakfast made by Sehun.

Luhan smiles at the bowl of cereal.

“Can't go wrong with cereal,” Sehun says, chuckling nervously.

“Mhm.”

“The toasts were a bit burnt, so I cut those parts out,” Sehun informs him as his eyes land on the oddly shaped bread. “As for the eggs...”

Luhan looks at the plate of scrambled eggs with ketchup on it. He knows it's supposed to look like something, but he can't quite put his finger on it.

“I was trying to draw you with ketchup, but it got a bit messy, and well, I didn't know how to fix it, so ta-da!”

Luhan laughs.

“Not the best breakfast in the world, but I tried. That should count for something,” Sehun says while rubbing the back of his neck.

“It looks amazing,” Luhan says with a grateful smile. “I love it,” he adds when he sees the tall glass of freshly squeezed orange juice with pulp – just the way Luhan likes it.

“Go ahead and try it,” Sehun says, pulling out the chair for Luhan.

Luhan sits down, and watches Sehun make his way across the table to his seat. When Sehun looks back at him, Luhan picks up the spoon and starts eating the cereal.

His eyes are smiling when he notices the vase at the center of the table, filled with red roses Sehun probably got from their neighbor's garden (with permission of course).

“That's not all,” Sehun says as he takes out his personal black planner. “I have the whole day planned out. You know that musical you wanted to see? The Three Musketeers?”

Luhan nods.

“I got us tickets to see that later tonight. First, we can go shopping since winter's coming and I know you need a new jacket – a warmer one. We can also start on our Christmas list if you want. Then we'll have lunch at the park. I think we still have that picnic basket right? It's been a while since we had a lunch date at the park, so I thought it'll be fun...”

As Sehun continues to tell Luhan about his plans for their day together, Luhan couldn't help but smile affectionately at his lover.

“So, what do you think?” Sehun asks as soon as he finishes, closing his planner.

“I think you're unbelievable for constantly reminding me why I fell for you in the first place,” Luhan answers, his tone reminiscent.

It's not the answer Sehun expects, but he's happy with it nonetheless. “Really? Well, I guess I'm the perfect one for you then.”

Sehun smiles, his eyes turning into crescents, and Luhan is tempted to tell him that he is perfect.

When they're standing next to each other, washing the dishes that Luhan insisted they'd do together, he admits, “Sehun, it's not that I don't appreciate what you did, I do, but you should know that it would have been fine if you had nothing planned. I was simply looking forward to spending the day in bed with you.”

He tries not to emphasize the in bed part.

Sehun takes the plate Luhan was scrubbing and rinses it under the faucet. Luhan catches the tiny smirk on Sehun's face.

“We can do that first,” Sehun says, a hint of amusement in his voice. “If that's what you want.”

“I'm sure you want it too,” Luhan accuses, poking Sehun in the side.

Sehun turns to look at him directly. “Always.” He gives Luhan a playful wink.

Luhan blushes.“Wh-Why are you winking?”

Sehun laughs, and Luhan feels as though he's been tricked.

Before he could ask, Sehun rinses the last plate and places it on the drying rack. He turns off the faucet, wipes his hands with a towel, and turns to face Luhan.

Chapter 39: There are so many feels in this last chapter 😭😭. I really can't. I really love your fics, from ICCL, AICA, then here in SF. Of course I also love Always Have, Always Will, and will be waiting for the new fic to update. All the questions on why Sehun bullied Luhan when they were too close since childhood was finally answered. And Yixing obviously knows or has the clue on what's the reason of Sehun's behaviour. I really love this 😭😭. This still remains my most favorite hunhan fic. That interaction of Baek and Sehun is such a gold, they will do everything for baby Luhan. As of Sehun, he really can't deal on his feelings towards his bestfriend that's why he behaved like a fish out of the water 🤦‍♀️. I remembered how that jar of stars gave him a nightmare during his jealousy fit towards Kris and Luhan. Poor, Sehunnie, that really hurts. And I really love sassy Tao 🤣 seriously. I will reread this fic again. I missed my hunhan so much and I'm so thankful to you, my favorite author for creating this masterpiece. I'm sobbing because this chapter is so precious 😭. Honestly, I've been hiatus for 2 years i think? I haven't read this last chapter when you posted it because life got me, and this is the first time I read the final chapter. And it still gave me butterflies on my stomach. I love youuu, author-nim.

Chapter 39: Honestly I’ve left this site for about 2 years because i got busy with life (and manga) but then i came back and i just know that i need to reread this masterpiece because it makes me believe in love. Its so beautifully written and the storytelling is the only one I’ve ever seen done like that (and it’s beautiful to make it much more better) and I really admire how you can portray their friendship because it reach readers heart deeply. Whatever the author are doing right now, i wish they can be successful and happy with their life as a thanks for giving us this wonderfully written story. Thank you :)
