Description
When the world seems like it couldn’t be more real, reality finds a way to challenge everything you thought you knew or could ever know. A simple life, cultivated in a time where the world was dominated by facts and logic, would be forever changed as the winds of the unknown and unbelievable blew through the moonlit sky.
A child of curiosity, a boy of conformity, and now a man of logic, Jung Yunho spent his life simply. He had possessed an innate curiosity in his youth that once was the very definition of his character, but as the reality of his world quickly suffocated his childlike amazement, he became nothing but a soulless being of neither drive, nor determination, nor hope. He was just another weary traveler on the road of life and no matter how much his mundane life seemed eerily out of place, he never challenges his existence.
Living his life day by day, Yunho chose to become just another face in the crowd, another nameless one, and live the best he could. He spent his days buried in his work and never questioned the world around him. He never cared for things outside his own understanding and never thought there was something more.
But most of all, he never expected that a walk in the moonlight and a simple word spoken softly by a stranger, would change all that he was in an instant and set him on the path that would bring him to not only everlasting joy and serenity but also heartbreak and chaos.
Foreword
"Oh, how I wish I could remember the feel of the sun on my skin, the wind in my hair, or the rain on my face. I wish I could remember what it felt like to see my mother’s smiling face, to listen to my friends laugh, or the warmth of my lover’s arms wrapped around me. Those memories, now distant and fading away within the ebb and flow of time, still stand as painful reminders of my life that once was. I was happy once. I was joyful once. I was in love once. But now, I don’t know what to feel anymore. The desires of my heart have long since faded away and the world, my world, seems devoid of any of the light that once illuminated my path. Darkness, that ever-encroaching darkness, is all that lies before me. My world, once ruled by light, order, and love, is now dominated by darkness, chaos, and fear.
Changed forever.
Forever changed.
I once believed that beings have only this one life, this one existence, in which to fulfill their greatest desires and be who they were meant to be. But what if that wasn’t the whole truth? What if what you thought was real became fantasy and what you thought fantasy, became reality? Would you be able to cope with such a life-changing realization or would steal away your heart and mind and hide in your dreams?
In a world where reality is defined by facts and logic, ruled by money and innovation, and adored by the consistency and complacency of its existence, where does the realm of the unexplainable belong? Does it really exist or is it a figment of our imagination? It is truth or is it only our way of coping with the seriousness and absolution that reality gives us? Is belief in these fantasies a trick of the mind or the echo of the truth your heart has always known?
Questions like these had never once before flashed into my thoughts until five years ago. I never believed in things like spiritualism, mysticism, supernatural abilities, mystical creatures, or omnipotent beings. I believed in only what I could see, prove, and justify. If I couldn’t see it, hear it, hold it in my hand, and explain it, it didn’t exist. To me, the world was just a daily grind. Get up, go to work, hang out with friends, eat, sleep, and then get up the next day and do it all over again. The monotony of my past life was safe and tranquil. That tranquility left me in a state of conformity, where I never questioned what I saw, what I heard, or even my own beliefs. This was my existence, my life, and yet I believed that this was all there was to it.
Foolish, I was so very foolish.
But, I’m getting ahead of myself.
The greatest storytellers in the world always say to start at the beginning.
Alas, my beginning began in the middle of my story.
To understand where I came from and what my life became, you will have to know what I know and see what I've seen. You must walk my path, the path that not only led me to the truth behind all things but also led me into the never-ending darkness of his world.-a world that now consumes my very existence and warps the very meaning of the word reality.
My story is not for the faint of heart but I hope that with its telling, you may understand that the world is not as simple as it seems and the things you thought as mere fantasy is, in fact, more real than you can possibly imagine."
