Just one more…

The thought lingered through his mind as he took the heavy footsteps further and further away from the steel charcoal gates. He will wait. He had made up his mind to do so a long time ago…1 year he figured would be a breeze.

What he didn’t know was that it was much easier said than done.

“Are we seriously going to drive past this place again?!” Jaejoong sighed, reclining the passenger seat as he felt blood rushing through to his head.

He had known his dear friend for countless years now and within that period, he had witnessed him fall in and out of love like it was some sort of character description he had. Never once did he have a stable girlfriend, yet alone a crush or fling that lasted more than a month or two.

THAT, was what surprised him all too much when Yunho confessed to have fallen victim to cupid’s arrow. The feeling of happiness for his lonesome friend lasted not much longer than the past idea of love his friend once had. Soon, Yunho was immersed in everything that involved HER.

“Minhae chingu. I just wanted to check if there was a slight possibility that maybe I’d bump into her today.”

“Neh~ that’s exactly what you said yesterday. Yunho, do you realize that you’ve been saying that exact same line everyday for the past few months?”

“What will your new excuse be now?”

It was painful for Jaejoong. Physically, he felt perfect, but sadly he had to sit through the aimless random driving trips that his best friend often took to what seemed to be the guy’s new found favourite place on earth. Their arrival varied everyday ranging from a large difference of a few hours to some as small as mere minutes.

Yet after all those attempts, the result was always the same.

Nothing.

Nada.

No one.

As the final glimpses of the school’s campus feathered away from his vision, heaviness filled within his body. As Yunho pushed down upon the accelerator causing the car to drift off rapidly, he kept the school’s vision fixated at the corners of his eyes.

FLASHBACK

It was like some kind of time warp brought them two together that day--a place where neither of them casually visited on a daily basis. Instead, it was the complete antithesis. It was funny how the two people would be brought together that one summer.  

"A...B....T..."

Sooyoung didn't understand the concept of how exactly the numerous books were arranged in the shelves. Three floors with over a million books...it seemed hopeless. The librarians, or how Sooyoung referred to them, es, were rather stingy in helping her out either. Maybe it was the mere fact that the girl had absolutely no knowledge about how a library works, or that she herself didn't really know what book it was that she had been searching for.

Roaming aimlessly up and down the aisles, her long body swayed here and there. Her fingertips tapped playfully along the edges of each book, hardcover or paperback. The smell of the place was entirely different from what she was used to. But somehow, the aged paper of the novels stacked was enticing to her. Possibly, it gave her an odd reaction...causing her to overact a tad too much; an action forbidden in a quiet place like the library.

The single slight push of her finger caused the books to tumble onto the floor. Five, six, almost ten flopped off the shelves. Caught off guard, Sooyoung rushed to the other aisle shoving the fallen literature pieces back into her hands. Carefully she placed them back into their proper positions, but noticed a small empty spot off to the edge. Something was missing.
