january 19th, 1998

The day that Soo Mi's younger siblings were brought home was an exciting one, naturally; however, Soo Mi had other things on her mind as her parents opened the door, two wrinkly little babies being carried by the both of them.

"You didn't let me go," five-year-old Soo Mi yelled with a pout, jumping up and down in a desperate attempt to see her younger siblings. 

"A hospital is no place for a little girl," replied her mother with a small frown, scooting around Soo Mi to get into their house. "Especially a place with so many babies."

"You'll get to see them soon," promised her father with a small smile as Soo Mi ran up the stairs and into the nursery. "She's always going to be running, isn't she?"

"Of course," replied her mother with a sigh. "She needs something to get her energy out."

"We'll find something."

Soo Mi's parents quickly joined Soo Mi in the nursery. "You ready to meet your little brother and sister, kiddo?" her father asked kindly. 

"Of course! Let me see them!" chirped back Soo Mi, beginning to grin.

"Well, here they are. Meet Yoon Mi Kyung and Yoon Hyun Woo," introduced her mother, putting Mi Kyung down in one of the room's cribs; her father did the same with Hyun Woo.

It took Soo Mi a few minutes of bouncing around, talking to the two children, and smiling widely before she turned back to her parents. "I'm gonna be the best big sister ever!" she proclaimed with a wide smile.

july 14th, 2002

By the time Soo Mi turned ten, her "best-sister-ever" proclamation had turned to dust; she'd grown up a little bit since then, and found that taking care of her younger siblings was boring. Mi Kyung had turned into quite the studious four-year-old -  the science shows on TV were her favorite things, though she most likely didn't understand much of it - while Hyun Woo had turned soccer-obsessed in what seemed like days. Soo Mi, on the other hand, was often found chatting to her best friend on the phone and generally being a nuisance.

"Soo Mi? Get off the phone. I need to show you your birthday present," called her mother from the other room. 

"Jae, I'll be back. Mama's gotta show me something," Soo Mi explained, leaving the phone on the table instead of actually hanging it up. (There was no way she'd just stop talking to Jaeseop suddenly, and if her mother made her, she'd put up a good fight.)

"What is it?" she asked afterwards, following the sound of her mother's voice into the house's garage, moving there at what seemed to be the speed of light. "Is it something good?"

Her mother didn't have time to answer, however, because Soo Mi had already bound into the garage. There, in the middle of the garage's trash and chaos, was a drumset.

"Mama," Soo Mi breathed, stunned, "They're - mine?" 

"Of course. Your father and I figured you'd need a...creative outlet," her mother replied. The words seemed to come out a little forced, but Soo Mi didn't care. She'd already gone to try playing.

"Lessons start Monday. Try not to bug the neighbors!" called her mother as Soo Mi began to bang away, shutting the door behind her.

"I hope we don't regret this," she mumbled once the door was closed, and Soo Mi couldn't hear.

Meanwhile, Jaeseop waited on the other side of the telephone, wondering what on earth had happened to Soo Mi.

well, i'll leave this here anyway. i was going to add a third section - soo mi getting all flirty and such - but then, i was all, nahhh. story for another day. second teaser shall feature the beginnings of the four chords forming!
