first of all, i just want to say thank you so so so /so/ much for this ;_____; i wasn't really expecting anything for my birthday, so when i saw this, it was a pleasant and laskdhakjldf worthy surprise that brought a huge smile to my face <3

onto the fic itself, MY FEELS JUST WENT THROUGH CARDIAC ARREST AND CAME BACK TO LIFE (? DOES THAT MAKE SENSE ODG?)

"The end of summer approaches sooner than expected, but not before they promise to meet again." (i was getting serious Studio Ghibli vibes from this beginning for some reason so i was like "fluff?" SO WRONG. NEVER BEEN SO WRONG IN MY LIFE.)
"The sudden realization hits her when he turns to her while they are sitting on the steps of her house and informs her of his plans to leave for the army soon." (this reminded me of the movie Atonement. WHICH IS A REALLY SAD, FEELS STABBING MOVIE.)
"His eyes widen in surprise, then his expression turns bitter." (this line stood out to me most in the entire fic, for some reason. it's just so - true? like, he should be elated, but he's not because he can't be. it makes me think, if it happened earlier, if they confessed to each other - would things have changed? or would it only postpone the inevitable? basically, my heart really sobbed here :<)

and the end like lhskdjg BAI OK I'M SO DONE AND SOBBING
GOODBYE FEELINGS GOODBYEEE *waves them off like a balloon floating into the sky*

and sobs your note at the end: i'm so humbled and flattered you think so of me ;______; you're a wonderful friend, you and Alice, and you're the reasons why i'm still here on AFF <3 i'm so glad and thankful and blessed that i was able to meet you, you're the sweetest ever, i cannot even. you guys make me want to believe in myself more, and i think i gradually am, more and more. thank you so much for this and for being a wonderful, beautiful friend, Hana!
