Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), "Lou Gehrig's Disease," is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. Motor neurons reach from the brain to the spinal cord and from the spinal cord to the muscles throughout the body. The progressive degeneration of the motor neurons in ALS eventually leads to their death. When motor neurons die, the ability of the brain to initiate and control muscle movement is lost. With voluntary muscle action progressively affected, patients in the later stages of the disease may become totally paralyzed.

When faced with the news that he only has 2-5 years left to live, Aron Kwak embarks on a journey to his parents' hometown of Busan to experience life and search for comfort but finds so much more than what he originally sought out. He meets two of the locals but becomes enamored with a beautiful brunnette who shares with him a new light on life.

Aron documents his journey from America to South Korea in the form of his journal entries and shares with his readers his thoughts and experiences when it comes to his ALS, the cultural gap, and his first love in the magical city of Busan.
