CHAPTER 19

Baekhyun's POV

“Gureum! Dinner’s ready!” I called out from downstairs as I took my seat at the dining table.   My fingers tapped on the table top as five minutes passed and she still didn’t come down. *Where is she? What’s taking her so long? Where’s Kyungsoo too?* I waited for a few more minutes and decided to go up her room and check on her.   I stood up from my seat leaving dinner out in the open. I hurriedly went to the stairs and ascended it.   I stopped by her door and let out a sigh. Knock. Knock. Knock. I knocked a few times and only silence was the answer I got. I knocked a few more times.   “Gureum, are you okay?” I said through the door. Again, silence was the answer I received.   I held the door knob and said, “I’m coming in.” I turned the knob and went inside her room only to find her down in bed with her eyes closed.   I rushed to her side and sat by the edge of her bed. She was fast asleep yet her hands were trembling as they held onto her blanket. I reached the back of my hand out and placed it on her forehead. It was hot. *She has fever.*   “You’re sick right now,” I whispered to her as she was still fast asleep. I smiled at this sight. She looks like a fallen angel.   “You wait here. I’m getting a few things downstairs,” I said to her.   --   I got back up with a small bowl-shaped container in my hand. I filled it with cold water and added a few ice cubes. I laid it down on her bedside table and looked for a small towel in her things. The moment I found one, I drenched the towel in the water basin and squeezed it dry. I folded it and placed it in her forehead.   I took out the medicine in my pocket and placed it near the basin. Luckily, she had a bottle of drinking water in her room. *She can drink this later.* I flattened her blanket down  and fixed it so that she can be fully covered.   I felt fingers on top of mine as if holding onto me so that I won’t remove my hand. I felt my cheeks get hot but I didn’t mind.   “Don’t leave,” she mumbled in her sleep. *I’ll never leave you.*   “Don’t leave me, Kyungsoo,” she said.    I felt a sudden pain in my chest. With my free hand, I reached onto it and felt it even more. *So her eyes are for Kyungsoo…* I sighed. *Why can’t you see me?*   I removed my hand from hers and touched her cheeks. I cupped her face and just looked at her. *I don’t know what I feel right now. And it’s Kyungsoo you like. I’m fine with that. You’ll see me, too. You’ll see me.*   I felt a few drops of tears escape my eyes and land on my cheeks. I wiped them dry and continued to stare at her peacefully. *I’ll take care of you so that when you wake up, you’ll see me.*   I stood up and went to my room to get some beddings. *Somebody needs to take care of her tonight. I’ll be that somebody.*   *I feel like I’m being a martyr right now. She clearly doesn’t have feelings for me yet here I am coming onto her. Seeing her in pain… seeing her tears, it breaks me. Inside my heart is Won Gureum.*   I hurriedly went back to Gureum’s room and laid my things on the floor. *I wouldn’t want to sleep next to her. It will be awkward. She might think I’m erted or something.* I knelt by her bedside as I looked over her as she was in her deep slumber.   Another smile etched from my face when she scrunched up her face. “But Baekhyun’s nice t
