“Make sure that you don’t fall, okay?” her mom yelled from the kitchen window.

April waved it off, as she climbed the ladder to get onto the roof. Despite it being windy, the blanket she left there the previous night was still there. She laid down on it, before she sighed. Being in Korea was a completely different feeling. Of course she knew that the homework and studying time would be increased immensely, but she never knew that it would easy for her to gain friends.

Friends, April thought to herself. She chuckled. It was funny to think that, because in Tennessee, she had none. She was always known as the weird ‘fobby’ chick that came over from Asia. When she thought about it some more, she realized that they probably didn’t even know that she was Korean. The school she attended was ‘white washed’. They never considered her worthy of being their friend, until she did something amazing. Obviously, she never did anything amazing. When they were doing a viral video, she found herself standing off on the sidelines. She had no idea on what they were doing. It was weird.

Even with the few Asians at her school, they were bunched together with their own races. They weren’t willing to make friends with her because she wasn’t Chinese or Vietnamese. Even the Thai people had their own group of three people. Where was she? Nowhere, because she was the only Korean person at her school, besides her brother. The principal had never noticed the racism in her school, which pissed her off--but then again, she was also relieved. She was relieved because now that she was in Korea, she didn’t have to miss someone. She didn’t have to remain friends with someone more then a million miles away.

Now that she was in Korea, she actually fit in. When she was first introduced to her class, they had accepted her with open arms. She heard a few words about not having the pale skin that most ‘idols’ had, but she merely brushed them off. It’s not like she hadn’t been tanning in Tennessee, where the weather was pretty hot in the summer time. She had to admit that it’s not Korea’s heat, but it was still hot nevertheless. People talked to her during the breaks. They invited her to eat lunch with them. Even the boys talked to her. She could tell that the girls were a bit envious that the ‘Oh Sehun’, the class’s hottest student apparently, was talking to her, but it wasn’t like she cared. She didn’t care for dating, like the majority of them did.

The experience was new to her. Friends, she thought again. She never had them before. Suddenly, she heard someone climb up the ladder. Her eyes snapped from the beautiful starry night, to a male that took camp right next to her. “What the heck do you think you’re doing?” she asked him, as she poked his forehead. “I’m enjoying the view with my lovely little sister. I’m kind of glad that mom forced dad to buy a house with a flat roof. Now I don’t have to worry about you falling off,” Baekhyun replied to her, as he grinned like an idiot.

April rolled her eyes at him, before she faced the sky again. Her brother Baekhyun had always fit in a bit too easily. He used to have that horrible bowl cut that almost every high school male in Korea had, until he saved up enough money to get his hair dyed brown and cut to be a bit more stylish. Now, he knew how to cut and dye his own hair to keep it at its prime. He had that cute eye smile that every girl loved, even the American girls believe it or not. He also had an amazing singing voice, that allowed him to fit into the musical group when they were back in Tennessee. He had tried and tried again to get April herself to join them as well to keep herself from being lonely, but she refused. Singing wasn’t her thing.

“So how’s school going for you?” Baekhyun asked her curiously. He always wanted April to be happy. He cared for her, and April knew it, even when he wasn’t trying his best to show it. “It’s going fine. I have friends now, I guess,” April replied to him, before she shrugged. She didn’t know what to feel about this.

Baekhyun’s eyes lit up, as he told her, “Friends? You’re not kidding me, right? You should be happy!” She shook her head, before she said to him, “It’s not what you think. I don’t feel... close to any of them. Especially since they always send me glares for talking to Oh Sehun.” Baekhyun’s eyes widened. “Oh Sehun? You mean, the Oh Sehun that every girl even in the senior class is swooning over?” he asked.

She shrugged. “I don’t know. He’s handsome, I guess. I think of him platonically, though, for sure.” Baekhyun’s surprised expression ceased, before he chuckled and ruffled April’s hair. “Well, you better tell him that then. He only talks to girls if he has a crush on them, or so... That’s what I hear.”

April scoffed, before she told him, “I’m pretty sure that he feels platonic for me as well. We met by me hitting one of his friends, from another class, with a mop when we were cleaning. Whenever we talk, we usually just joke about things that happen during the class periods. Like for example, there was this one girl, which I’m pretty sure her name is Kim Hesoon, but anyways she has this huge crush on Sehun. Sehun tells me that he doesn’t want to date her, but she keeps throwing herself onto him. It’s pretty funny, if you think about it.”

“Sounds like a crush to me,” Baekhyun snorted. “Stop saying that Baekhyun, i’m just his wing... girl,” she replied with a tinkle of laughter laced into her voice. “Wing girl? That’s a lame excuse.”

“Well i’m not a male! What else would I be?”

     “A... wing woman?”

April snorted, before she laughed uncontrollably at her brother. He was lamer then she thought he was. Baekhyun pouted at her, before he turned to look at the stars. They were clear as day. Tennessee’s sky was nothing compared to this. He figured that it was his dad’s best decision to move back to Korea, and he was quite sure of it.
