"What's behind those wall umma?' asked the little boy  clutching his teddy bear tightly. The walls she spoke of towered above her. She could see nothing but the sky and the sun yet she could here the chatter of people and the honking of horns.

The little girl's mother bent down and far as her tight dress would allow. "Well my love these walls protect us from the bad people who live on the other side of that wall in a place called the slums."

The little boy turned to his mother his face filled with childish curiosity. "Why are they bad mommy?"

The mother wondered if her son was too young to understand but she told him anyway decided the sooner he knew the better.

"Long ago way before you were born, even before I was born there was a war. The resources that our elders relied on were starting to dry up and people began to turn on one another. Country turned against ally, father turned against son. The war almost wiped out the entire human race but before we began extinct a group of men calling themselves the Council of the Sword stepped forward and built up this place were we live now- Shangri-la. The people on the outside of the wall are the descendants of the men and women who tried to destroy the human race. It is said that there evil twisted thoughts turned them into evil, twisted people whose only thoughts are about killing."

She turned the little boy to face her and she gripped his little shoulders "Promise me sweetheart, that you will never, ever leave the safety of the wall. Promise me!"

The little boy nodded as his mother's story had scared him to much to actually speak.

She smiled, her teeth glittering in the sunlight. "Good. Now come on you father wants to meet him at the Government building."

She started to walk away. The little boy glanced up at the wall again. The sky beyond the wall seemed a lot more dangerous and he reckoned that the noises he had previously perceived to be friendly chatter was actually growls and snarls coming from the slums.

"Woohyun hurry along. Your father is be made Council member today."

The little boy his heel and ran after his mother. He never thought that one day he would break the promise he made that day.
