Chapter Ten

From Friends To Lovers

Here is it guys! The last chapter!

Chapter Ten:

Taecyeon sat on the edge of the hospital bed where Yoona lay, holding her hand tightly, thankful that the doctors said she was going to be okay. Ok Taecyeon-ssi, the patient and the baby are going to be okay, there is nothing to worry about. She passed out from minor symptoms of hypothermia, we've induced her into a coma, and she will be okay when she wakes up. I suggest you keep a close eye on her from now on, it seems that she has been suffering from a lack of sufficient sleep and rest. If you'll excuse me, I have other patients to attend to..

He had never been so scared in his life. She had suddenly fainted in her shivering, pale state. Though her baby bump wasn’t visible yet, he had feared for his child's safety, relieved that he had caught her before she could hit the floor. He wasn't just a man at that moment, he was a father, and now he had assumed that role. He had two more people to protect aside from his parents and sister as well as his band mates, so there was nothing more reassuring that hearing that from the Doctor, and Taecyeon had released a sigh of relief after hearing so.

But what if they hadn't have been okay? What if he was going to lose one of them? He did not know what he would have done. What if he could only save one of them? He'd choose to save Yoona. He wouldn’t need to think for another second. They could have kids at any time later in the future, but a woman like Yoona only came around once in a lifetime. They both loved kids, but he'd rather have her hate him the rest of his life than lose the most important thing in his existence, his girlfriend, and soon, hopefully his wife.

But that did not matter, nor was it worth any more of Taecyeon's time. Because they were okay. His family were okay.

"Taec," he heard his name being called by his American born friend who was walking through the door.

"She's going to be okay. The baby is going to be okay. They're both okay," Taecyeon smiled, his hand brushing hair out of Yoona's face, his eyes never leaving the sleeping beauty as he spoke to Jay. "But hyung," he continued, the change in his tune obvious. "I want her out of here. I don’t want something to happen to her while she's resting like what went on with Son Ho Young sunbaenim," he continued to her hair while she slept.

"Taec, whatever you want to do, just tell us. We're all here for you, and we're here to help you with whatever you need done," Minjun said while each and every one of the boys nodded their heads in agreement.

*

She heard muffled voices as she stirred awake. Yoona tried moving her hands, but they felt weak, she tried sitting up, but she didn’t have the strength to pull herself up. She began to speak, but was dry, and her jaw stiff. So she listened to the muffled voices, eyes still half asleep. 'Why hasn’t she still woken up yet?'. Tiffany. 'I'm going to go check on her.' Jessica. 'You just went in there Sica. She'll be okay. Don't worry.' Was that Jay Park she heard? 'The Doctor said that it would be a while before she woke up.' Junho. There was a short silence that followed, then the shuffling of feet could be heard, getting louder and louder, closer and closer. And then she drifted off back to sleep again.

In the backyard of the property, Taecyeon sat by the pool, his feet dangling in the water while he spoke on the phone to Yoona's father. Having met him numerous times before, he found that the father-daughter pair were super similar. He could see her father in Yoona whenever she did certain things, like when she finished her meal at home, she would proceed to clean the dishes straight away - something that he noticed her father did too when they had dinner one night. 'It's better to clean the table straight away son, or else the cockroaches will start coming around.' Or when she saw someone bleed, she would attend to them with care, like her father attended to injured stray animals without a second thought. It was those little things that made Taecyeon grateful to Mr Im for raising such a well mannered daughter. He kept his family together and happy, even though his wife had left him and their children behind. He was the reason why Yoona was the person she was today, and Taecyeon had once told himself that he would treat her father like his own father.

"She's okay, Uncle Im. I signed her out of the hospital and brought her back here. I didn’t want a repeat of Son Ho Young's mess happening to Yoona," He assured the father.

"I'm not worried about Yoona, son. My daughter is a fighter. I'm worried about you," Mr Im spoke, concern caressing his voice. He sighed into the phone, an unspoken apology for what his daughter had put the young man through. "Taecyeon, you must be strong, son. You have been through so much more than she has. You must be exhausted,"

His concern touched Taecyeon. "Uncle Im, I'm just glad that she's back. I'm not going to let her out of my sight ever again."

*

"Jessica," Jay called out to the worried figure sitting beside a sleeping Yoona. "Come on babe, you need to get some sleep," The night sky had fallen, and it had been 12 hours since Yoona had collapsed, and still no sign of her waking up yet. For 12 hours, Jessica had worried. Her friend was pregnant, exhausted, fragile, and there was nothing Jessica could do to help Yoona. If only she would wake up and put her worries to rest…

She thought of the times that they spent together, or lack of. Yoona was always so busy she had no time to spend with the girls, but each and every one of them knew she was doing it for the name of Girls Generation. She was giving up her life to keep the idol group in the industry. The sacrifice of one life for nine careers. Jessica never understood how that made any sense at all, she couldn’t fathom how Yoona could do it. That's not where it stopped either. Yoona had made Taecyeon help repair her estranged relationship with Jay at one stage, and for that, Jessica would always be thankful. Not everyone was okay with their boyfriend being pictured with one of their best-friends and the media making up rumours about them. No, Yoona was one of a kind. To Jessica, she was an angel sent from above.

"Sica," he repeated. This time however, he moved from his spot at the door frame, and knelt down, taking her hands in his. "Taecyeon's out of the shower. You've been here long enough. Taec will look after her and tell us when she wakes up," Taking her hands, he led her out the bedroom, stopping briefly to pat Taecyeon on the back as he came into the bedroom. "Give us a yell if you need anything Taec,"

*

Sighing still half asleep against the sheets, Yoona stretched her arms and legs. She could feel the stiffness in them as she did so, and could only wonder how long she had slept. Rubbing her eyes awake, she scanned her surroundings as her vision began to focus in a strange room. Only then did she notice Taecyeon sitting in what looked like and uncomfortable position in a chair next to her, elbow against the desk, chin in hands, asleep. As she looked around, everything was unfamiliar. Where the hell was she? She last thing she remembered was Taecyeon catching her in his arms."Oppa," Yoona called out softly to the sleeping man, unsure how much of a deep sleep he was in.

He heard her whisper his name, and that was enough drive for Taecyeon to wake from his slumber and check on his girl. Dashing to her side, he hugged her frame, and muttered a silent prayer of thanks. "You're okay," he confirmed for himself, kissing the top of her head, and the parts of her that were within kissing distance while he clung onto Yoona, never wanting to let go.

"Oppa," she broke the silence after a few moments. "Where are we?"

"We're home. That's where we are. You're home now." He gave a vague reply as he landed a final kiss for the time being on her forehead. "You've been out for over a day. Are you hungry? Does it hurt anywhere? I should give the Doctor a call and ask him to call in when his shift at the hospital is finished.." Glad that she had woken from her slumber, he wanted to make sure for himself that she was feeling alright. "You're probably hungry," he spoke to himself quietly, answering his own questions for her. "I'll go make you something to eat,"

"Taecyeon oppa," her voice held him back when he was about to move. "Just stay here with me for a while?" she looked up at him, eyes pleading. She had missed him so much when she was gone, so much more than anyone could have ever imagined. She missed his kisses, his hugs, his smell, his voice, his hold, his everything. "I'm sorry for doing what I did," she whispered into his chest as he changed his position so that they were both comfortable on the bed. But before she could continue, he hushed her.

"Baby, you don’t need to explain to me. I understand Yoona, I do." His hold on her tightened, and he placed more butterfly kisses over her. "It's in the past now. Let it go," He felt her relax into his embrace as she digested what he just said. "Come on, let's go get some food in you. Even if you aren't hungry, I'm sure little Taecyeon is hungry," He placed his palm over Yoona's tummy, still amazed at how he was now someone's father.

Yoona laughed heartily at his words and swiped at his hand. "Oppa, you can't call her little Taecyeon if she's a girl!"

"I can too! If she is a girl, she's my little girl, made with my little swimming Taecyeon ! What else are you going to call her?! Everyone can tell it's your kid, so it wouldn’t make sense to call her little Yoona," he tried to justify. "Come on. Up you get," he pulled her up with him, brain set on feeding Yoona everything until she felt like she was going to burst at the seams. Taecyeon suddenly pulled that thought back - no, he wasn’t going to do that, he didn’t want little Taecyeon feeling sick from being bloated. From now on, Taecyeon was going to feed Yoona the appropriate amount of everything. Whatever 'appropriate' was - Yoona could eat anything and everything she wanted, so there was no appropriate amount. This was going to be tougher than he thought, he's have to ask the Doctor when He got round to calling him.

"Seriously. Oppa. Where are we??" Yoona's question broke his thoughts as she stood up.

"I told you," he laughed. "We're home."

She looked at him quizzically, not quite understanding what he was trying to say. "Where's the bathroom? I want to use the bathroom?"

He guided her to the ensuite bathroom that was attached to the room Taecyeon had placed her in, and Taecyeon decided to make the bed and tidy the room while he waited for her. As he heard the toilet flush, he began his countdown.

Five.

A small scream could be heard.

There it is, Taecyeon thought to himself and a grin appeared on his face. She had finally noticed.

"Taecyeon oppa," Yoona walked back into the room, her eyes focussed on one thing. "What is this??" she asked him, eyes large and round as she pointed at the sparkling rock that sat on her fourth finger on her left hand.

"What does it look like to you?" he laughed as she neared, and his hands found their way around her waist, locking her into place right in front of him. "It's an engagement ring,"

His answer confirmed her suspicions. "That's funny. I don't remember you getting down on your knee proposing,"

Taecyeon looked into her eyes, his face serious. "That's because I didn’t." Her look of shock amused him, and he proceeded to explain before Yoona thought the wrong thoughts. "I didn't drop down on my knee because I didn’t want to give you a chance to say no." Lifting her had with the gem on it, he touched the rock and looked back into her eyes. "I had this extravagant proposal already planned before you ran off, where I was going to invite you to our concert and propose there - I had fireworks and everything planned out! But then you decided to play hide and seek with me, and I got frustrated. So when you came back, I was about to propose again, but then you fainted. So I had to put this little gem on your little finger while you were still unconscious when we brought you back here. Because there is no way that I am giving you a chance to say no. I've already lost you once, and I'm not going to lose you again. Not now, not ever. So you will marry me, Im Yoona, and you will stay with me for the rest of our lives. And we will watch little Taecyeon grow up along with his or her little sisters and brothers."

Yoona didn't need to hear anymore. She was more than happy - no, she was thrilled and over the moon that she was going to marry Ok Taecyeon. So she shut him up right then and there by sealing their relationship with a long, passionate kiss. "I love you," she whispered as they broke away.

"I love you too," he answered, clearly smitten and satisfied with life. "Come on, let's get you fed. Everyone downstairs has probably woken up by now,"

*

"Seriously Taecyeon, where are we?" Yoona asked again for the nth time that morning. After having greeted all their respective members, at breakfast that morning, Yoona's girls had all been ecstatic when the pair had announced of their plans to get married over pancakes and waffles that they all made together in the kitchen. But the feeling of not knowing who’s kitchen they were messing up drifted back to Yoona's mind.

"You haven't told her Taec?" Jessica looked up and asked as Jay fed her.

"Don’t give me that look Sica," Taecyeon replied cooly as he handed Yoona a glass of milk. "I've told her a number of times this morning but she still doesn't seem to understand."

"He keeps telling me that 'we're home'," Yoona butted in. "But- wait a minute," she looked back at Taecyeon with eyes wide, her mind connecting the dots. "Did you buy this place for us Taecyeon!?"

"Yes. Yes I did baby,"Chapter Ten:
