Description

"She lifted her right hand, bringing her wrist closer to her face to examine the handmade bracelet decorating it. It wasn’t anything fancy or complicated to make. Only two strings, one white and one red, braided together."

How hard is it to start  a new life? How hard is it to keep moving forward, when everything you cared about is left behind? Jessica moves to a new apartment, in a new town alone. Prologue

Jessica looked at the thin bracelet around her wrist.

"What's this about again?"

"It's for good luck and health!" Tiffany explained flashing a smile so bright it could cast shadows on the sun.

"I don't get it."

Tiffany pouted but quickly regained her good mood. "I already explained it to you. We make a bracelet for each other the first day of March as a prayer for happiness. Like spring chases winter's cold wind away, they are supposed to get rid of all bad luck."

Jessica examined it more closely. "How long do we keep it on?"

Tiffany averted her eyes, tapping her chin with her long finger in thought. "Until you see the first swallow of the year."

Jessica raised her brows in disbelief. "Why? What does a swallow have to do with a bracelet?"

"It's tradition in some European countries. They make this small bracelet the first day of March and when they see the first swallow, they tie it on a tree so that swallows will use it to make their nests."

"Cute tradition. But it doesn't make sense," Jessica observed with an absent minded smile.

"When you tie it on a tree you should make a wish," Tiffany said  and clapped her hands together excitedly. "And if a swallow really does use it for its nest then your wish will come true."

"How do you know that a swallow has used it?"

Tiffany's smile disappeared, replaced by a confused look.

Jessica couldn't help but burst out laughing.

Chapter 1: Oh my god. this is beautiful. just so so beautiful. I actually felt my heart twist reading about Jessica's love for her sister and I could only imagine so much pain she had gone through. you put so much emotion into this I could imagine Jessica like she was a real person. I'm even crying.

that final few lines were so simple but so effective in reducing me into a sobbing wreck.

your writing is just lovely! my favourite jongsica fic out of all the ones I have read!
