The Sun and The Sea

Description

Because the sun stays in the sky, and the sea stays below. Because wax can melt, and wings can get wet. Because Myungsoo knows how to wait, and Sungjong knows how to love. But no one ever knows enough.

Foreword

But if you fly to close to the sun, the wax between the feathers will melt.

----------

But then again, he doubts he could have stayed away.

It was inevitable.

Chapter 1: Ugh, I've always had great interest in mythologies and I am so glad I chanced upon this fic, so much as it being very well written. I always have trouble finding words when I comment, however, do forgive me but I loved this very much.

Chapter 1: I was trying to write a vignette but I couldn't find the right inspiration. Somehow I found myself here...so I read through it. It reminded me why I loved this so much in the first place.

I really adore this, and now it's serving as my muse. I thought about something though...there's no Daedalus to warn Myungsoo and Sungjong, but even with warning, Icarus met no better fate. I guess inevitable, is just that - inevitable.
You brilliant thing, let me love you!

Chapter 1: this is beautiful and so well written ;A; I also love how you incorporated Icarus's tale because I just love Greek mythology ^^

I feel so sad for Sungjong though ;A; because Myungsoo did and does love him but it seems like the people around him are telling him otherwise TT^TT

this fic shall be added to my list as to why I find sunsets so sad

Chapter 1: The beginning is choppy, until the wings come. Then the entire story takes flight. It's like a bird learning to fly.

And then it falls.

I love how this plays off mythology. It has the greek Icarus tale, what with the flying towards the sun. But it also has the second part of the myth.

After all, Daedalus warned against flying too close to the sun or too close to the sea. I think that's why Sungjong's part just breaks my heart.

That and the fact that there is closure. But there is not closure. There are flashbacks from Myungsoo; it's told from his future perspective. But where is Sungjong?

And then the end... with all its vagueness, that answers questions without answering questions. I just... cried. Their love, their beauty, their only.

There's even a hint of fable in here, what with the way you explain the phenomenon of sunsets and sunrises with the love that is MyungJong.

You may have used the definition of inevitable.

But, as far as fanfics go, you have defined beautiful.

Chapter 1: When I usually read MyungJong stories, I always sympathise with Sungjong always. Ask Lime unnie, in her story Sungjong was a murderer and I still sympathised with Jongie rather than the murdered people but here, I've encountered something special - I treasure the relationship, their relationship, it's MyungJong together that makes me read this over and over again. Bless you.
