Creeeeak.

Creeeeeeeeeeak.

Life was like this.

Pit. Pit. Pit. Pit.

Never knowing if the day was going to rain or shine. And the old house they lived in shook and ached with no halt.

Tap. Tap Tap. Tap.

Bodies slump over on dark red couches. Pulling our papers and pens and pencils, deciding what to write.

 

The rain's sound grew louder, and the old house grew darker.

A single sigh, and curse over a pencil point braking. She tossed her materials across the room and moaned. The boredom and frustration taking over.

 

She heard the rain as if it was in her own house, a bright light quickly bursting through the room. A rain soaked brother closed the door behind himself, sighing as he saw her. After finishing work early, he decided to return home, hoping it was warm and sweet, finding it cold and harsh.

 

As he began to rest his head on her shoulder, she nudged away. Glancing at her, he saw her anger coated face. Scrunched together and needing a bit of happiness.

 

Pit. Pit. Pit. Pit.

The rain sound echoed through out the room.

Tap. Tap. Tap. Tap.

The two had an unspoken barrier whenever one was upset.

 

Spotting the thrown paper, he hesitantly picked up a slip and read it's contents.

He turned to her, his sister's face turning crimson as she noticed her song being read. He chuckled, liking to see her anything but angry or sad. Gently, the words leaked from his mouth, putting his own tune to the lyrics.

 

Stop it!

 

He turned to her, seeing her eyes slightly glowing.

 

Did you write this?

 

She looked at her toes, the bright red paint chipping off.

 

Is it for your friend that I see all the time? What? Did he tell you that he doesn't love you?

 

Shut up!

 

His heart broke a little.

 

What if I help you? Can I help you? Will you allow it? I've got some ideas for a song… and besides… can we write the song for my girlfriend? She will love it, and when that boy hears that the song was originally for him, he'll cry and beg for love. Deal?

 

He ruffled her hair, and she giggled at the touch.
