Sunlight shines through the window, illuminating every corner of the room.

He fell asleep. Again.

Youngjae hears footsteps. Soft, light footsteps. An air of drowsiness clouds his mind as he opens his eyes and slowly sits up on the bed. Their bed.

The footsteps halt. He lifts his head to see Daehyun smiling cheerfully at him from the doorframe. Youngjae loves how the sunlight compliments his smile. This was his significant other, his better half, his everything; he returns the smile.

Waking up in the early morning is a difficult task, and staying awake was particularly difficult for Youngjae, he knows that. Every day, Daehyun waits for him to arise from his peaceful slumber and greets him with a loving smile and a Good morning did you sleep well? And everything would be perfectly wonderful.

But today isn’t one of those perfectly wonderful days.

Daehyun’s smile gradually fades as he turns his gaze away. Youngjae’s smile vanishes in response.  He wasn’t prepared for this abrupt change so early in the morning.
