The Eighth Letter
Letters to Chen
Dear Chen,
Since you are already nineteen, what college do you go to?
Definitely not a university here in Seoul or else I would have seen you around.
So I believe that you go to a university in Pohang? I mean, Pohang is the city where I send all these letters to.
Oppa, what major are you taking? How did you know what college to choose from?
I'll learn well from your experience,
Yoojin.
Dear Yoojin,
My major? Well, that's something which I will not be firm in saying. Though you are right, I do attend a university there.
Anyways, there are many different factors to consider when choosing your college. I used the following to help me make my decision.
Location. Would you prefer to live in an urban or rural city? Are there useful stores near the university? Is it located in a safe area?
Specialty. What area of study are you interested in? What area of study will make employers look at you?
Student Development. Are there mentors in your university who help everyone, especially the depressed, ignored and failing students?
Cost Considerations. How much is your limit for the tuition? How much are living expenses? Is it possible to get a financial aid package?
Academics. Does the university specialize in only your course, or does it have many programs? How rigorous are the classes?
Every point is vital,
Chen.
