♡〉 Characters-

Moon Minji;; Tough, stubborn and weird, sometimes she can be quite sensitive and sometimes cruel. She works her off for her family, and hates it when people pity her.

Kim Jongin or Kai;; The prince. He's generous, cheeky and often greasy. Baekhyun loves children and loves doing charity, however, someone who didn't want to receive any help did attracted him, for no apparent reason.

EXO-K;; Kai's friends. All are from royal families, but always acts like children. They often helps Kai with raising funds for charities and things.

Moon Jihyung;; Minji's little brother, 5 years olds.

Moon Sanghun;; Minji's cruel father, addicted to drinking and he beats his wife and children whenever he feels like.

Park Minhyun;; Minji's mother. She's suffering from a severe case of leukemia.

 

♡〉 Prologue-

People passing by snickered at the pair of sister and brother sitting in the corner, faces full of dirt, wearing rags, their eyes were filled with sorrow. The rich kids the same age as Jihyung, stuck out their tongues as they enjoyed eating their delicious dishes of ddeokbokki in their hands, making fun of Jihyung. The girls flipped their silky hair when they reached where Minji was, slightly smirking, mocking Minji for her filthiness of a peasan; although Minji is a thousand times better looking than those girls.

"Mm~ The ddeokbokki is so delicious, mom!" The kids would sing in front of Jihyung. "It's a pity those peasants can't afford to buy them, haha!"

"Look at that girl!" The girls would squeak, "She won't ever get a boyfriend, she's so ugly and dirty! Eww!"

Minji glared at each and every one of them, at the corner of her eye, she noticed her little brother eyeing the plates of ddeokbokki in the kids' hands, his eyes teary. Seeing her brother like that brings tears to Minji, she gently pet Jihyung's hair, soothing him.

"Noona, I-I'm hungry." Jihyung choked, his stomach growling. "Why d-do people l-likes to tease us s-so much?"

"No, nothing, dongsaeng. T-they're just playing with us." Minji forced a smile.

"But, they called noona ugly!" Jihyung retorted, "And noona is much, much, much more prettier than those rich girls!"

"Thanks, kiddo. But it's okay!" Minji ruffled her brother's head, "Now, you're hungry right? I still have a 1 won coin here, I'll buy you some bread, okay?"

"Thank you, noona!" Jihyung's eyes lit up. "Yay, we're having bread today~"

Minji walked up to the bakery and stared at the display through the window, swallowing her saliva hungrily. She knocked on the door and waited for someone to come out. Finally, after what seems like a decade, a fat man came out in an apron, annoyance was written all over his face. 

"And what do you want!?' He yelled. "Go away, you're blocking the way, peasant!"

"Sir, sir! I-I'm here to buy bread, can I have one slice?" Minji looked through her pocket for the 1 won coin.

"Hah! You want a slice of bread?" The man laughed hysterically, he spun around and called inside. "Yah, get a slice of bread out here for the peasant girl! Take the one that worth 1 won!"

Another middle-aged man came out with a tiny piece of bread and handed it to the fat one, he took it gladly and held up his hand to give the piece of bread to Minji, but then abrubtly threw it on the floor and stomping on it cruelly.

"No!" Minji cried, "it's for my brother!"

The two men continued to laugh as Minji knelt down to pick up the mashed bread, weeping. Until hard footsteps came closer to Minji, she slowly looked up and saw a charming guy about her age, staring at the two men in anger, a crown was on his head. Minji turned her head to look at the men, they started to panic.

"Prince Kim!" They quickly knelt down, followed by Minji. "Please, how can we help you?"

"Give this poor girl some bread, high quality ones!" The so-called Prince Kim shouted.

"But-but Sir!"

"Now!"

➥ {author's notes} Hello, everyone! The name is _justpeachy, and this is my first fanfic /dances gangnam style/~~ I suddenly have this idea when I was in class, studying about the film "The Princess Bride", that's where the title came from too! But I swear I'm not copying the storyline in the film, I'm just basing on it so yeah, don't worry! Also, if you're confused, this story is set in the old days so yeah, there are still princes and things! Also, I'm just a 13-year-old kid who's still studying English so please excuse my grammar and vocabulary errors!
