KPOP Scenarios

You tightened the straps to your small backpack as you and your friends mapped the way to Space Mountain, moving your hand up to wipe the sweat that was starting to break across your hairline. Your group of friends had decided to go to Disney World on one of the hottest weeks of the year and you were starting to regret your decision to come. You knew that your friends had wanted to spend some time together this summer, especially with you spending the last two semesters of college traveling between South Korea and China, but did they really have to pick somewhere that had so many people?

No, we have to go this way!” You sighed in frustration and grabbed the map from them, turning the map the right side up before taking off walking in the direction you needed to go. They fell in step behind you and tried their best to keep up, breaking into random conversation about what rides they wanted to get through today. As you got closer to Space Mountain, you felt your mood life slightly as the sun crept behind the clouds and took some of the heat away. You looked towards the ground for a while before you felt your body colliding with someone else. You knew you were going to fall backwards and stuck your hands on behind you to catch yourself. You felt hands wrap around your triceps and your fall was stopped.

Are you okay?” You looked up to see a male a little taller than you looking down at you. He had heart shaped lips and wide eyes. You felt that he looked familiar but his gaze was so mesmerizing that you couldn’t think of anything else. You cleared your throat and nodded, standing up straight and brushing your shirt off as the air grew awkward.

I’m fine, thank you,” you replied, looking back up and smiling, nodding your head slightly before looking to see your friends slightly ahead of you, “Sorry for bumping into you!” You bowed slightly out of habit before rushing off to catch up with your friends. You had finally reached Space Mountain and were waiting in line, jumping slightly to see how far the line went up and sighing. “We’ve still got about five minutes before we’ll be able to go on it.” You didn’t love rollercoasters, but they were pretty fun. You used to be afraid to go on them but ever since your friends convinced you to go on one two years ago, you had to ride at least one every time you went to the amusement park. You heard your friends talking about the latest Korean Pop band and decided to tune them out. It wasn’t that you hated the music, it was that you didn’t really have time to follow the media and bands. You listened to the music sometimes, but found yourself liking more Japanese bands, such as Cocoa Otoko and Kiss-My-Ft2, in what little free time you had.

Yeah, supposedly they’re here today!” you heard one of your friends squeal, bringing you back to the conversation. You furrowed your brow as the line moved up and the others began squealing along with her.

Really!? I can’t believe it! We could see them in person!” You raised your eyebrow before shaking your head, turning away to glance at the people who had just gotten behind you. You found yourself almost laughing at the irony as the man you ran into earlier was there, talking low to some of his friends. You hummed to yourself, smiling as you turned away, hoping he didn’t see you.

“Tao, stop being a big baby,” you heard one of the taller guys say in Korean, their tone teasing but clearly the worry was there in the way he had began patting the other’s shoulder.

“I’m not!” Tao, or at least you assumed, replied, brushing the other’s hand off his shoulder.

“Hey, Kyungsoo-hyung, isn’t that…” you heard one say but remained facing slightly away, watching your friend’s out of the corner of your eye. They were now facing towards the ride, jumping, as you all got closer.

“What, Sehun?” the next one that spoke had a smooth voice that you found yourself smiling at. You cleared your throat silently, reaching a hand up to fan yourself as your face heated up at the thought of it being the good-looking man earlier. “Oh!” You felt someone tap on your shoulder hesitantly and you turned around, finding said man smiling brightly at you, “Hello again!”

“Hi…?” you bowed your head and smiled nervously, moving up with the line again before returning your gaze to him.

I did not… get a chance to… say sorry,” you could tell he was struggling slightly to find the right words and you couldn’t help but find it adorable. The smile remained on his face but his brow would furrow at every pause.

It’s okay,” you held your thumbs up, smiling as you tilted your head, looking behind him at his friends that were all laughing behind their hands except one that looked like he was about to drop to the floor in amusement. You both were silent for a moment before you turned back, finally reaching the front of the line. Your friends got into a cart and you cursed as you realized there was five of you, leaving one of you by themselves. You saw that your friends had paired up and shrugged, setting your bag in the cubby hole before crawling into an empty pair of seats at the start of a new cart. You sat in silence as you waited for the ride to start, hoping no one sat beside you to make it awkward. Your wishes weren’t answered when a body sat next to you and strapped in. You glanced over and sighed, seeing the same man once again. You grinned, tapping your chin before speaking up, “Are you following me?”

“You speak Korean?!” Kyungsoo was his name, you noted silently from before. Kyungsoo looked at you in shock, his bright eyes expanding even wider as he grew a smile on his face. You hummed softly nodding, pointing to the ID that hung off your bag, stating that you were an international student.

“I study in South Korea and China,” you replied, smiling back, “I’m better at Korean than Mandarin, but I know enough of both to get by. I’m learning though!” You heard him laugh and smiled more, turning forward as the belt locked and the ride began. You didn’t get to talk much after that due to yours and his screaming. The ride ended and he was ushered off before you could say anything. You shrugged, getting out and grabbing your bag before meeting up with your friends. “Hey, why don’t you all go to the next ride while I go sit down, okay? It’s getting a little too hot for me and I need some water.” They agreed and left, leaving you to find a venue. You found a side cart and smiled, going to grab water and finding a table to sit down at. You sat in silence, thinking back to the man that you seem to keep running into. He was cute, that much no one could deny, and he seemed pretty funny by your few encounters. But you couldn’t help but to think that he really looked familiar. You sighed and pulled out your phone, turning on tetris and playing before shadows fell over you. You looked up to see Kyungsoo standing by you with a tray of food, his friends behind him.

“Can we sit here?” you couldn’t speak so you nodded, watching as they filled up the benches, a few having to go to grab chairs and bring them over. Kyungsoo’s friends began talking as Kyungsoo began eating beside you, “I saw you sitting here… Where are your friends?”

“They wanted to ride another one and I got thirsty,” you said quietly, “So I decided to sit out this one and they’re meeting me later.” He hummed, nodding as he continued to eat. You looked around the table, feeling that sense again that you should know who these people are.

“So, I just realized you don’t know my name!” you looked back to Kyungsoo, smiling and deciding to play along.

“Do stalkers usually tell the people their name?” you teased lightly, chuckling as a few of his friends laughed, bumping his shoulder.

“I guess this one does,” he replied, sending a glare to the other boys before smiling back at you, “I’m Do Kyungsoo!”

“________,” you replied, bowing your head slightly at him before taking a sip of water.

“So, you study internationally? Are you from around here?” he asked, pushing his empty tray away and leaning against the table, looking to you.

“I spent my first two years of college in Indiana at IUB,” you smiled, leaning against your hand, “Then for two years I’ve been traveling between China and South Korea, finishing up my studies. By the end of next semester, I will have my teaching degree in three languages.” You hummed, looking over him, “What about you? Do you go to school?”

“Uh…” you saw Kyungsoo freeze and look confused before smiling softly, “Ah, I’m into the performing business. We all are.” He gestured to his friends who froze, their wide eyes looking at Kyungsoo. You raised one brow, looking between the two of them.

“Should I know who you are?” you asked, smiling weakly, “Sorry, if you’re not Cocoa Otoko, The Gazette, or Kiss-My-Ft2, then I probably don’t know you.” They all relaxed as if they let out a breath of air in relief.

“We’re not that popular,” one spoke up, smiling but looking uncomfortable. You shrugged, smiling back at them.

“I’m sorry, again,” you replied, shrugging your shoulders slightly.

“No!” Kyungsoo spoke quickly, causing you to jump slightly at the volume of his voice, “No, it’s nice. To not be recognized.” He smiled softly at his band mates before turning back, “Sometimes it’s really nice to be treated human.” You were about to say something before your phone rang. You sighed, sliding the bar and answering it.

You all done?” you waited for a reply as Kyungsoo’s friends returned to their own conversations.

Yeah, I think we’ve covered everything for today,” your friend replied and you heard rustling in the background, “We can cover Epcot tomorrow.”

Alright, I’ll meet you by the entrance, okay?” they hummed before hanging up and you looked at Kyungsoo in apology, “I’m sorry but we’re heading back to the hotel for the day.” You saw Kyungsoo’s shoulders sag slightly as he nodded, frowning.

“Oh, alright,” he cleared his throat, standing up and pulling out your chair for you. You grinned as his friends all laughed again and he glared at them, “It was nice stalking you.”

“It was a pleasure to be stalked by you, Kyungsoo,” you smiled, bowing slightly before turning to walk away. You felt a hand wrap around your wrist and turn you back, Kyungsoo holding you from leaving.

“Wait _______!” he spoke quickly, letting you go and going to grab a napkin and marker from his back, scribbling something on the napkin quickly, “Uh… Here.” You looked down, seeing his name written on the napkin. Below it was an email address and skype ID. You looked up and saw him smiling nervously at you, “Maybe we could keep in touch? And if you’re ever in Seoul and want to hang out… well…”

“Kyungsoo…” You smiled, holding out your hand, “Can I see your phone?” He nodded, pulling it and handing it to you as he watched in confusion. You typed your number into his phone, saving it under ‘Your Obsession’ and inputting your email and Skype as well, before grinning, handing it back. “Call me, okay?” You reached up, pressing your lips against his cheek gently before bowing and leaving, the smile not leaving your lips the entire day.
