"We will begin questioning in the case involving custody of three year old Kwon Chae Yoon.  Miss Lanston, you first met Chae Yoon when you moved into her house as her nanny, is that correct?"

"Yes, it is," I answered, sitting up straighter.  The feel of the eyes of every single person in that courtroom made the blood rush into my face.

"And when did your relationship with Chae Yoon's father, Kwon Ji Yong, begin?"  Soo Young's lawyer began pacing a few steps in front of where I sat.

"We..."  The words backed up in my throat.  My eyes flickered over to Seung Hyun and then to Ji Yong.  Both were watching me, expressionless.  "Almost right after I became Chae Yoon's nanny."

The lawyer hummed thoughtfully and stopped pacing.  "Because you were attracted to his money and the life he could provide for you?" 

I scoffed.  "No, sir," I replied slowly.  I caught Seung Hyun's face in the corner of my eye.  My chest tightened.  I looked at Ji Yong.  "I was attracted to Ji Yong as a person.  I love him."

"So you married him, legally?" the lawyer questioned casually.  I wasn't going to let him trip me up.  Soo Young was not going to win this.  Conniving .

"Yes, I did.  Last month, we got married," I answered flatly. 

No matter how hard I tried to block Seung Hyun from my vision and focus only on Ji Yong in my mind with my eyes set on Soo Young's jerk lawyer, I still saw Seung Hyun get up and walk out of the courtroom.
