State of Chaos

Mon Amour

chaptertwo.

"I can't do it. I can't keep acting like it'll be okay because it's not. Nothing ever is."

Such heavy words seemed to be the only thing on his mind nowadays. Ever since the night of the party, he had been unable to stop these constant replays of the past. He had done a wonderful job the past four years; sweeping away every last thoughts of her by piling on loads of work. He had always known that he was weak, but four years had given him some growing up to do. He was no longer the boy that got his heart played with; he had stopped yearning for the fantasy they had built together.

Needless to say; he was a changed man. After her, he refused to be the same pitiful little boy, he was bound to make a name for himself.  He was finally done being in her shadow; and he had done it. He was the producer of every aspiring singer's dreams. He was in his prime.

..but it was all a lie.

He knew, that he had never truly been content with the way things were. Something inside told him that he was always, always living the wrong dream.

Always.

"Um…. hi." A meek little voice uttered.

A loud ring chimed in his head as he opened his eyes to an empty room. The unfamiliarity of the room seemed to surprised him a bit; he couldn't remember the last time he had woken up in a stranger's room.

It wasn't until he had caught wind of a sweet scent that he realized he was not the only person in the room.

"Why are you here?"

He didn't mean for it to sound so defensive but with the chaos in his head, he couldn't help but let out a bit of frustration.

To his surprise, the girl let out a chuckle before answering him, "It must've been the alcohol but you were passed out in the hall ways. People were starting to crowd the hall so a couple of your friends helped carried you into the guest room."

It was strange; the way she spoke. It hadn't struck him that this was the same girl he ran into the night before; it was as if the way she spoke had put his heart at ease. The throbbing pain in his chest from the remembrance of Kim Taeyeon had somehow dispersed and all he could focus on was the way she spoke

"Junho said that he had a meeting to attend and that you were ill so he asked me to look after you." She said shyly.

Again, he sat in silence.

There was something about her that reminded him of a younger Kim Taeyeon. He didn't know her personally, but he had always heard numerous praises about her. She was the golden girl with a beautiful voice and a pure heart to match. Her ambitions sprung her to fame and fortune at the mere age of eighteen but her purity had kept her grounded. He was personally asked once, to produce her debut single. It was back when Taeyeon's sudden disappearance had led the record label into a disarray and everyone was frantically searching for the next Kim Taeyeon.

Of course, he refused.

When he finally walked out on her; they both went their separate ways. She was at her prime during the time and their breakup couldn't tear her away from her career. However, after awhile, the public began to see less and less of her, and before you know it, she had disappeared from the music world. Not a single person knew where she was; everyone was left blindsided by her disappearance. Just as her entrance into the music scene was all sorts of crazy, her exit was not so far from it. The music scene had gone quiet, nobody could've matched her caliber. And then waltz in Ji Eun with her dazzling features and soft spoken voice. Needless to say, the media had found the next Kim Taeyeon.

With the arrival of the new "it" girl, the rumor mill began to churn and he couldn't help but be engulfed in some of them.

"Famed music producer Jang Wooyoung to lend his magic touch in producing one of the most anticipated debut of the year!"

"New 'it' girl, new muse? Rumors has it that producer Jang Wooyoung has plans for a major comeback with the next Kim Taeyeon."

"Jang Wooyoung caught holding music sheets, possible top secret debut song coming our way?"

Some of them were ridiculous and mere speculation so he decided to shrug them off.

And of course, there were no truths to those rumors. He had no plans to be a part of her debut nor did he even want to be associated with her in any way. He couldn't bare the thoughts of being defined by yet another golden girl. He couldn't risk the chance of shaking things up. He liked the way things were; normal. In truth, he was afraid. Afraid that too much spotlight on him was going to bring back the memories he had locked away so carefully. The years had given him some insights into their relationship. He didn't hate her, but he couldn't forgive her either. How could he, when even the mere mention of her gave him pains he couldn't even imagine. And not the mention the amount of public scrutiny he received back then.. no, he couldn't put himself through that again.

"Do you want me to leave?"

He had forgotten the fragile figure still sitting atop the chair next to his bed. He shifts uncomfortably, unable to form coherent thoughts. Parts of him knew that it was a bad idea; to have her hanging around him. Another part of him was literally ushering him to kick the girl out the room--out of his world.

And yet, to this day, he could never figure out why he never got the courage to say it. He was Jang Wooyoung.. the years spent with her had turned him cold. He was the type to spend his days alone. Even at work, he made no attempt to approach his coworkers. Hell, he couldn't even be bothered to make friends like Junho if it wasn't for his constant pesters. Rumors spread that he was full of himself, but the truth was; he craved loneliness, as if his life depends on it. He seeks comfort in knowing that there was nobody he could trust because it meant that there wasn't any way anyone could get to him..

...to hurt him.

But actions speak louder than words and he wants to kill himself for the thing he was going to do next..

"Stay."

A/N:

I'm a terrible person, I know. I never anticipated that college was going to get in the way of so much but it did and I'm truly sorry for not updating. The truth is, I'm extremely picky. I can't seem to put up chapters that aren't deemed 'satisfying'. In fact, the reason why I decided to post this up even though it's no where close to what I would like it to be is because I received so many encouraging messages that I feel like I owe something to you all. I can only write when I'm inspired and I haven't been inspired to write anything lately. Hopefully, I can try to at least get this somewhere close to a short story? Idk.. it was planned as a long story but I have no attention span for that so it's probably going to be around 5-6 chapters.. maybe? We will see..

Thanks for still sticking with me :)

Chapter 3: Oh and taengxo's also one of the few reaaally decent wootae authors left as well. I hope you three will continue shipping wootae. If only other wootae authors would come back as well, that would be so good and would really revive my heart for wootae.

Chapter 3: Of course I'll always support your stories! It tests our patience and we may even annoy you so much with our constant nagging, but who can resist your amazing pieces? Will you update your other stories too? I hope so! There's hardly any decent wootae authors nowadays apart from you and tintedglass. I'm so looking forward to your updates! Yaaaaaaaayy finally! Taengoo's back! I always love reading angsty stories about wootae. They suit every genre but angst is their forte. Lol. Thank you for the update!

Chapter 2: Please tell me it's going to be Wootae eventually? Like you, I'm also not into the newer generations at the moment. I like IU...but I can only picture Woo
with Taeng. Ahhhhh the angst from your previous one shot was so intense, my heart constricted for Youngie. Ahhhh I hope the resolution will come soon and bring back Wootae in each other's arms. I've had too much angst from them by other authors, let there be a happy ending for them this time, please? You're one of the decent Wootae authors here and please...let it not be another sad/heartbreaking ending. Ahhh. My heart. Lol. But seriously, your plot is amazing. The way you've laid it out is just wow. Keep it up! No pressure, but tbh I really hope you'll update soon. ^^
