Round 3: March Madness

The Sky Is The Limit || Writing Contest (CLOSED)

Welcome to TSITL Tournament
March madness: round 1

In this round, you guys will be competing against each other in a single-elimination tournament.
The challenge of this game is how to use the "ball" wisely. We will give each game pair the same prompt.
Each round will begin on the given date: March 2 & last  2 weeks long unless stated otherwise.

In the "game", the "referees" will check on creavity, originality & grammar. Also if the link of our contest & the prompt is listed in the foreword / description.

If someone forfeits / doesn't finish in time, the opponent wins that round.
If 2 people don't submit for one round, we will rule that as "N/A". So in the next round, the person going against the "N/A" still has to submit an entry to qualify for the round. (You may submit a drabble. Whatever floats your boat.)

The same process will repeat until only one person wins!

PLEASE MAKE SURE TO READ ALL RULES / FAQs / ANNOUNCEMENTS BEFORE ASKING US QUESTIONS!
PLEASE ONLY SUBMIT ONE COMPLETED ENTRY!

P.S. Sorry for not making a bracket. The website I used suddenly failed on me, but next round, there will be a bracket!

P.P.S. Use ctrl + f to find your username. And yes, all teams and prompts were chosen at random.

Start: 2 March, 12 am EST
End: 19 March, 12 am EST

THE STARTING TEAMS

myst-- vs. genieforyou14
prompt: "One writes of scars healed, a loose parallel to the pathology of the skin, but there is no such thing in the life of an individual. There are open wounds, shrunk sometimes to the size of a pin-prick but wounds still. The marks of suffering are more comparable to the loss of a finger, or of the sight of an eye. We may not miss them, either, for one minute in a year, but if we should there is nothing to be done about it." - F. Scott Fizgerald, Tender is the Night

Xtra4u vs. _milkshake
prompt: "The cold and the silence. The ashes of the late world carried on the bleak and temporal winds to and fro in the void. Carried forth and scattered and carried forth again. Everything uncoupled from its shoring. Unsupported in the ashen air. Sustained by a breath, trembling and brief. If only my heart were stone." - Cormac McCarthy

sunnedeerae vs. chocopretzles
prompt: "That's what the world is, after all: an endless battle of contrasting memories." - Haruki Murakami, IQ84

shining_writer vs. hyo_jinki
prompt: "I had all the characteristics of a human being - flesh, blood, skin, hair - but my depersonalization was so intense, had gone so deep, that my normal ability to feel compassion had been eradicated, the victim of a slow, purposeful erasure. I was simply imitating reality, a rough resumblance of a humna being, with only a dim corner of my mind functioning." - Bret Easton Ellis, American Psycho

beastlyoppas vs. itsme456
prompt: "I closed my mouth and spoke to you in a hundred silent ways." - Rumi

contradictori vs. thederpchanyeol

prompt: "Srong and independent? I'm neither. I'm just being pushed along by reality, whether I like it or not." - Haruki Murakami, Kafka on the Shore

BlackCarnation vs. cho-Pii
prompt: "It's easy to look at poeple and make quick judgments about them, their present and their past, but you'd be amazed at the pain and tears a single smile hides. What a person shows to the world is only one tiny facet of the iceberg hidden from sight. And more often than not, it's lined with cracks and scars that go all the way to the foundation of their soul." - Sherrilyn Kenyon

Kaosuhime vs. singaporetwins
prompt: "I like flaws and feel more comfortable around people who have them. I myself am made entirely of flaws, stitched together with good intentions." - Augusten Burroughs

SoaringCliche vs. SHINeeFever_95
prompt: As we stand there, it hits me how quickly everything changes - how life is like peering into a kaleidoscope, and just as you're looking at a gorgeous pattern you think you'd maybe even like to keep around forever, the colors morph into something completely different, and there's no gettng back to that first pattern. No matter how much you'd like to see it again." - Holly Schindler, A Blue So Dark

Or maybe, one day, I'll settle for second best. And on that same day, hell will freeze over, the sun will burn out and the stars will fall from the sky." - Iain S. Thomas, I Wrote This For You

Kpoptown vs. ifallelsefails
prompt: "We are all a volume of a shelf of a library, a story unto ourselves, never possibly described with one word or even very accurately with thousands. A person is never as quiet or restrained as they seem, or as bad or good, as vulnerable or as strong, as sweet or as fiesty; we are tickly layered, page upon lying page, behind simple covers. And love - it's is not the book itself, but the binding. It can rip us apart or hold us together." - Deb Caletti, Honey, Baby, Sweetheart

amster vs. TheNightingale
prompt: "Did you hear about the rose that grew from a crack in the concrete? Proving nature's laws wrong, it learned to walk without having feet. enlightened_ vs. Wonderboy
prompt: "I like the sea: we understand one another. It is always yearning, sighing for something it cannot have; and so am I." - Grata Garbo

layseokris vs. LolliLovee
prompt: "Everyone always wants to know how you can tell when it's true love, and the answer is this: when the pain doesn't fade and the scars don't heal, and it's too damned late." - Jonathan Tropper, The Book of Joe

Ee_JjangMe vs. chocolate--pies

Bearbear_990606 vs. alwayskpoplover

AutumnDreams vs. Alliekat_6
prompt: "There are two people you'lll meet in your life. One will run a finger down the index of who you are and jump straight to the parts of you that peak their interest. The other will take his/her time reading every one of your chapters and maybe fold corners of you that inspired them most. You will meet these two people; it is a given. It is the third that you'll never see coming. The one person who not only finishes your sentences, but keeps the book." - From Tumblr

FisieunL vs. primadonna1608

Alluring vs. Angel-of-the-Sea
prompt: "When we hold each other in darkness, it doesn't make the darkness go away. The bad things are still out there. The nightmares still walking. When we hold each other we feel not safe, but better. "It's all right," we whisper. "I'm here. I love you." And we lie: "I'll never leave you." For just a moment or two the darkness doesn't seem so bad." - Neil Gaiman

insertnamehere1 vs. awesomeGEE
prompt: "I've broken a few hearts in my times, but we've all done that, so I'm nothing special in that regard. I'm a boring heartbreaker, at that, because I've never abandoned one woman for another. I never dated or married more than one woman at a time. I didn't break hearts into pieces overnight. I broke them slowly and carefully. I didn't set any land speed records running out the door. Piece by piece, I disappeared. And I've been disappearing ever since." - Shawn Alexie, "What You Pawn I Will Redeem"

eseech vs. chrisachii
prompt: "That is why it's so important to let certain things go. To release them. To cut loose. People need to understand that no one is playing with marked cards; sometimes we win and sometimes we lose. Don't expect to get anything back, don't expect recognition for your efforts. Don't expect your genius to be discovered of your love to be understood. Complete the circle. Not out of pride, inability or arrogance, but simply because whatever it is no longer fits in your life. Close the door, change the record, clean the house, ger rid of dust. Stop being who you were and because who you are." - Paulo Coehlo

ryeowookiminda vs. Shakespeare
prompt: "Life will break you. Nobody can protect you from that, and living alone won't either, for solitude will also break you with its yearning. You have to love. You have to feel. It is the reason you are here on earth. You are here to risk your heart. You are here to be swallowed up. And when it happens that you are broken, or betrayed, or left, or hurt, or death brushes near, let yourself sit by an apple tree and listen to the apples falling all around you in heaps, wasting their sweetness. Tell yourself you tasted as many as you could." - Louise Erdrich

missuskwonjiyong vs. Eunhye
prompt: "Hope is a waking dream." - Aristotle

kiwibubblecat vs. PandaPop82
prompt: "A photograph never grows old. You and I change, people change all through the months and years, but a photograph always remains the same. How nice to look at a photograph of a mother or father taken many years ago. You see them as you remember them. But as people live on, they change completely. That is why I think a photograph can be kind." - Albert Einstein

cyndeeah vs. krissingyou
prompt: "When you left it was like there was this huge gap to fill, but instead of spreading wide enough to do it, I just fell right in, and I'm still falling. Like I'm half asleep, and I can't wake up, can't wake up." - Sarah Dessen, Dreamland

swabluu vs. skyblaze208

th_silenttear vs. Sunako
prompt: "The eyes of others our prisons; their thoughts our cages." - ia Woolf

qrystal vs. jessicathao

tillynilly vs. AbsolutelyAwesome
prompt: "I meant to write about death, only life came breaking in as usual." - ia Woolf

JongKey1221 vs. Kpoplovercynthia

leettaemiri vs. SweetWriter

summerchild vs. superelfing
prompt: "I loved you so much once. I did. More than anything in the whole wide world. Imagine that. What a laugh that is now. Can you believe it? We were so intimate once upon a time. I can't believe it now. The memory of being that intimate with somebody. We were so intimate I could puke. I can't imagine ever being that intimate with somebody else. I haven't been." - Raymond Carver, "Intimacy"

peacelovehugs vs. JeffJeff
prompt: "For it was not into my ear you whispered, but into my heart. It was not my lips you kissed, but my soul." - Judy Garland

PaleFlesh vs. peculiar
prompt: "I hadn't known that a light could be a feeling and a sound could be a color and a kiss could be both a question and an answer. And that heaven could be the ocean or a person or this moment or something else entirely." - Megan Miranda, Fracture

forestwhisperz vs. LadyBlackthorne
prompt: "No matter how careful you are, there's going to be the sense you missed something, the collapsed feeling under your skin that you didn't experience it all. ForeverKeyLocket vs. catchmeifyouwanna
prompt: "Humans have a knack for choosing precisely the things that are worst for them." - J.K Rowling

inspiritexoticbaby vs. 1stRateDreamer
prompt: "I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where, I love you simply, without problems or pride: I love you in this way because I don't know any other way  of loving but this, in which there is no I or you, so intimate that your hand upon my chest is my hand, so intimate that when I fall asleep your eyes close." - Pablo Neruda, 100 Love Sonnets
