Kai slumped down on the curb next to you and sighed. You kept your gaze on the street as you both waited for the bus.

"She said no again?" you asked him. 

You watched from the corner of your eye as he closed his eyes for a few seconds, took a deep breathe, and simply shook his head. You felt the small pang in your heart disappear becasue of his negative answer. You felt bad that you couldn't comfort him properly though. 

You were at loss for words, I'm sorry Kai, it gets harder and harder to comfort you. 

Finally you turned towards him, but now he was gazing at the street. You can see the slight hint of frustration in his eyes. 

"Kai." you stated. He ignored what you said at first, but finally turned and looked at you too. You gave him a sincere smile that reached to your eyes. 

"If she makes you happy, don't give up." although you said it to comfort him, you were telling yourself that as well. You watched as one corner of his plump lips pulled, forming a small smirk. His eyes gave off a slight gleam of hope. Slowly, his small smirk led to a full smile that pulled the corner of his eyes.

"What would I do without you, ______." he said with a small chuckle. He sprung on his feet as you both heard the bus down the street. You smiled, happy that you were able to make him happy. 

She really makes you happier than I can? You thought to yourself. Kai stepped aside and let you climb in the bus first. 

I can't give up, not yet.
