No one really likes going into crowded airports.

They’re never really any fun.

So this man sat near the window, waiting for the rain outside to stop so that the airplanes would finally be able to take off. He had been waiting inside the airport for almost an hour, his flight delayed, and his patience wearing thin.

He glanced at his watch for the nth time that minute. He should probably call ahead and tell them he’d be late.

And he did just that. He pulled out his phone and punched in a number. However a child’s giggle distracted him for a split second.

He turned his head behind him and saw a small child holding a penguin.

Not just any penguin.

But the very same one he had when he was young. The kid pushed the penguin into the seat next to him, and he got a good look at the name tag.

“Choi Seunghyun”

His heart stopped.

That was his name.

“Excuse me.. kid...who gave that toy to you?”

The kid turned to the man and looked at him with bright eyes.

“Daddy did!”

Daddy? Seunghyun slowly turned around. In the seats behind him, sat a couple. They held each other’s arms and laughed at the small child with the penguin.

Seunghyun opened his mouth to say something, then shut it immediately. He turned back in his seat and looked down onto the floor, staring at the piece of gum that had long been weaved into the carpet.

His best friend. His first love.

Married and with a kid.

He should have known.

Even a stuffed penguin couldn’t have kept him in Jiyong’s heart forever.
