Chap 24
The Tutor
“Junhyung!!” I looked up and saw Seungho hyung rushed into the room
“How’s she?” he asked
“She hasn’t woken up. Have you called Hana noona?”
“Yes, but there’s a snow storm that blocks the traffic. They’re finding another way to get back”
“But…”
“I think we should ask Mr. Jaehyun. I talked to her doctor and her condition is not good. She can’t wait for long” he sighed
“But you know that he doesn’t like her, it’s just waste of time”
“Then what should we do, Junhyung? If you don’t try, you just sit here and wait for miracle happen? How do you know he’ll reject?” he shouted at me
“Oh…” I nodded automatically
“Sorry. I’m overreacted” he apologized
“No, hyung. You’re not. I can’t think clearly since yesterday. You’re right. I should try” I smiled weakly
“Yes. You visit him when I try to contact some hospital to find suitable heart for Hyuna. Okay? Be strong, Junhyung-ah” he tapped my shoulders before leaving. How can I be strong seeing her like this?
“This is Kim’s company?” I looked at the huge building in front of me
“May I help you?” a staff asked me when I entered the building
“I want to meet Mr. Jaehyun” I stated
“Have you made an appointment?” she said
“No”
“If so, sorry. He… Sir, you can’t come there” I couldn’t wait any longer as I ran to the lift and pressed the highest floor. Hope he’s there.
When I reach, I see some secretaries outside a room with a big wooden door. I’m right, he’s here. The secretaries notice my appearance and are about to stop my way but I’m quick enough to enter the room before they catch me. There he is. He’s sitting at the desk while his daughter is fighting with the death. He looks surprised seeing me here.
“It’s okay. I know this guy” he signaled his secretaries to go out
“Junhyung, what are you doing?” he asked when I kneeled down out of sudden
“Please save her. I beg you. Please save Hyuna, sir” my vision got blurry
“Save Hyuna? What are you talking about?”
“I know you blamed her on your wife and your son’s deaths. But sir, it’s not her fault. Can’t you understand that she also lost her mother and her brother? Her pain’s same with yours. Maybe worst since she watched them die by her own eyes”
“Junhyung, what are you saying? I blamed her?” he was standing in front me
“After the funeral, she locked herself in her room because she was scared to see you, she was scared that you might hit her. She wore male clothes pretending to be Byunghyun, she hoped that you might come home again… Sir, please just once, save her”
“Wha… I… I thought…” he suddenly collapsed on the floor
“Sir?” I was clueless
“I thought she hated me because I wasn’t at home when the accident happened so she locked herself in her room. That’s why I didn’t come home. I thought she wore male clothes just for torturing me. I didn’t know that. I thought she hated me” his face turned pale and he was crying
“Sir…” I didn’t think he may think this way
“Tell me. What’s wrong with her? Where’s she? What do you mean ‘save her’?” he turned to me
“Sir, Hyuna has same sickness with your wife” I lowed my head
“What? Can’t be… Let’s go. Bring me to her. Hurry!!” he stood up immediately and dragged me with him
“Hyuna…” Mr. Jaehyun called as Seungho looked surprised standing beside me
“I… Appa sorry… Appa thought you didn’t like me so appa stayed away from you… Hyun-ah…” he kneeled down holding her hand and crying
“Have you found the suitable heart?” he asked after a while
“Y…Yes, sir. But it’s in Singapore. It need time to be sent to here” – Seungho
“No. We’ll come to Singapore. Prepare for the trip. Call Hana to come there as well”
“Ye… Yes sir” both Seungho and Mr. Jaehyun’s secretary answered in unison and went out do their work
“I can’t go with her” I knew they would leave without me
“Sir, the plane is ready” the secretary came back
“Good, ask someone bring Hyuna carefully to the airport” Mr. Jaehyun requested and the secretary left again
“Junhyung, thanks for taking care of Hyuna. I’ll take care of her from now. You can go home. You must be tired” Mr. Jaehyun shook hand with me
“You’re welcome, sir... I’m not tired. Can I see her for a while?”
“Ah, yeah. You can but make it quick. We’ll leave any second” he headed out
“You was just in my embrace few hours ago but now you are about to leave me. Did you hear? Your dad doesn’t hate you. It’s a misunderstanding. So please stay strong and be healthy when you’re back, Hyuna-ah…” I kissed her forehead
“Alright, let’s go. Be gentle” Mr. Jaehyun entered with a lot of people behind
Some of them start moving Hyuna’s bed and the machines. My hand which is holding hers slowly loses the grip.
“Remember to come back. I’ll wait for you” I looked at them walking away until they disappeared from far
{Monday}
“Huh? Where’s Hyuna?” Doojoon asked me right away after I entered the class
“Oppa!! Is that true? Did Hyuna really go to Singapore?” 4MINUTE rushed in
“MWO? When? Why didn’t you stop her?” – Doojoon
“She got into a car accident but Joe saved her and died. She got a heart attack and was unconscious. Her father brought her there to do the surgery… Now can you leave me alone? I’m tired” I sat down
“Arrasso…” their faces looked shocked but they still followed what I said
“She’ll be alright, oppa. Don’t worry” Gayoon smiled before leaving me alone
{Grade 12}
It has been about 8 months since Hyuna left but she hasn’t come back. I called Hana noona and Seungho hyung. Both of them said the surgery was successful but when I asked them to let me talk to Hyuna, they somehow both denied like she was bathing or sleeping. Should I believe them? I don’t know but I hope they’re telling the truth. The new semester has started. This grade is the most important year of my life. The scores in this year will decide if I can study in Seoul University or not. I have enough money to live there after being Hyuna’s tutor. I should be happy about that but I don’t feel happy. I can’t compose songs like before as well. I can’t concentrate on studying either. Everything seems to be uninteresting to me. My house after she left looks like a haunted house. What should I do if you don’t come back, Hyuna?
“Hyung!!” Yoseob pulled me out of my thoughts when he ran in
“What?” I looked at him
“Doojoon hyung is fighting with a junior in the garden. You should come to shop her. Kikwang and Dongwoon can’t stop him”
“MWO? Did he lose his mind? How can he fight with a junior?” I stood up and ran to the garden
I feel weird not seeing any crowd when I reach the garden. Yoseob doesn’t follow me either. I look around then stop at the spot. A familiar figure is standing beside the tree. The more I see her face clearly, the faster I run to her.
“You’re back” I finally pulled her into my embrace
“Of course, I’ll be back” Hyuna grinned
“You’re now healthy and talking well right?” I broke the hug and asked her
“Yep, see? I’m talking to you” she pinched my cheeks
“What took you so long? Why didn’t you call me?” I whined
“Appa wanted to spend time with me so I went to some countries with him and you always called at the time I was sleeping” she chuckled
“Really? I thought noona and hyung were kidding”
“No. It’s true. They sometimes got annoyed because you destroyed their sleeps but pretended to be normal”
“I didn’t know that”
“So… What did you prepare for me?”
“Prepare?”
“Yah!! I recovered. You should prepare some gifts” she shouted
“Why do I feel like wanting the mute Hyuna back?” I covered my ears
“You…”
“Kidding. I’m kidding. The gift is me. Like it?”
“What? Of course not”
“Yah!!...Ah, which school do you study now? In Seoul?”
“Are you blind, oppa? Can’t you see my uniform?”
“That means… That means you’ll stay here?”
“Yep. I skipped class too much so I need a tutor. The best tutor lives here so how can I live in Seoul?”
“Really? You are not joking, right?”
“Yep, and because my dad moves his business to Seoul as I’m homeless. That’s why I have to stay with my tutor. But I just heard that my tutor get lazy so… should I fire him?” she joked
“I’m so happy” I hugged her again
“I miss you, oppa” she held my arms
“I don’t miss you, Kim Hyuna…” I chuckled when her face expression changed at my unfinished sentence
“I love you” I kissed her as a smile plastered on her face before she kissed me back
