NICT Agent Room
06.20 PM

All agents are assembling again, including KangTa who is also in that room.

This time L is in the middle of the agents room.

“Lee Sungyeol is not guilty…” says L.

He continues by putting a folder in front of Leeteuk.

“Our hypothesis about Lee Sungyeol… I’m saying this, not solely to defend him… but this is based on facts in field… This is the lab result which just came out after being examined by Sulli-sshi…” says L.

Leeteuk immediately opens the files. He carefully reads the lab results, making everyone curious and want to know the lab result.

“The fingerprints of the six corpses are not the same as those on the weapons… All of them are different…” says L.

In other words, the six corpses weren’t the bank robbers who had done the shooting and installed the bomb.

Everyone are shocked hearing L.

“So who are those six people?” asks KangTa.

“For that one I’ve already asked SeoHyun… to investigate…” says L, then he glances at SeoHyun who is busy with her laptop.

“I’ve already got it… Like you suspected, L… four of them are bank employees… and the other two are normal citizens, most probably bank customers…” says SeoHyun.

“Wait… so which way did they escape through? How could they? The state around there was already surrounded by the police…” asks Leeteuk.

“Player change… This is their tactics… They deliberately broke all of the CCTVs so they couldn’t be seen when they changed their clothes and put those corpses into the elevator…” says L.

“What! Awesome! Haha…” DongHae claps his hands, Leeteuk eventually gifts him a glare, making DongHae freeze immediately.

“So… did they escape by pretending to be hostages?” asks KyuHyun.

“We got tricked this time… They installed a bomb… to divert our attention… We were already focused on evacuating first… We got tricked, they escaped by joining the hostages…” says L while snorting.

The agents immediately sigh heavily away and swallow bitterly.

“We thought the bomb was installed to break the bank’s safe… It had C4 shape but it was only the shape, the explosive power was very weak… so that bomb was really a mere sham only… From the beginning they indeed didn’t target the safe…” says L again.

“Indeed… Because the timing was really weird… If they intended to escape through the roof… why before the bomb explodes? And also if they targeted the jewelry or money inside the safe… How would they carry it? With sacks? It’s impossible, isn’t it?” says Amber, they start to understand this case.

“Hufh… so what did they target? They didn’t just do mischief like that, did they?” asks Krystal.

“Earlier L asked me to look after the money transfers in that bank at the robbing time… The result says that there was an amount of money transferred from that bank to a Swiss bank…” says SeoHyun.

“SeoHyun, you search for that account’s owner…” says Kangta.

“Use a license from the state’s intelligent agency… This probably counts to the terrorism category…” says Kangta.

“Hello… hello is anyone there?” I say while pounding onto the one-way mirror.

Damn. This matter could be serious, because of too much drink and the handcuffs.

It’s not funny if I wet myself here.

No answer from the one-way mirror, nothing. I go to the main door of this interrogation room.

“Hello there… Can you open this please? I need to go to the toilet… I swear, I can’t anymore… Hello…” I say while pounding onto the door.

“Oi… Oi do you want this room to smell like-”

Yes, the door opens and it successfully manages to hit my face as well. I fall right away because of that door.

“Mwo?” says a girl.

Oh dang! Why does it have to be her that appears here?

Krystal stands in front of me with a curious face. Such a sadistic woman, doesn’t she even feel guilty after opening the door as she wishes and hitting my face?

“Eh… Miss, can you take off this handcuff please? I really need to go to the toilet, I have to pee…” I say acting sweet, a little mistake could make her mad again and maybe she would even torture me until I wet myself.

“Pee? Tch…” she says.

She’s crazy, cruel, and also insane.

Have you ever experienced this before? Opening the pants zip only by using the left hand, while the right hand is still kept handcuffed and the handcuff is connected to Krystal’s left hand. Hell, does she think this is easy? Hey more than that, this kid followed me to the men’s restroom as well.

“Go apologize, quickly…” says L while elbowing Krystal.

“Ah… why do I need to apologize to this byun!” she says while looking at me cynically.

SSH! It seems this head is going to explode and slap her. Keep calm, Yeol, keep calm. She’s a little girl. Also still labile.

Adding to the problems, my right cheek just got slapped by her, earlier because I was in a hurry buttoning my pants, her left hand got pulled by my right hand, in the end her hand touched my ‘junior.’

We walk through the corridor together.

“Sungyeol-sshi, if I may know why you rejected NICT’s offer for the second time?” asks L, walking beside me.

“Because of that kid before…” I say quickly and a bit annoyed when I think about that Krystal.

“Ah… Krystal?”

“De… who else? I wonder… Is it that hard for her to say thank you and sorry? I wonder even more about why the NICT employs a person like her?” I ask.

“Hmh… You’re weirder then… You almost got all the A points at the NICT training but instead you rejected our offer twice…” says L.

I sigh and slow down my steps until I’m behind him, “I rejected it not without reasons… Try to answer why she can be in the NICT?”

“Do you want to know the answer? Why a kid like her is in this place? Hmh… Unfortunately I can’t answer it… If you want to know please consider our offer again… Because we indeed need a new member…” says L.

“Hemh… haha… You’re really interesting L-sshi…” I say with a smile.

L only smiles, hearing my praise.

“So this is indirectly a threat for me, huh? Ah no, it’s a checkmate from you? So that I join the NICT…?” I say while shaking my head.

“You’re quite smart at choosing your words… But unfortunately you’re all too naïve…” I say as I return my annoyed feeling to L.

L stops his steps.

“U.. us? Naive? What do you mean?” asks L.

“Well… Apparently you all just stick to one thing only… It’s sad, even a small thing was missed from your attention… Like before… You didn’t realize that they did a change and sneaked among the hostages… Especially that Krystal… I don’t really understand… Why she wanted to act like a whiz or whatever… Did she think she could defuse the bomb just with little knowledge?” I say as if I was slapping all NICT agents.

Then L turns, we both face each other.

“So you were at the site? What was your reason being in Gangnam? While the shop and your place are around Mokdong…?”

Tsk, he responds to my words again, as if this conversation would not come to an end.

An insult that is returned by a suspicion.

“Because of her…” I say slowly.

“Her?”

“Yes… her, that Krystal… At the moment when you went off by helicopter and I heard there was a shooting in Gangnam through radio in the taxi… That matter made me worried… I wanted to see with my own eyes, when that kid is in action.. And it turns out exactly like I feared… She became a hole to you…” I say.

L smiles again.

“So you were concerned about us? Or were you concerned about her?”

I snort, this person….

L walks slowly in the corridor and he approaches the lab room. The room is already a bit quiet that night, a few employees have already gone home. He seems to be searching someone’s presence at that place.

L then pokes a woman’s back with his finger. That woman jerks, surprised when she felt someone poking her.

“L?” says that woman, she is Sulli.

L plays around with Sulli. Then he pulls out a chair and sits beside Sulli.

“Aren’t you going home?” asks L.

“More precisely I can’t go home… because of you…” says Sulli.

“Me?”

“Yes… because you… asked me to investigate those fingerprints, SeoHyun asked me to stay here in case we need further investigation…” says Sulli while taking off her glasses and undoing her ponytail. She does her hair which is now loose.

“Hmh… pretty…” murmurs L.

“Huh? What?” L’s voice was too low so Sulli didn’t hear him that clear.

“Aniyeo… can you inject some vitamin to me?” asks L, changing his words right away.

Sulli then looks at L’s face, it still looks a bit pale.

“You still lack rest…” says Sulli who then searches for something in the glass shelves and finds a syringe. She takes a vitamin C liquid and inserts it into the syringe.

Sulli then injects the vitamin C liquid into L’s left arm.

“Wow… it feels better…” says L with a smile after having the injection.

“Hehe… What a lie…” Sulli laughs and elbow L’s left arm.

Both of them laugh.

“Have you already eaten?” asks L to Sulli.

“Not yet… Yourself?”

“Hmh…” L stretches and then, GRUMBLE… L’s stomach grumbles quite loudly.

It made Sulli laugh again hearing the sound from L’s stomach, of course he hasn’t had dinner yet and he is surely very hungry.

“Do you want to find something to eat?” asks L.

“Yes, actually…” Sulli stops a moment after receiving L’s offer.

“But better… not with me…” rejects Sulli.

L just raises his brow, as he indirectly asks, ‘why?’

“Krystal… she suspects me of pointless things… We better not be too close… I don’t want that kid to think badly about us…” says Sulli.

“Hmh…” L just snorts and smiles slightly.

It’s already very very late, yet again I am involved in an oddity with the NICT. Moreover this time it’s until night.

I slowly push the shop’s door. Boss Shindong is already mad, surely. I didn’t take my cellphone with me and now I’ve just arrived at the shop at this time.

I see the light at boss’ room is still , I rush to that room, just to confess my sin, give the money for Amber’s car repair and maybe… say my farewell.

“Aigooo Sungyeol-ah you made us all worry…” says Shindong who is also in that room, apparently sighing, relieved when he sees my presence here.

“Psst… Don’t assume pointless things…” I say while asking Jisook to be quiet.

Dinner passed with quite a weird atmosphere. Finally both of us take a walk along the Mapo bridge that night. Jisook became quiet after my last words earlier. Maybe this is the time to explain something to her.

She finally stops her steps and looks at the Han river.

“Sorry… I suddenly made a decision like this…“ I say, I want to explain it but I can’t tell her that I’m joining the NICT.

“Have you been recruited as an NICT member?“ asks Jisook.

I’m speechless hearing her words. Why could she know about it? How come?

“Impossible, isn’t it? Hehe…“ says Jissok while laughing.

She already could guess it, maybe it wouldn’t turn to a big matter to explain to her.

“Aniyeo… you’re right… Jisook… I’ve been recruited by them…“ I say.

“Huhahaha… You’re so funny, Yeol… How could NICT recruit a mechanic?” says Jisook, she still thinks that it’s still a mere joke.

“Since a few months until today, I indeed was a mechanic… But did you know me before that?” I ask to Jisook.

Jisook falls silent.

“Last year I finished a training at the NICT… In other words, I’m already qualified to become an NICT agent…” I say.

L nods. “We’re trying to find location information of the address of that account… It is registered as a company in Russia…”

“Russia? Soviet Union? Is this related with the issue about the nuclear weapon made by North Korea?” Leeteuk wonders.

“We will continue this case… L…” says Leeteuk.

“SeoHyun, take a rest… Let Amber replace you…” Leeteuk gives a permission to SeoHyun who already looks tired.

“Alright, thank you…”

“Oh yes… Leeteuk-sshi… That person… That person has agreed to join us…” says L.

“That person? Who do you mean? Lee Sungyeol?” asks Leeteuk.

L nods.

“Hmm alright… You just coordinate him tomorrow… and tomorrow after his arrival we’ll start our meeting as a full agent team…” says Leeteuk.

“I reject him!” suddenly Krystal stands up and looks at L.

I drive my favorite Lancer Evolution III car to the NICT. As soon as I arrive I’m immediately greeted by L and Amber who are standing guard in front of a wire fence which seems to conduct high electricity, I can’t imagine what would happen if I touched it.

“Yo…” I greet as soon as I stop this vehicle in front of them both.

“Hello…” greets Amber who responds to my greeting, while L walks towards me right away.

“Cellphone? All communication devices? And other objects made from metal, please put them in here…” says L while taking out a black bag.

“Huh?” I’m surprised, unlike the previous security when I delivered the car that time.

“Just quickly take them out, it’s a procedure…” says L while waving his bag.

In a moment all of my properties are taken away by them, the only things left are the t-shirt and shorts. My jeans slip down because I had to take off my belt. My bag was taken by L. And also my vehicle isn’t allowed to go inside the NICT directly.

“Sorry, Sungyeo-lsshi this is a procedure, okay?” says Amber, she then gives something to me.

“This is your ID card, always carry this card in order to access the places at the NICT…” says Amber.

And my face on that ID card is very… absurd…

“Sorry but this is a procedure…” he says while looking straight to the corridor which goes to the basement.

“Procedure…” says L.

Okay whatever it is called, I clearly get it a bit that at that time I was slightly trapped so that I could get in and meet Kangta who was inside the NICT. However the regulation is different now.

“And my clothes? Where is my bag? I can’t wear a thin t-shirt and shorts like this, right?” I say again, starting to feel uncomfortable.

Me and L are now inside the elevator.

“Here, you can wear this…” says L, he takes out a set of a white shirt, a blazer and a pair of black pants for me from the brown bag he has been carrying all the time.

I arrive in that room.

“Sungyeol-sshi, you can take this table,” L then puts a thick folder onto my table. He puts the other folders in that room.

“You can read them before the meeting starts later…” he says while tapping my shoulder and leaves myself alone in that room.

HUH. What the hell is this.

I thought there would be a small party and we would open a bottle of wine. But instead I’m ordered to wait and read… what is this? A report of yesterday’s incident? It’s so thick! Even more than a textbook of elementary students. I nag while lifting up that folder. I start trying to fight against my laziness and open the first page of that folder.

08.30 AM

I have already been gawking for twenty minutes. I have already finished reading the report, the main points. There hasn’t been one single creature other than me and a lizard that is passing near the ceiling light.

SRAKK! The glass door slides open. Oh it seems there is another agent coming. I look at the door right away. But I shouldn’t have looked at that door, Krystal comes into the room. Without even regarding me she immediately pulls a chair and sits on her seat. Her table is only separated by a slot from mine. She crosses her arms right away and looks straight to the front.

I can only see the side of her curt face. She lets her long brown hair loose. Maybe she’s actually pretty if she smiles. But annoying if she already starts talking.

“Mwo? What are you looking at? You better just read that report… The meeting will start later at 9 AM…” she says, not even looking at me.

Okay I may classify there are two similar persons in this place. Curt-faced humans, L and Krystal.

SRAK! Once again the door opens, this time I already don’t care much about who is coming into this room.

“Yo… Yo what up doe… Who is this? Who is sitting beside me…” then that guy figure pulls the chair beside me right away.

“Hello, you’re surely Lee Sungyeol, right?” he says while offering a handshake.

I immediately stand up, “Ah hello… I’m Lee Sungyeol…”

“Our family name is the same… I’m Lee DongHae…” he says, smiling right away.

“Annyeong…” says another guy who immediately pulls the chair in front of me.

Oh the guy I met at Mapo some time ago, he was the one who held me from the ‘murder’ threat by Krystal.

“I’m KYU… You’re surely Lee Sungyeol, right?” his way of greeting is a bit different, he bows.

“Annyeong haseyo…” I say.

Then Amber appears, “Hello Yeol agent!” her greeting is also different, Amber greets me with a smile and taps my shoulder.

“Oh hello Amber-sshi…” then Ambere sits down beside KYU.

I talk a bit with he three, except Krystal who is still silent, not even moving, looking at the table in front of her. A table which is still empty, its owner hasn’t arrived yet.

Once again that door slides open and L comes inside. He goes to the table in front of Krystal right away.
