Journey to Australia

Feel My Heartbeat

Chapter One: Journey to Australia

The young male sat in his designated seat on the flight heading towards Australia. He slowly closed his eyes, letting his mind drift back to the memories of the last time he had visited that country. Why was he going back to that particular place? His companion had successfully persuaded him to embark on this journey once again. A plane ticket, a wrapped up camera, a package, a letter, and that last item, a photo of him, was what had urged him to go.

"Sir, would you like anything to drink?" The flight attendant asked disrupting the man from his thoughts.

His eyes opened and he let a small smile decorate his lips. Turning to face the woman, he shook his head, "No thank you, my stomach's a bit upset"

"Then I'll bring some tea to calm your stomach" With that, the flight attendant left to get what she promised.

The male let his eyes roam out the window that showed nothing but white, puffy clouds. He let his fingers slide across the neatly written words on the letter I've decided to step back into last year's incomplete journey in order to feel our heartbeat in that time again.

"So let me get this straight, you guys stood me up and now you're linking me to dating websites? You've got to be kidding me"

Frustration could not begin to explain the feelings that this young man was going through. Today was not going as well as he planned it to be. First, he got up late and nearly missed the train that was headed to the airport and secondly, his friends had decided to not show up. Could things get any worse? He let out a sigh and rubbed his temples to rid himself of unwanted stress that was building up. He knew it wasn't their fault for cancelling but...couldn't they have at least tried to shirk off the responsibilities that popped out of nowhere? This trip to Australia was arranged before Christmas and they had all been planning it for quite a long time now. He just could not believe that they just bailed on him all of a sudden. It was just beyond horrible; so much for sticking together.

"Earth to Jongdae-ah, are you still there?" The voice on the other end of his cellular phone asked, a bit concerned.

"Yea, I'm still here Wu Fan Ge but seriously, this is too much" The said male answered "We've started to plan this trip since high school! What do you expect me to do?!"

"Relax Jongdae-ah, just go to Australia as planned, we've got the rooming and everything done for you so don't worry about that" Wu Fan advised, trying his best to calm his frustrated friend "Look, just have enough fun for me, Yixing and Zitao okay? Give me a call when you arrive at Australia, bye" With that Wu Fan disconnected and Jongdae closed his phone slipping it back into his pocket.

He shook his head and glared at the iPad in front of him that had an opened window. It showed the dating site that his friends sent. What was the actual meaning of this? He was not interested in such things. Wu Fan had Zitao as his boyfriend and Yixing had someone in South Korea named Kim Joon Myeon. Jongdae was the only one in the friendship circle who had no one special in his heart. Though, he had to admit that it was annoying to know that he was the one without a boyfriend. He started to think something was wrong with him. The male shook his head again as an attempt to push those thoughts away They're making me feel like I'm an alien or something! He took a glance around the airport's waiting area and realized that there weren't a lot of people heading to Australia. Brushing it off, he scrutinized the piece of technology while inwardly cursing his friends for abandoning him.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Tell me again, why must I tell you where I go? Last I checked, it's my life" A young man said into his cell phone. On the other end, a stressed out sigh was heard.

"Okay then how about this, I'll obediently go back after I'm done with what I have to do" He continued, trying to convince the other person that he would keep his word. Sure, he did run away and is not in the position of being trusted but, he did not want to be found; especially not now.

He was on a mission and there was absolutely no way anything would get in the way of it. The short male shifted his bag from his left arm to his right arm as he slowly made his way into the gate's waiting area. To his surprise, it was not as full as he had expected. There were about five other passengers apart from him. He sat down and placed his bag on the seat next to him as he listened to the person drone on and on about going back and that it was unsafe for him to travel.

"Listen Minseok-ah, just don't go to Australia" The man advised "Stay in Seoul, it's better that way"

"As long as I don't use my credit card, you won't find me right?" Minseok asked ignoring the man's pleas "Then, good bye!"

He hung up and stuck out his tongue at his phone before putting it back in his pocket. He could not help but grin at the little free time he was able to get for himself. Even if it is for a short period of time, he was actually content with what he accomplished. Fortunately, there weren't anyone after him at the moment which was a relief to him. However, knowing that person, he would definitely hunt Minseok down personally. Running his fingers through his dark brown hair, his mind drifted to what he planned to do next. He had all the time he needed on the flight to Australia but why not start early? Knowing that guy, he's gonna pop out somewhere! He scares me a bit too much... Shaking his head, he checked the time on his wristwatch. He had enough time to eat and use the bathroom before his flight could be called. Minseok grabbed his bag quickly and scurried off to do so and returned just in time.

"All passengers for Flight 143, please proceed to Gate 48 for boarding"

Upon hearing this announcement, Minseok walked straight towards the gate terminal giving his ticket and passport to the flight attendant before embarking on the aircraft. The sound of footsteps and voices were heard behind him as the other passengers were boarding. As he checked for his seat amongst the labels he passed, he had not noticed that the person in front of him stopped walking which caused Minseok to bump into the man. He took a step back and bowed in apology.

"I'm sorry" He said, quickly apologizing since there were still others following behind him.

"It's fine, don't worry about it" Jongdae replied "Just give me a second to put my bag in the compartment"

Minseok nodded his head and observed the man in front of him. He moved swiftly and had his bag in the compartment in no time. The one thing that caught his eye was his facial structure. It was handsome no doubt about it but, he had a very defined and unique face. He blinked a few times and averted his gaze when the male was done. The man shot a small smile towards Minseok before sitting down and motioning for him to walk on ahead. Minseok cleared his throat and returned the man's smile with a slight nod before he continued on in search of his seat. He didn't take long before he found it. It was approximately five seats further up from where he bumped into his fellow passenger. Just as he got comfortable in his seating arrangement, the plane took off into the sky.

The entire plane ride was peaceful and before he knew it, Australia was right outside his window. He was amazed to see the vast country from high up in the sky. It was breathtakingly beautiful and he just could not seem to stop staring at its beauty. He was also able to find the small island of Tasmania right to the bottom left of his view. It was unmistakenly the island he wanted to visit because of its undeniable resemblance to a human heart. When the plane landed, it was impossible for Minseok to remain in his seat. He was literally bouncing up and down, excitement taking over him.

"Welcome to Sydney International Airport. Thank you for travelling with us and we hope to serve you again. Please enjoy your stay in Australia."

Once the plane was at a complete stop, most of the passengers unbuckled their seatbelts and proceeded to get their carry on bags from the above compartment while the minority of them waited patiently to exit. Minseok was part of that minority as he stood waiting for the line of people to move. When the line had began to move inch by inch, he noticed the male with the handsome face just a few steps ahead of him. He kept his eyes on him until he was out of sight. Minseok shook his head, why was he craning his neck to keep a close look at the man?

"Am I losing it?" He whispered to himself as he followed the crowd to where his luggage could be found.

He kept looking around, turning and twisting until he gave up. Seriously, why was he wanting to find that male? He couldn't even remember how he looked anymore. All he knew was that his face was just one of the most handsome he'd ever seen. He brushed it off and took his luggage from the conveyor belt. When he was done, he made a hasty leave from Sydney Airport. He had to settle his rooming arrangement before he could go off exploring. As he stood waiting for a taxi, he sent a quick e-mail to the person who he was going to be sharing a room with. Just as he finished sending it, he boarded an available taxi and was headed straight to the hotel where he'll be residing for the next few weeks.

"Ah! Wait!" Jongdae shouted as he rushed towards that same vehicle but it was too late, it had sped off.

He sighed as he decided to call Wu Fan while he waited for another taxi. He dialed in the number and pressed the phone to his ear. After the second ring, Wu Fan answered.

"You made it to Australia safely?" He asked, concern lacing through his words.

"Yea I did, so where do I go now? I'm waiting for a ride so which hotel am I going to?" Jongdae replied as he scanned the bulk of cars for a taxi.

"It's called Four Seasons Hotel, it's not that far" He answered "Oh, you might want to check your e-mail, anyways good luck and have fun!" With that, Wu Fan hung up leaving a very confused Jongdae.

Was it possible to strangle one of your best friends? That was how Jongdae felt when Wu Fan disconnected. Scrunching up his face in distaste, he took his friend's advice and checked his inbox. There was one new message, was he that unimportant? Sighing, he opened it revealing a friendly short paragraph from his room mate.

Hi! I'm Minseok, I'll be your room mate while you're here in Australia! I'm heading straight towards Four Seasons right now so when you get there, I'll be waiting in the lobby. Send me a text when you reach, my number is 010-****-****.

Jongdae re-read the message a few more times before he looked up from his phone just in time to see an available taxi. He greeted the driver and placed his suitcases in the trunk before taking a seat beside the driver.

"Take me to Four Seasons Hotel please" Jongdae said before the car headed towards the designated location.

Here's the first chapter~! I'm so sorry if it took a me long while >~< It's because I wasn't sure what to write at first despite basing it off the short drama series D: Please comment to tell me what you liked about the chapter or what you disliked, what's on your mind when you read the chapter? Please? x3

I'm using their real names since this isn't a story where they are idols >~< They are just ordinary citizens lol XD Towards the end in the message Minseok wrote, the number is blank like that since I didn't want to use random numbers in case people try to call the number and stuff as a prank or something of the sort XD Though I know you guys wouldn't, right? >~>

Anyways, comment~~ And I hope you liked the first chapter and I hope you'd stick around for the entire story even though I may update really really slowly!
