Let's Just Fall in Love Again

The Queen of Hearts

I wanna fall in love with you again,

I don’t have to try

It was 4 AM and Jiyong knew he wouldn’t be able to get any sleep, his body was tired but his head couldn’t stop thinking. Thoughts after thoughts running inside his little mind, everything informed to him kept replaying in his brain like a broken record. It was 4.43 when he finally decided to get out of the room.

The boys were sprawled in the living room, TOP on the couch, Taeyang and Daesung on the carpet, and he found Seungri sleeping on the couch in Chaerin’s room.

Jiyong sat at the edge of her bed, trying to figure out what to do next, as if her sleeping figure would give him any answer. She didn’t look like she was having a nice sleep, her face still red from the fever despite the cold cloth placed on her forehead, her teeth clattering and she kept mumbling incoherent words.

He moved closer and wiped the sweats on her face, “Tell me Chaerin, what I should do about you? About all these?” he whispered, as crazy as it sounds to him, he knew the boys wouldn’t lie to him, as angry as he was, he knew they were still his friends.

“Oh-…” Chaerin’s voice brought him back to the present, her face scrunched up as if she was in pain.

“Chaerin? Hey… you okay?” He patted her cheek softly but she still wasn’t awoken.

“Oh… Omma…” Chaerin voiced out in a weak voice, little streaks of tear rolled down from the edge of her closing eyes, “Omma... cold…”

Jiyong felt like crying, this girl, whoever she was to him in the past had unknowingly stole his heart, and to know she had been through a lot, and to realize that he couldn’t do anything about it made him feel bad.

He her hair softly, fixing the blanket for her hoping it would give her more warmth. “Sshh… I’m here…” he whispered, his hands found their way to enclosed with hers and he could feel how they fitted so perfectly.

Maybe it was his tired body, or the warm Chaerin’s room, or her bed, or maybe even Chaerin’s presence that made Jiyong finally able to sleep. The sun was high when he finally woke up, Chaerin was still sleeping -soundly this time, but Seungri wasn’t on the couch anymore.

“Ah, you’re awake? Breakfast?” A smiley Taeyang greeted him once he was out of Chaerin’s room – not before he made sure the blanket was tucked in properly. Taeyang was wearing an apron different from the one he wore last time he cooked with Chaerin (which ended up succeeded because Chaerin did most of the cooking).

Jiyong scooted closer to the dining table, the aroma from the freshly cooked food lured him in. He hadn’t had his dinner anyway now that he thought about it. The house was quiet and he couldn’t help but to look around.

“The others went back home,” Taeyang explained as if he could read his thoughts, to which Jiyong only nodded.

The breakfast went quietly; there were millions of questions running in Jiyong’s head despite the explanations they gave him last night. Everything felt too absurd and surreal, what is this? Some soap drama?

“Chaerin has always been a dear for all of us,” Taeyang spoke suddenly, breaking his train of thoughts. Nevertheless, Jiyong knew whatever Taeyang would tell him was something related to his past, it might as well answered some questions jumbled in his head.

“But you were always the closest to her,” Taeyang continued, knowing that Jiyong listened to him although he said nothing and acted like the meal in front of him was the most interesting thing in the world.

“She didn’t like you at first,” Taeyang chuckled when he said this, “it wasn’t her fault, though. You really were so annoying,” he continued and Jiyong couldn’t help but to raise his eyebrow.

“You may not remember but you were the one who kept pestering her every day since the day we met her,” He wasn’t expecting this at all, as absurd as it sounded, Jiyong could feel that Taeyang wasn’t lying, and deep down inside he felt that he remember chasing after a cute girl named Lee Chaerin.

Knowing that he already had Jiyong’s attention, Taeyang continued his storytelling, “When you first saw her, you told us that she was the one,” he smiled his famous eye smile to his best friend.

Taeyang gathered their empty plates and brought them to the sink, “can you wake her up? I think it’s time to fill her tummy with some Taeyang warmth,” he asked Jiyong who was half-astounded. He nodded and moved anyway.

She was still sleeping peacefully and Jiyong couldn’t decide if he should really wake her up or to let her more rest, she didn’t seem to have enough quality sleep last night. So Jiyong just stood there watching her sleep, the words Taeyang said recalling in his head, why did it feel every time they filled him information, more questions formed in his head? If they were lying, they must be a damn good director to create all these scenarios.

He knew they told him the truth, though.

Deciding that he would let her some more sleep and give himself more time to think, he scooted closer to the bed ad sat on the couch beside the bed. He stared at the girl who was fast asleep in front of him, he chased after her? If he wasn’t in such huge confusion he believed he would smile over that fact, it sounded cute enough, and viable. To know that he was falling for her, it wasn’t hard to imagine. In fact, he had fallen all over again (although he wouldn’t say it out loud yet) by the span of two weeks’ time during the time they worked on their art project. He wasn’t sure what kind of boy he was, but the part where Chaerin ignored him, it was pretty believable too, knowing how cold of a queen she was.

So he decided, this time with a smile on his face, he had decided to start everything all over again.

“Hunchae-yah, wake up,”

They were sitting on the gazebo, Chaerin’s head lay on his shoulder and once in a while he fed her the porridge Taeyang had especially cooked for her (to which Jiyong secretly swore he would learn how to cook after this).

“Yummy~” Chaerin mumbled with smiling face, her eyes closed savoring the tasty meal. “Youngbae oppa is definitely the best cook,” she cooed. “Youngbae oppa is the best,” she continued happily, swinging her feet back and forth.

“I thought you like me best?” Jiyong retorded, half annoyed because he knew he couldn’t win her heart over food. He seriously needed to take cooking class ASAP!

“Hmm…” She thought as Jiyong fed her, “Jingyo oppa is the best!” She grinned, showing her pearly teeth proudly and he couldn’t help but chuckled at how cute she was, and of course he was happy to know that he was still the best for her, “but you can’t cook.” She finished, and as Jiyong glared at her, she only stuck her tongue naughtily.

He had never thought he would experience something like this, maybe he did and it was unfortunate he couldn’t remember. So this second chance he promised himself not to forget it ever again. He fully comprehended that Chaerin’s condition right now wasn’t stable; Taeyang had told him that when her life became miserable she would run to her young self where everything was happy and right. Of course, it was inevitable for him to feel guilty knowing he was the one causing the change.

Jiyong knew there were still some stories his friends hadn’t told him yet for whatever reason, but he got the picture already and after thoroughly thinking about it, he decided to believe them. His mission was to get his memories back and also to fix Chaerin, the one who was really broken.

He thought of Taeyang’s story earlier while feeding Chaerin, how he tried his best to get her attention and not succeeded until months later. To know himself doing such things, he concluded that he must be awfully in love with the girl beside him, but really when he thought it through, how could he not? She was independent, brave, cool and cold, but behind those layers she was still a girl, spoiled and sweet, no matter how much she tried to hide it.

She was like a puzzle, and Jiyong always loves puzzle.

Always.

“I seriously should ask Omma to teach me cooking, aren’t I?” Jiyong said desperately, Chaerin had finished her bowl of porridge and they both were proud of it.

“Your Omma?” Chaerin asked, surprise was evident in her tone.

He nodded his head, “Yeah, she’s like the best cook ever. She made you sandwich, remember?” Jiyong boasted about her mother’s cooking skill.

Chaerin was quiet for some time before finally speak in small voice, “But Mrs. Kwon can’t cook…” she whispered more like to herself but of course Jiyong could hear it, “and made me sandwich? That’s impossible…”

Jiyong’s eyebrow raised, “Why is it impossible? She’s seriously the best cook, geez… how can you say she can’t cook…” Jiyong snickered, only to find Chaerin staring at him with almost teary eyes,

“but Oppa, she hates me…”

author's note

Originally I wanted to end it at the word Always and leave the couple savor their moment for a while, but then the evil author in me thought it wouldn't be as fun for me to not leave a mystery behind. So there, a question for you~

Uhm, should I run now? Are any of you going to kill me now or you still want more update? So now it’s fixing Skydragon time! As they both were broken /sobs/. Anyway, I’m really sorry for not updating earlier, I’m not sure if you want to hear my excuses but I just have to say sorry and show off: I was busy taking care of my visa and stuff. Guess what? I’m going to Korea this weekend! Let’s see if I can meet any Bigbang or 2NE1 members (small chance, but still... who knows?)

K, comments? Thoughts? Pretty pretty please with cherry on Jiyong TOP?

edit: I thought I wrote a long chapter! Why is it so short? /wails/
