The most important thing when doing an OC is simple.
Candy-umma`s OC hospitalUse logic and make it realistic.
I cannot accent enought how important it is. When OC isn`t realistic is basically automatically a Mary Sue. He/She is supposed to be a REAL person in REAL world.
Make yourself questions. Could this happen? If this happens how it effects he/she? Is he/she too perfect? Can he/she actually have all these skills? Why can he/she speak this many languages fluently? I think most OC creators should ask themselves these kind of questions. I can imagine how much better many OCs would be after that.
He`s one example of unrealistic feature in OC. This one`s sadly common.
OC is pure Korean. He/She has never lived abroad or went to international school. He/She speaks fluent English.
Excuse me. WHAT? Why does he/she speak fluent English tell me? It`s true that this isn`t completely impossible. This actually applies to me, almost. I speak good but definedly not fluent English. I learned for example by readind fanfictions in English. So the OC still need REASON why he/she speaks fluent English. And why he/she has to have good English? Most kpop idols have horrible English and it even makes them adorable!
Another examples are OC having way too many talents or being very talented in too many different things (like being super smart, having amazing voice and dance skills), OC having many close idol friends (from different companies) with no explanation and OC having a sob story past with it not affecting his/her personality in any way.
Using logic while making OC is really important. Making OC realistic is even more important!
