He is finally done with it.

After twenty four weeks, one hundred and sixty-eight days, thousands of seconds of hard work and cold sweat – he finally manages to finish drawing a portrait of her. The portrait which took him much courage and determination, one which was definitely worth every wink of sleep that he had lost over the past few months.

He had only been able to draw from memory – from those times she walked past his small stall, stopping by the florist shop next to his and purchasing a stalk of tulip every single morning without fail.

If he was lucky, she would throw a glance over his way before walking away.

Those rare days he actually got fortunate, she offered him a smile.

The bright, radiant smile which is now beaming back at him from the newly finished portrait in front of him. He traces his finger lightly over the fine lines, smiling and holding back his tears simultaneously.

Because, as hard as he tried, as fast as his fingers moved – they weren’t fast enough to stop her. They weren’t fast enough to catch her when he had the chance to. They were numb, and completely frozen when she flew up into the air and dropped to the ground with a deafening thud right before his very eyes.

Perhaps, if he had been a tad faster, a little sooner, she would’ve heard his silent confession through his wordless painting.

As that, is the only thing, a mute man like him could offer.
