Donghae’s POV

I never thought I would end up doing this: helping the girl I love plan her wedding with another man. I sighed as I remembered it was me who encouraged her to accept him.

“Hae… are you paying attention to what I am saying?” she asked me making me come back to reality. I smiled to her. I really don’t know what she was talking about but I have to pretend I did hear her.

“Of course Sica” I said and she smiled back. That smile that could melt my heart. Jessica Jung, the girl I love, also happens to be my very best friend since I was in kindergarten and all I ever wanted was for her to be happy.

She always dreamed of having her own fairytale. Meeting a handsome prince, marrying him and living happily ever after.

:Flashback:

Donghae entered  Jessica’s room and sat on her bed waiting for his best friend that was on her bathroom, getting ready to go out. His eyes scanned the room carefully as he was bored and had nothing to do. He suddenly spotted something on her desk. Curiosity won over him and he stood to go to see what it was.

He opened and read “My fairytale” written on the front page. He smiled when he saw it. Of course a girl full of dreams like her would want to have her own fairytale. Actually, any girl would dream to have a fairytale ending.

“Hey Sica, what’s this on your desk?” he asked

“What?” she asked walking out of the bathroom. When she saw what he was holding in his hands, her eyes widened surprised.

“Nothing important!” she said embarrassed and snatched it from his hands. She hid it behind her back and he pouted.

“Why won’t you let me see it?” he asked and looked away blushed

“It’s something really childish” she said

“I promise I won’t make fun of you” he said using his puppy eyes. She looked at him and sighed defeated.

“Fine” she said and he smiled brightly “But DON’T LAUGH!”

“Of course” he said and she slowly handed the book to her. He opened and saw it was scrapbook. It was full of different pictures and it made him smile. He opened one special page and read what it said. She had cut a picture of a fairytale prince and had pasted it below what she wrote.

…I want to marry a prince and have a fairytale ending like the princesses of movies have…

That made him smile but somehow it made him sad because he realized he wasn’t in her fairytale. He would never be her prince.

 :End of flashback:

All that was about to become reality after she met her prince charming: Nichkhun Horvejkul. Nichkhun is the prince of Thailand, a real one. Sounds childish but it’s true.

They accidentally met him because my family was making business with a Thai company so me and my dad had to go on business trip to Thailand. Of course I asked Jessica to go with us and she happily agreed. She accidentally bumped into him in the hotel we were staying. At first she didn’t know who he was but then after they become getting closer, he told her who he was. She was shocked but he knew she wasn’t with him because he was a prince but because she liked him the way he was.

I just had to be there and be happy for them. When he proposed to her, I didn’t know what to do. I was heartbroken but I encouraged her to accept him. I only wanted her to be happy and for her dream to come true, that’s why I let her go and encouraged her to accept the prince.

Her fairytale ending has to be perfect and I’m going to make sure of that, even if it breaks my heart to see her with another man.

“Do you think Khun would like pink roses or white ones?” Jessica asked

“I don’t know why don’t you ask him?” I said pretending to be annoyed.  Sometimes I wish I could be her prince but of course, I am not…

“You are here to help me” she said and dragged me outside and I rolled my eyes

“Why don’t you ask Tiffany or Yuri for help?” I asked her “I know they would love to”

“Because you are my best friend” she said “And I’m starting to believe that you don’t want to help”

She pouted and I chuckled. She looked so cute when she acted childish that I couldn’t help but pinch her cheeks. I know she hates it when I do that but I love to .

“It hurts” she said and hit my arm

“Don’t be so violent my pretty Sica, of course I am here to help” I said and smiled to her. She suddenly hugged me tightly and I felt my heart skipping faster.

“Thanks bada” she said and I smiled.

*Knock*knock*

When we heard the knock on the door, we broke the hug.

“Are you there princess?” someone said and I recognized his voice. He came in with a huge smile on his face and Jessica went to hug him. I tried to smile and pretend that I was happy but I couldn’t bear to look.

“Did you miss me?” he asked her sweetly. She nodded and he kissed her lips gently

“Of course” she said

“Thanks for helping her Hae” Nichkhun said to me and I just smiled

“You know I’ll do anything for my best friend” I said

“And I really appreciate that” he said and patted my back. Then he started talking with Jessica about more details of their wedding and I felt like it wasn’t my place anymore.

“I think I should go” I told them a little bit uncomfortable

“Thanks a lot Hae” Jessica said and hugged me again. I couldn’t help but smile.

After I left her house, tears started running down my face. I can pretend to be happy in front of her but when I’m alone I cannot hold my tears.

The night before the wedding, I was in my house thinking about everything deeply. I sighed as I remembered that the next day she would be officially a married woman. I couldn’t handle the pain I was feeling. Maybe with time, it would slowly cease.

I was trying to sleep when I suddenly heard my phone ring. When I saw Sica’s name on the screen, I immediately answered.

“Pretty Sica?” I asked worried.  “What’s wrong?”

“Can you come over to my house bada?” she asked me and she didn’t sound as excited as I expected her to be one day before her wedding “I need someone to talk to”

“Sure” I said feeling even more worried “Is everything alright?”

“I’ll explain when you are here” she said and hung up. As soon as she hung up, I stood up, grabbed my coat and drove to Sica’s house.

When I arrived, I knocked on the door and her sister Krystal opened it with a smile. I smiled back as she signaled me to go to Jessica’s room where she was waiting for me.

As I entered her room, I found her lying on her bed staring at the ceiling and lost in her thoughts. I went to her and laid next to her on the bed as I stared at the ceiling as well. We were used to doing that.

“What’s so interesting up there?” I asked and she sighed

“Hae… I don’t know if marrying Nichkhun is a good idea” she suddenly said sighing and I looked at her in disbelief

“What? Why are you saying this?” I asked shocked “Did he do something to you?”

“Of course not” she said and I felt more relived but still I was feeling uneasy “Nichkhun is sweet and caring and a gentleman but… I’m not sure if I love him”

“Isn’t he the prince you always dreamed to marry?” I asked her confused and she giggled.

“What makes you think that Nichkhun is the prince of my fairytale?” she asked me and I looked are her clueless.

“The fact that he is a real prince?” I asked and she laughed. I am really confused now.

“Hae when I told you that I wanted to marry a prince I meant a guy I love. Someone that can be my prince even if he is not a real one” she said and I finally understood everything. I felt stupid for not knowing that from the beginning.

“Are you having second thoughts about your wedding?” I asked her and she didn’t reply

“I don’t know” she said with a sad voice “I’m confused”

“If you don’t love him, why did you accept his love?” I asked her and she looked at me with sad eyes

“Because you practically pushed me to accept him” she said and my heart ached. Am I the reason why she accepted him? Really?

“I only wanted you to have your fairytale ending” I said and she smiled to me

“Well I think it’s too late for having second thoughts” Jessica said and sighed again “See you tomorrow then Hae”

After she said I had no other choice but to leave. My heart hurt thinking that maybe I made a mistake by encouraging her to accept Nichkhun.

Finally the day of the wedding arrived and it pains me a lot to think that she is going to marry him in some hours and she doesn’t even love him. I had been thinking all night and I finally realized it was time to confess my feelings for her, even if it’s too late.

I went to look for her and I found her in her changing room. Tiffany and Yuri were helping her to do her make up and she looked absolutely gorgeous. I need some time to catch my breath before going inside to talk to her.

“Looks who is here” Yuri said

“Hae” she said happy “What are you doing here?

“I need to talk to you” I said with a serious tone

“I think we should leave them alone” Tiffany said and dragged Yuri outside leaving us alone

“So… what do you wanted to tell me?” she asked me and I took a deep breath before starting to talk

“That all this years I had been coward…” I said and she looked surprised “For not telling you how I really feel”

“H-how you feel about what?”

“About you” I said and she was startled “I love you and I always had. I’m sorry it’s too late”

“Y-you  a-are kidding right?” she stuttered. I could feel how shocked she was.

“I’m not joking” I said and looked directly to her eyes. Some tears started falling from her beautiful eyes and she looked down.

“Why are you telling me this just now?” she asked me and sounded hurt.

“Because I was too afraid of losing your friendship if you rejected me” I said and I couldn’t help the tears. “Besides… I only wanted you to have your fairytale ending as it said in your book”

“Donghae I made that scrapbook when I was 12!” she yelled as she couldn’t believe what I was saying “Don’t you think it’s a little bit silly to think that was something I still dreamed of?”

“I’m sorry for that Jessica” I said feeling a little bit stupid and sad “I know it was something childish but still it made me realize that I wasn’t in it”

“And who said you weren’t in it?!” she asked me still crying “I loved you Hae, you know? But you gave up on me without even fighting. When you pushed me to accept Nichkhun’s love… do you know how hurt I was thinking you didn’t love me back?”

I was shocked to hear her words and that hurt me even more.

“I’m so sorry” I said again and she wiped the tears from her eyes. She glared at me and I could see the pain in her eyes. I’m so sorry I didn’t fight for her.

“It’s too late Hae” she said and she was about to walk out when we heard the door opening.

“I think it is not” we were both shocked when we saw Nichkhun entering. He heard all our conversation and he was now crying too.

“Nichkhun… I…” I tried to explain but he signaled me to stop. He had a serious expression and looked really heartbroken.

“I heard enough” he said and looked at Jessica with loving eyes. “I love you and I only want you to be happy”

He approached to where she was standing and kissed her hand. She hugged him tightly.

“I’m so sorry Nichkhun” she said and he smiled

“No, I am sorry I didn’t even notice your real feelings” he said cupping her face and looking at her lovingly “I hope you find your happiness”

“I wish you happiness too” he told me and patted my back. I smiled to him and nodded. What he did was something not everyone would do. Nichkhun is indeed a good man and he only wanted Sica’s happiness.

 After he left, we both felt heartbroken. There was an awkward silence on neither of us knew what to say.

I looked at her as if waiting for an answer. She glared at me madly.

“What do you expect me to do now?” she asked me still mad “To run to your arms and tell you I love you?”

“I said I’m sorry for the nth time” I said and then I smiled to her “And yeah I was really expecting you to do that”

“Pabo” she said and hit my arm. I laughed and then I knelt down and took her hand.

“Sica, can I be the prince of your fairytale?” I asked her nervously and she suddenly smiled

“You have always been him” she said and my smile brightened. I stood up and hugged her tightly before planting a sweet kiss in her lips. All this time thinking she needed a prince and I finally realized she only needed me to confess my feelings.
