Chapter 3

Drop It On Me

“Please please please please can we go??”

“Only if I have enough money...”

“Please, hyung! I need to get away from here for a day!” Seungri pounced on Jiyong and clasped their hands together. “And this water park has a new ride open too, everyone's riding it!”

“Ugh.. Fine, Seungri! Get off of me already.” Jiyong couldn't help but smile when the younger boy jumped up with a cry of joy.

“And hyung, can you ask Youngbae to come with us too? The more the merrier!”

“Yeah yeah, I'll ask.”

--

When Jiyong entered Youngbae’s classroom during his lunch break, a few students eagerly greeted him. He reckoned one of the reasons why people wanted to get close to him was because they all thought he was going to be famous one day- and well, Jiyong couldn’t blame them for thinking so.

“Where’s Youngbae?” He asked a nearby student.

“Dong Youngbae? He didn’t come to school today.” Jiyong frowned at the response and wondered what the cause was.

Later that day, Youngbae hadn’t showed up to work either. Apparently he was sick, and his absence made work much more boring. Jiyong decided he’d just text him about Seungri’s plans or else the excited guy would bother him about it later.

Soon after, Jiyong got a reply: ‘yeah i’ll go if i feel better!! but why the sudden decision?’

‘that’s great! feel better soon, alright? Seungri's having girlfriend problems or something, he wanted to have some fun with the guys for a day’ Jiyong quickly replied before he was caught texting on the job. He decided to try talking a bit more to the other workers to relieve his boredom. They weren’t bad company, but the student felt glad when his shift was over.

Jiyong went over to the cafe to get a drink before leaving the mall, and as he walked in he noticed that it was near empty like before. “Welcome,” Daesung’s strong voice greeted. “Glad to see you here again!”

Jiyong grinned and made his order. While waiting, he noticed an ad placed on the counter for a water park. “Have you ever been here?” Jiyong asked.

Daesung looked over to see what he was talking about and shook his head. “I want to go there this weekend actually!”

“Oh, really? Me too! Well, my friend is kind of forcing me to go with him,” Jiyong said. A rustle in the back caught his attention and he saw Seunghyun rising from a couple of chairs placed next to each other, where he’d apparently been laying down on. His hair was messed up, but nevertheless it looked good.

“Hyung, let’s go to the water park this weekend please?” Daesung immediately started to plead him.

“Why do you want to go all of a sudden?” Seunghyun grumbled, rubbing his eyes.

“Oh come on, you love water parks! Please please, go with me!”

Jiyong watched the two in amusement. The bright man reminded him of Seungri, and he couldn’t help but smile.

“I like amusement parks, not water parks. And besides, I don't want to go with just you- that's like a date or something. Hell no.”

Daesung pouted, then suddenly looked at Jiyong with bright eyes. “I know we barely know each other, but you know Seunghyun right? How about you and your friends come with us?”

Jiyong was startled at the sudden question. Seunghyun made a disapproving noise but before he could say they didn’t really know each other at all, Jiyong quickly nodded without thinking.

“L-Let’s do it!” Jiyong said excitedly. “I mean- well- only if you can drive us.” The boy shrugged, thinking it was a good enough excuse for his quick reply, since he didn’t really know why he agreed. “We’re all poor high school students, you know.”

Daesung grinned. “No problem! Seunghyun has a pretty nice and roomy car.”

Jiyong glanced at Seunghyun a little guiltily when he saw the slightly confused look on the older man, but when he left with his drink, he happily texted his two friends the good news. It might have seemed strange to be suddenly going on a trip with two men he barely knew- not to mention Seungri and Youngbae probably didn’t know them at all- but Jiyong didn’t feel that it was out of place. He just simply felt comfortable in the presence of those two, and thought they’d all make a group of good friends.

And after all, Kwon Jiyong’s instinct was always precise.

--

“There are really no girls going with you?” Jiyong's sister raised her eyebrows in surprise when Jiyong told her of his plans. “Isn't that a bit boring?”

The high school student shrugged, wiping his wet hair as he'd just gotten out of the shower. “It'll be fun! Don't you go out with your female friends all the time?” He thought about how Seunghyun would be going with them anyway, and he felt excited with the new company. “Anyway, the girls will be coming to us.”

The older girl smacked Jiyong's head lightly. “Why do you act so stuck-up all the time..”

“I'm just saying the truth!” Jiyong stuck his tongue out and quickly dodged another hand from his sister, then ran into his room. He continued drying his hair and sat down to finish some homework before going to sleep when he noticed his phone vibrating on his bed. He went to pick it up but didn't recognize the number, and figured it might have been Daesung calling since he'd given his number to the man before leaving the shop (and forgot to add in Daesung's number himself).

“Hey..” A deep voice surprised Jiyong when the line connected. “It's Seunghyun.”

“Oh! How'd you get-”

“Daesung gave your number to me; for some reason he didn't feel like calling you himself, so...”

Jiyong giggled when he could perfectly imagine Seunghyun rolling his eyes. “Yeah, so what's up?” He laid down on his bed with the towel resting under his red mop of hair and smiled, all of a sudden feeling cheerful.

“Ah, I wanted to know if it's okay that my friend wanted to come.. Um, I accidentally slipped it out, sorry.”

“It's not really up to me! Well.. Boy or Girl?”

“A girl,” Seunghyun replied, sounding hesitant. Jiyong's smile was slowly wiped off, and he wondered if it was okay with Seungri.

“Hmm, well, my friend really didn't want any girls to come..” Jiyong started nervously. “But I mean, it's just for the car ride, right? We don't really have to stick together in the actual park or something.” He immediately regretted saying that, since now it sounded like he was just using the two older men for free transportation.

However, Seunghyun chuckled easily, calming Jiyong down. “Hey, just stick with us okay? Unless you find us boring hyungs. I'll just tell her it's a no- I didn't really want her to come anyway.”

“Oh, it's really okay then..?” Jiyong's lips curled back upwards and he brought his legs up to his chest, rolling over on his side. It made him happy that he wasn't unwanted after he'd made his rash decision.

“Mm.. So what's up? Doing homework?” The older man sounded only mildly interested, as if he was occupied with something else, but Jiyong felt glad that he hadn't wanted to hang up right after they'd cleared things up.

“I was going to..” Jiyong guiltily glanced towards his pile of books on the table, but he didn't want to get up. He felt comfortable in his position.

“Yeah, sure you were.”

“Hey, I'm actually a good student! Don't underestimate me.” Jiyong grinned when he heard Daesung's excited yell in the background. “What are you doing?”

“Video games- well, Daesung is. I'm just talking to you, really,” he murmured in reply, then shouted something back to Daesung about quieting down. Jiyong suddenly wished he was right beside Seunghyun and could talk to him directly, but the desire was so fleeting that Jiyong didn't give it another thought when his sister knocked on his door and peeked in with a bowl of fruits. She suspiciously looked at Jiyong while going nearer to him to place the bowl on the table, then swiftly grabbed the phone out of her brother's hand.

“What are you-!”

“Hmm, what kind of girl are you~?” Jiyong's sister said into the phone, smirking. Jiyong raised an eyebrow when her eyes widened after she received a reply. “O-Oh, I'm sorry! I thought you were my little brother's girlfriend because he was lying on the bed grinning and stuff.. I'm really sorry!” She apologized again and quickly gave the phone back to the owner.

Jiyong rolled his eyes, but he felt embarrassed at what his sister just told Seunghyun. He quickly kicked her out of his room before putting the phone up to his ear. “S-Seunghyun?”

“Yes darling?” Seunghyun answered, causing Jiyong to laugh.

“Just forget this, please. I have to do my work now, so I'm going to hang up now!” It was an excuse to escape from his embarrassment if anything, but thankfully Seunghyun agreed and they said their farewells. Jiyong marked the date of their trip in his phone before putting it away and starting on his work.
