Foreword
Thousands of indefinite images flashed through his mind. He jerked into consciousness, finding himself slumped on the cold cement floor. As though alive and welcoming his awakening, shadows have crept up the brick walls of this unfamiliar place and swallowed the whole room in darkness. He tried to move but he felt his wrists being weighed down and his legs failed him; he was bounded by heavy metal chains. He frantically glanced around, trying to get a grasp of everything. All that surrounded him was the empty stillness of the silence that filled the room. He pulled on the chains in effort of trying to escape his predicament only to unpleasantly disturb the quiet of the night. He continued to tug on the chain, each time with the chain rattling against the hard cold floor sounding about the place. He grunted furiously out of frustration and anger; his heavy breathing followed as he remained motionless after realizing it was no use. He closed his eyes, trying to steady his breathing rate. A sudden light tap upon the floor ringed against the walls, stirring him to alertness; he felt his pulse rate increase, his muscles tensed up, and his pupils dilated.
