It’s been two weeks since I last visit Hyuna. I've contacted her often though. She said she's been doing well coping with work and life at the same time. She sounds cheerful on the phone but I always feel like seeing her in person to convince myself. Clients kept on coming that I didn't have the time to see her. 

This morning I'm determined to visit her. I dialled her phone number to tell her that I'm coming over. After about 5 rings, she answered the call. "Hello Hyuna?"

"Uncle Junhyung, omma is lying on the floor and she's not waking up!" Jae Hee's small voice can be heard. My eyes widened and my heartrate has never been faster.

"Jae Hee I'm coming over now okay? You don't go anywhere arasso?" I said hurriedly, taking my keys and helmet.

"Arasso uncle. Uncle come quickly!" Jae Hee sounded scared. I really need to get there as soon as possible. I rushed to my bike and pressed on the gas. After about a few minutes, although her house was far from my studio, I reached her place.

I knocked on the door, calling Jae Hee's name several times. The door opened soon after revealing a scared looking Jae Hee. "Where's omma?" I asked, bending down a little. 

"Omma is in her room uncle," he said pointing to the second storey of the house. I rushed inside and closed the door behind me. I ran upstairs and I saw that her bedroom door is open. I stepped inside, seeing Hyuna lying motionless on the floor. I kneeled down next to her and placed her head on my lap, tapping her cheeks lightly. 

"Hyuna.. Hyuna... Hyuna please wake up. Hyuna..." I cooed her name softly. Surprisingly tears were already welling up in my eyes and I had to fight back the tears from falling. I was so scared she might leave me. Don't leave me Hyuna. Please wake up...

I fished out my phone and called for ambulance. As I was waiting for them, Jae Hee stood by my side. "Uncle Junhyung, is omma going to leave me like appa?" he sobbed. I turned to him and wiped his tears, caressed his cheeks softly. "No Jae Hee. Omma won't leave you. I promise you that she won't leave you."

The ambulance came and Jae Hee and I were allowed to come along. Seeing her lying on the stretcher in the ambulance van with her pale face really stabbed me in the heart. Is it true that all along she has not been doing well? Or is she too tired dealing with work and taking care of Jae Hee at the same time?

We soon reached the hospital and she was rushed to the E.R. Jae Hee sat on my lap waiting for the doctor. Jae Hee was really a quiet boy when he’s crying. He just sat with me, waiting for his mother. He didn’t not bawl out or throw tantrums, wanting Hyuna. I tried calling Jiyeon or Hyemi to tell them about Hyuna and hopefully at least one of them could take care of Jae Hee for the moment. Only Jiyeon answered my call. I guess Hyemi is working.

While we were waiting, I never stopped praying for Hyuna, hoping the doctor will not give another bad news for Jae Hee. He’s too young to endure all this. I lost my father when I was 18 and I still cried like a 2 year old. I saw Jiyeon rushing into the hospital, looking for me. Before I could call out her name she already saw me.

“What happened Jun?” she asked worriedly, taking a seat beside me.

“All I know is that she fainted. I called her and Jae Hee answered telling me that Hyuna fainted,” I said. She sighed and nodded. From the way she dressed, I can tell she had rushed herself here from work.

The doctor came out of the E.R and I passed Jae Hee to Jiyeon. I walked towards the doctor who happened to be a female.

“How is she doctor?” I asked carefully.

“She’s fine, just a little exhausted. You need to take care of your wife. Make sure she takes vitamins and have enough rest. I mean, a pregnant woman needs all the care she can get right?” She smiled.

W-wh-what? Hyuna’s pregnant?

My jaw dropped open slightly. My eyes blinked, trying to register what she just said. “Pregnant?”

“You didn’t know? Well I guess I should congratulate you then. Your wife is pregnant. I guess I don’t have to tell you what to do seeing that it’s not your first time right?” She chuckled and glanced over at Jae Hee. I’m still trying to register everything that I didn’t get to correct her that Hyuna is not my wife. It sounds good to my ears anyway.

“Can I see her now doctor?” I asked.

“Yes sure,” she said and walked away.

I went into the room and Hyuna was sleeping. I sat beside her bed and rested my elbows on the bed. I just stared at her sleeping face and I felt tears falling on my cheeks. I breathe in deeply trying to absorb the whole situation. Why didn’t you tell me Hyuna? How could I leave you living by yourself, working and take care of Jae Hee single-handedly if I knew you were pregnant?

Suddenly Hyuna’s eyes fluttered open and she turned to face me. I wiped my tears with the back of my hand quickly and forced out a smile.

“Junhyung?” She was confused to see me. “What happened?”

I chuckled slightly. “I’m the one who’s supposed to be asking you that. You fainted.”

It was like as if she suddenly woke up from a bad dream, she tried to get up instantly.

“Whoa whoa.. you need to rest.” I stopped her, pushing her gently back down to lie on the bed.

“Jae Hee? Where’s Jae Hee?” she asked.

“He’s outside with Jiyeon. I came to your house when he told me that you couldn’t wake up.”

She looked more relaxed now that she knows Jae Hee is okay. “I’m so sorry to trouble you Junhyung.”

“It’s no trouble at all. I was planning to come over. That’s why I called.” I smiled. She smiled and stayed silent.

“Hyuna..” She turned to me and raised her eyebrows slightly.

“Why didn’t you tell me?” I asked softly as I leaned nearer to her. At first she looked clueless but then she realised what I was talking about since she’s in a hospital. Obviously the doctor would have told me.

She pursed her lips and looked down.

“I wouldn’t have let you live by yourself doing all those work if I knew,” I said gently.

She looked at me. “I know you wouldn’t. That’s why I didn’t tell anyone. I can take care of myself Junhyung.”

“Is this what you call taking care of yourself? Hyuna, you’re tired and need a lot of rest. What if I didn’t happen to call you just now? What can Jae Hee do when you fainted? Call the ambulance? He’s only four! If he went out to look for help, what if he gets lost?” I couldn’t help but feel a little bit agitated. I care too much for her to just ignore the consequences that might happen. I care too much to just let her be.

She seemed taken aback by what I said. “Junhyung.. I…” she was lost for words. I sighed and my lips.

After a while of looking down on the bed and a long silence, I faced her. “Move in with me,” I said.
