Two is Better Than One

Misery Loves Company

Blaming the fact that he wasn’t an SM artist, Yonghwa found some difficulty in trying to look after Sooyoung after abandoning Seohyun and Kyuhyun in the hallway. He was more than a hundred percent sure that the tall brunette was in tears and was probably hiding somewhere, wanting to be on her own. And if there was one thing he came to learn about the shikshin since they started becoming friends was that she often found refuge in an open space. Thus started his search for balconies and the like. True enough, he found her on the floor, sobbing her heart out in the balcony of an empty office room.

He sighed, silently and slowly approaching his friend before he sat down beside her. “Soo…”

Without any warning, she threw herself in his arms and her sobs became louder and more profound. Yonghwa could only sigh, not knowing what to do to comfort the woman in his arms. He knew that she was hurt with how Seohyun handled the whole miscommunication issue and probably with how it seemed like Kyuhyun sided with the other maknae as well. He began to gently and comfortingly rub her back, hoping his small gesture could somehow ease her pain… and by making her feel better, ease his pain as well.

“It’s so unfair…” Sooyoung mumbled when her cries subsided a few minutes later.

“Life was never fair to begin with.” He pointed out.

The brunette pulled back from his grasp; her cheeks stained with tears and her eyes red with all her crying. She stared at the wet area of his shirt and frowned. “Aish… Sorry for the mess I created on your shirt.”

Yonghwa rolled his eyes good naturedly. “Do I look like I mind?”

“But still…”

“Choi Sooyoung.” The CN Blue lead singer interrupted her before she could continue. “Do you feel any better now?”

She arched an incredulous eyebrow. “I should be asking you that question too, Jung Yonghwa.”

The dark haired man shrugged, trying to look like the situation didn’t bother him. “Maybe there’s another girl meant for me, you know?”

“But you love Seobaby.” Sooyoung made a face at him. “What if she’s the girl meant for you?”

“What if Kyuhyun isn’t the guy for you?”

Sooyoung fell silent for a moment. “Life really isn’t unfair.”

“At least you have a very sweet, charming and good looking friend like me, right?” He wiggled his eyebrows playfully.

She laughed out loud, reaching out to pinch his cheeks. “You’re so full of yourself.”

“It’s true!”

Kyuhyun came to a stop at the doorway leading to the balcony as he watched the two joke around without noticing his presence. After making sure that Seohyun was going to be fine on her own, he ran after Yonghwa and Sooyoung. He wanted and needed to set the record straight… and he wanted to hear the truth from her as well. The maknae didn’t want to believe his eyes when he saw the pictures in Seohyun’s phone but as he watched them, a part of him believed the possibility. But if there was one thing about himself that he was very proud of, it was the fact that he’s a fighter… and there was no way he was going to let things go out of hand.

“Soo.”

Yonghwa and Sooyoung’s laughter stopped as they turned their heads and saw Kyuhyun standing there. Instinctively, her hand reached for his and Yonghwa, in turn, squeezed her hand in reassurance. Kyuhyun frowned at the scene before him but chose not to say anything else. Yonghwa stood up, gently pulling Sooyoung with him, before he shielded her with his body.

Kyuhyun kept his words curt and simple. “I need to talk to Soo.”

“She doesn’t need any more of the accusations you and Seo are throwing at her.” Yonghwa shook his head adamantly. He didn’t trust Cho Kyuhyun especially after the other man failed to even hear Sooyoung’s side of the whole issue.

His eyes narrowed just slightly. “Jung Yonghwa, I need to speak to her.”

Yonghwa didn’t know what to say or do. There was something about the way Kyuhyun spoke that struck him… Was he almost pleading? Yet, there was still some sort of authority in his voice. “No, I can’t do that.”

“Seohyun wants to talk to you too.”

Sooyoung tugged at the hem of Yonghwa’s shirt, knowing that her two friends needed to talk as well. “Go… Seobaby needs you.”

He turned his head; a look of uncertainty on his face. “Are you sure you’ll be fine with Kyuhyun?”

She nodded slowly. “I need to deal with oppa one way or another anyways.”

Much to Kyuhyun’s irritation and distain, Yonghwa gave Sooyoung one quick but tight hug and a kiss on the temple of her head before leaving the area to look for Seohyun. Once they were alone, Kyuhyun’s intense gaze locked with Sooyoung’s wary ones and she couldn’t help but look away. It was apparent that she was dead set on avoiding him and he knew that it was his fault.

“Where do you think you’re going, Soo?” He asked when she made a move to leave.

Sooyoung folded her arms over her chest protectively. “The girls are probably looking for me already.”

“You’re staying here until we settle this, Choi.” The maknae instructed, moving closer to her; his tone leaving no room for arguments.

“What is there to settle, oppa?” Her sudden outburst caught him by surprise. She glared at him as tears formed in her eyes once more. “Believe whatever you want to believe! I don’t care! You’re too narrow-minded to even try to listen to me a while ago.”

He frowned. “It’s okay for you that I’ll believe that you like Yonghwa just as Seohyun does?”

“What does the things you believe in have to do with me?” Sooyoung challenged with a raised eyebrow.

“Fine then! So if that's how things will go, I’ll just continue you to believe that you love me.”

Her eyes went wide. “Yah! What the hell are you talking about, Cho?”

Kyuhyun closed the remaining distance between them, wrapping his arms tightly around her petite waist. Sooyoung couldn’t help but gulp at their closeness, wanting to look at anything else but him. Her hands found their way to his chest, wanting to push him away from her but she somehow couldn't find the strength and the will to. He couldn’t help but laugh at her antics before pressing his forehead against hers.

Smirking at the reddened face of the girl in his arms, he spoke softly once more. “Because I love you too.”

And he kissed her.

She used to think that she was in a ‘one way relationship’… but then again two is always better than one.
