Chapter 3
Second Chance
Young Saeng tossed around in bed, his mind still in a state of confusion after the conversation
he had with Ji Min earlier on…
Flashback
"I don't have any family. Even if there's someone… I don't know… I can't remember much about my past..."
"Mwoh?"
"I was involved in an accident on my way home after a performance a few years back.
They said my mum died instantly in the crash, I don't know if I had a father.
I can't remember anything else, except that I was in coma for several months and I spent
another half a year in the hospital trying to stand on my feet again and get on with life…"
"What about the people around you? Don't you remember anyone?"
"I wish I could but... I don't know…"
End of Flashback
He knew deep within he wasn't in the position to be upset over the fact that she had forgotten him,
he was the one who sent her away after all. Because there was nothing he could do about the girl
whom his parents see as a prospective daughter-in-law, his fiancee Eun Jung.
Though he had made it clear that he wanted to end things for good, it wouldn't be long before Eun Jung
comes running back to him again after their last fight which the parents see as a mere lovers' quarrel.
Now that Ji Min's back again, he couldn't help but worry about what would be in store for him.
One thing he couldn't deny for sure after her sudden appearance, is that he never really forgot her...
Young Saeng's POV
You must have hated me back then. Perhaps it'll be better this way...
But… what am I supposed to do now?
---
"Hyung, how's Ji Min? Do you want to meet us for dinner, together with her?" Kyu Jong asked
Young Saeng over the phone after a day at work.
He was curious over how his pal was getting along with the girl whom he obviously adored secretly
and wanted to see for himself their progress.
"That girl…"
Flashback
"What do I do now…"
"Ji Min ah, is there any thing wrong?"
"Omo! A-annyeong Young Saeng-ssi… I think this shirt was supposed to be white in color…"
"You dumped everything into the washing machine without separating the colored ones?"
"D-de… I didn't know... I'm so sorry about it! I'll get you a new shirt…"
"It's alright..."
End of Flashback
"Did anything happen?"
"She… nothing. She's fine" Young Saeng shook his head as he recalled the morning's
happening while replying Kyu Jong.
Young Saeng's POV
I hope she doesn't attempt something else and that my house is still intact…
though I know she meant well by attempting to help with the chores...
"Great. I'll see you at our usual place"
"I don't think so... it'll be inconvenient for her to come, she might get recognized.
I'm going home to check on her"
"Arasso… I'll see you another day then"
Kyu Jong's POV
Is this a good sign that they're getting along?
---
Choking on the stench of burnt food which greeted him the moment he opened the door of his
apartment, Young Saeng rushed into the kitchen and found Ji Min frantically trying to remove
the burnt remains on the pan.
"Mianhae… I was hungry so I tried to cook something…"
"You mean you haven't eaten anything at all for the whole day?"
Young Saeng's POV
After years of living alone… what have you been eating?
Why didn't you tell me you can't cook when I told you to help yourself to the kitchen…
"Look at your hands… did your pour the oil in right after washing the pan?
How can a girl not even know such basics? Thank goodness you didn't burn the house down…"
Young Saeng nagged as he carefully applied some cream onto Ji Min's hands after he noticed
the burn marks.
Ji Min's POV
He must be upset at the mess I made, he has every right to…
I've always had everything prepared by the company and Manager oppa...
"Mianhae..."
"Kwenchana, don't worry about it"
Young Saeng's POV
The dejected look on her face when she apologized… why did I say that?
I should have known better than to say something like this…
"Why don't you wait outside while I prepare dinner?"
"Can we eat out today?"
"Wae? You don't like my cooking?"
"Aniyo… it's just… it's ok. I'll wait outside"
Ji Min's POV
It's getting kind of boring to be cooped up here all day.
I've watched most of the movies available, read all the papers and surfed the internet…
But I really shouldn't be troubling him any more…
Ji Min stood by the balcony and gazed into the night sky while she waited for dinner.
After reading all the news about the cancellation of several shows and the company's sudden
call for a break due to "failing health", it suddenly occurred to her that she had created more
inconvenience to the people around her than she had ever thought of by running away.
"I'm kind of tired, shall we have dinner out tonight?"
"Mwoh?"
She turned to face Young Saeng, who smiled warmly and handed her a hoodie and mask.
"I know of a Japanese restaurant you'll like"
"Jinjja?! How do you know I like Japanese food?"
Young Saeng's POV
What did I just do? I'm not supposed to know much about her…
"The food's pretty good so I thought you'd like it"
"Komawo…"
