Chapter 6

You're not alone

The hospital was peaceful enough, and there was no signs of danger. Another day had went by without anything suspicious going on, but I knew I couldn't relax at all. I was still immobile for the most part, I could only manage to sit up to be fed by Sulli. I told her that I could just be fed by an IV, but she personally insisted on feeding me each meal herself. She even took a week off of work just to be able to care take of me like this. It was very endearing, but Jessica kept teasing us about it. I was sleeping a lot more than usual which I found strange. Sulli insisted it was a normal part of recovery, however it made me feel oddly anxious. I was scared that I wouldn't wake up, my dreams had been plagued by graphic nightmares. They each felt realer than the last before them. I didn't tell anyone, they shouldn't have to worry any more than they already are.

My room was empty now, it was already night again. I kept the lights on, and admired the beauty of the city at night outside my window. It was hard to relax, knowing that tomorrow there would be only three more days left of this. Not being able to move much put me at a huge disadvantage already. I sighed, and thought of how I could speed up my recovery if possible. I forced myself to sit up, and shifted my body over towards the edge of the bed. I grabbed on to the edge of the night stand, and forced myself to stand up. I let out a painful squeal, and immediately got back into the bed. Everything in my body began to ache all over, stupid idea.

A nurse rushed into check on me, and questioned what had happened. I told her, and she scolded me of course. I couldn't help but complain to her about the pain, so she hooked me up to an IV with powerful pain medication. The dose was so strong, that I fell asleep minutes after it was administered. A nightmare did not come to me that night. It was a long sleep without any dreams at all. Shortly before I awoke I heard voices talking. They didn't sound all too happy. I figured that the nurse had spilled the beans to Jessica, and Sulli. I really didn't want to wake up to another lecture. I hesitatingly awoke to an empty room.

Where did they go? Did they get that mad? Everything in my body was hurting again to the point I was sweating from the pain. It was even difficult to reach my hand outward to press the help button on the wall next to my bed. A surge of hospital staff rushed into to attend to me, and I looked over to see a crowd of random people gathering around the small window on the door. I didn't find it all too unusual until I felt a familiar pair of eyes staring me down. I searched the crowd, and I saw Amber. She was giving me that same stare she did that night whenever I passed out. Why was she here?

I could feel my body start to shake violently, and the staff had to hold me down to get another IV going. My eyes wouldn't tear themselves off of Amber's gaze, and she didn't dare look away either. Another girl appeared by her side, and smirked watching how helpless I was. She looked strangely familiar. Why were they so amused at my pain? Were they the ones responsible for all of this!? The new strange girl mouthed something to me. I was about to make it out, but then I fell into a deep painless sleep.

My eyes darted open sometime later, and Sulli was holding my hand. She looked so worried, even though she had fallen asleep. I looked at the clock, 7:00pm. I assumed it was still the same day. I wanted to tell her I was ok, but I didn't want to wake her. She was the type to stay up all night by my bed side, and she probably had. It was my fault for being so stupid. Still, did Amber come to see me or was I imagining it? What did that girl say to me again? Why does nothing ever make sense anymore?

That girl...she's.. I know her. We're friends? No, we were. I competed against her last year in a big ice skating competition. She was so good. I thought she had surely beaten me, but I won instead. I didn't think she cared enough to come visit me. That doesn't make sense. How would she even know I was in the hospital? She and I met in California. Argh. I'll think about it later.

“Soojung!” I turned to see that Sulli had awoken, and looked quite relieved to see me awake.

“Sorry, I know I made you worry.”

“Let's not talk about that right now. Let's do something fun instead.”

“How can we when I can't even move?”

“I'll get you a wheelchair, and we can go explore around the hospital. I want you to eat in the cafeteria with me. Please!” She pouted at me cutely, and I just couldn't say no.

“Alright. Go retrieve one, and we can do whatever you want.” She gave me a very cute eye smile, and dashed out of the room at full speed. Where the heck did she get all that energy from? She's just like a little kid sometimes. Still, my mind couldn't help but wonder to that odd scene earlier. What was her name again?

“I got one!” Sulli ran in the room pushing in a wheelchair, and wheeled it over to my bed side. I sat myself up, and she scooped me into her arm's. She placed me in the chair gently, and placed a blanket over my legs.

“Let's go!” She said, and slowly pushed the wheel chair out of the room. It was nice to see something else besides those same four walls every day. We took the elevator down to the first floor, and roamed around. She took me into the cafeteria, and wheeled me up to a table.

“What do you want to eat?”

“What do they have? I want some meat...or mangoes.”

“They have a lot so I'll bring you a little of everything!” She took off towards the line, and I looked around the large cafeteria. It had a few patients in it, but it was mostly hospital staff on their lunch break. I yawned, and closed my eyes briefly. I was still so weak, and tired. It made me feel like I was a burden on my sister, and girlfriend. I felt a hand on my shoulder, and assumed that Sulli had returned with the food. I opened my eyes to see the girl who was with Amber before. She smiled at me, and sat down across from me.

“It's been a while hasn't it Krystal?” It's been so long since someone has addressed me by my American name.

“Yeah..”

“You remember me don't you?”

“I do. I just can't seem to remember your name.”

“Park Sunyoung. I went by Luna in the states.”

“Luna! It's been so long.”

“It has. Are you still skating? I figured you would be training at the Olympic level by now.”

“I haven't in awhile. I'm really busy with my new job these days. Ice skating was just a fun hobby for me. I never considered doing it as a profession.” Her expression turned sour upon hearing my statement. She got up from her seat, and glared at me. I wasn't quite sure why. She was usually so friendly, and warm.

“I'm disappointed. Someone as talented as you shouldn't let your ability go to waste. You need to be more ambitious.”

“It's not that I'm not ambitious. It's just not something I want. I want to go on and do other things in my life instead of scheduling everything around a sport. You understand don't you?”

“I suppose so.”

“Why did you come to see me? How did you know I was here?”

“I'm here to visit my grandmother. I happened to pass by your room, and see you. It's just a coincidence.”

“Then..how do you know Amber?”

“Her late boyfriend was my brother.”

“Oh...I'm so sorry.”

“Well, I'm going back now. Perhaps we'll meet again.”

“Yeah. Nice seeing you Luna.” She bowed, and walked out of the cafeteria. I looked over towards the long line still seeing Sulli waiting to get served. My stomach growled, and I was growing very impatient. I let out a sigh, and wondered why Amber had come. Was she legitimately concerned or was it a coincidence also? That still doesn't explain why Luna looked so happy to see me in pain either, or maybe it wasn't like that. Too many questions again. Well, whatever. I just decided to rest my eyes again, and wait for Sulli to return, which led to me to falling asleep.

“Soojungie! Wake up! I'm back.” I opened my eyes to see a large tray of various foods in front of me, and my mouth instantaneously watered. I reached for the chop sticks in front of me, but Sulli quickly snatched them into her own hands. She held up a mango slice to my mouth, and I graciously ate it happily. She continued this until all of the food was gone, she was so good to me.

“Thank you. You're so sweet to me.”

“It's my job. I'll be back soon. I'm going to get something.” She left, and I was alone again. I wish she would of taken me with her. I sat there quietly, and watched others around me interact with one another. The people looked so happy, and care free. I wish I could be like them. The biggest question I wondered now was, was I going to live long enough to be able to be care free? All that I've been feeling lately is stress, and worry. I just want it all to end,so I can go back to living normally. Being able to walk again would help the cause of course. I was so caught up in my random musings that I was caught off guard when Sulli tapped my shoulder.

“For you!” She pulled a bouquet of red roses out from behind her back, and placed them in my arms. I was so happy to receive something so simple yet so beautiful, especially at a time like this. My eyes welled up with tears of happiness. She brushed them away with a handkerchief before they could fall.

“Thank you so much. This means a lot to me Sulli.” Before she could respond, I pulled her shirt collar downwards, and brushed my lips gently against hers. I was about to pull away, but she pulled me into a deeper more passionate kiss. My cheeks instantly flushed a shade of red, and I pulled away hastily. I did so because everyone was staring at our intimate moment, and it was quite embarrassing. Sulli gave me another quick peck, and wheeled me out of the cafeteria.

“You're really a good kisser.” I admitted shyly, and saw a confident smirk appear on her face.

“You are too.” I looked down embarrassed, and we went back to my room. She helped me get back into bed, and pointed to the time. It was already 9 pm. The visitor hours were about to end.

“I'll be back tomorrow. So look forward to it. Alright?”

“Of course. You're the best part of my day anyways.” Her smile grew greatly, and she kissed me again. She switched the light off, and headed out. I guess that was a sure sign that she wanted me to go back to bed. It was probably for the best that I catch up on my rest, and try to recover. I closed my eyes, and fell asleep shortly after due to exhaustion.

I woke up randomly in the middle of the night, just to get myself out of the creepy dream that I was having. I sat up in my bed, and checked the clock besides me. It was 3:34 AM. I yawned, still completely worn out. I laid back down to get some rest, but noticed the lights in the hallway were out. It was unusual because they never turn those lights out at any time. I guess maybe there was a brief power outage,or something. I closed my eyes, and tried to get back to sleep since I wasn't too concerned.

I heard my door open, and someone walk in. I assumed it was a nurse that was going to inform me on what had happened. I was so very wrong. They walked towards the window, and opened the blinds letting the moon light creep in. The figure stepped into the light, and I noticed right away that it was Luna. I was very confused at that pointed. She walked over to my bedside, and placed something cold near my throat. It was a knife.

“What the hell are you doing!?”

“I got you now Krystal Jung.”

Chapter 8: This is one of the coolest fanfics I have ever read! The idea is so much different and so much more surreal than other stories, and JungLi was worked in beautifully. One of my all-time favorites (and I'm hard to please hahah)!
