Just Be Friends
Description
"Let's just be friends."
She hears herself say it and she feels quite cold after those words left . She had loved him so long. They were friends but they were more than that. She was never the person to leave. She was more of the type who gets left behind. The one who begs the other to stay. The dramatic girl who would stand on the rain and say, "Love me."
But here in that moment, she had shed the role of the ever enduring martyr of love. She looks at him, chin raised up. Defiant, bold while she feels her inside break. She had loved him for so long. She was trying her hardest to find an off switch on her heart. She doesn't want to love him anymore but she does.
He blinks at her, not knowing how to respond. He had loved her for the longest time. Friends had never sounded as offensive as it did at that moment. He had always been the person of anger but he feels so extinguished as she stared at him with her determined eyes. He breaks a little and he was afraid to open his mouth. Afraid of the things that he would say. So he just gives her a nod and he walks away.
Friends.
There wasn't a word farther from the truth.
