[HEECHUL'S POV]

“You should try to get some sleep.” Mom said as peeked through my door, checking my situation.

“I will.” I responded and smiled at her.

“Promise?”

“I promise.” I said and she finally left me alone once she made sure I would really do what she asked me to do.

I lay down on my bed and just staring up at the ceiling, a lot of things running through my mind. I should be out, studying at school but no, I'm at home and away from people. 

I have a rare disease and it's called Xeroderma Pigmentosum (XP). It prevents me to go outside when the sun is up because It could kill me. I developed this rare disease when I was kid and it says, I got it from my mother and father. I've got an abnormal gene from them, a very rare one.

I've never been out, not even when the sun is down because I don't really have friends outside. I bet some of our neighborhood don't know I exists and would be surprised to see me if I go out.

“I can't sleep.” I whispered and got up from my bed. I went to my window, watching every people passing by and also the sun. My windows, I mean every window we've had at home is tinted to prevent the sunlight inside our house. 

I wonder how does it feel? To be out in this hour and just doing what I should supposed to do as a normal young man. I envy them a lot—they are so lucky.

For me, my life is a miracle but at the same time it's cruel. Of all out of people why me? I want to have a normal life and experience the things what other normal people do. Since I was born into this world, I'm always at home and locked up.

If I want to have a longer life, I need to protect myself.

*knock*knock*knock*

“Mom, someone's knocking on the door.” I called mom and my eyes landed on the door, thinking if I should open it or wait for my mother. Did she invite someone?

“Did you invite someone to come over?” Mom asked me as she went downstairs to check who's the person behind it.

“How I wish.” I chuckled, continuing to prepare my food.
