Description

Jongdae and his friends plan a viewing party for a rare green comet, staying up late just to witness the end of their world.

Foreword

“There’s a Star Spawn. Flip him over. What’s it say?”

Jongdae, closest to the new monster, picks up the tile and flips it over. “There’s just asterisks. ‘See the reference guide…’” He scoffs. “Okay...” Grabbing the reference book, he flips to the listed page and frowns. It looks like gibberish.

“Here.” Chanyeol reaches across the table, and Jongdae gives up the book. After some speed reading, careful reading, and slow mumbling, they’re sorted out. Nothing affects the game that round, but they know for later.

“Oh." Kyungsoo looks from the microwave clock to his phone. "The comet should be here around now.”

“Really?” Whole-heartedly abandoning their fight for the world, Baekhyun dashes to the sliding door and hauls it open. Summer is finally cooling; nighttime temperatures almost feel cold. “Where is it?”

“East.” Kyungsoo points when faced with the hopelessly blank expressions of his friends. Left, right, up, and down are their limits.

“Can it be seen without a telescope?” Chanyeol and Baekhyun eagerly scan the sky but only find two planes and what’s probably a satellite.

“Found it.” Jongdae points to their right. A tiny green speck drifts through the white stars. Its ghostly tail is barely noticeable.

Although pretty, it is a bit underwhelming.
