I - The Bet
LOSTWe don't meet people by accident. They are meant to cross path for a reason
Moonbyul has finally graduated. The last few months has been stressful to her and her friends. Countless sleepless nights, eating about 100 packs of ramen, drinking an insane amount of coffee, yeah, stress is the only word that comes to mind to her. But it doesn't matter anymore, she has fulfilled the promise that she had made to her parents 3 years ago.
"Mom, Dad, I hope you are proud of me." she smiled, "Who would've thought that naughty Byulyi would even be a summa laude." She stared at her medal for a long time, she promised to herself that she won't cry today, today is supposed to be a celebration. But promises are meant to be broken I guess, Byulyi thought. She broke down crying in front of her parents grave. Her parents passed away 3 years ago due to a car accident.
They were the dream parent anyone can ask for. She still remembers the last conversation she had with them. It was a bright sunny afternoon in one of their favorite restaurants. She had decided to come out to them and she was nervous as heck, she feels like her heart was about to jump out of her chest. "Mom, Dad. I have something to tell you."
"If you are telling us that you broke that precious vase that your grandpa made, don't worry, we know." her dad joked.
"Uh - yeah, I did broke it but that's not what I was gonna say." she said while looking down on her lap.
"Byul-ah, do not be afraid, we love you no matter what." her mom said. She looked up and saw that her mom was crying.
"How?", she asked
"Let's just call it a mother's intuition. Thank you for trusting us. I know that our society can and will be cruel, but me and your dad will always be here. No matter what they say, just remember who you are. You are wonderful, my child." her mother hugged her and she both of them started crying.
"Remember, my child, that there is nothing wrong with you. You are just perfect especially since me and your mom made you." her dad joked once again.
"DAD!! You and your awful dad jokes."
Byulyi smiled while reminiscing that moment. She can't believe she's out here in the cemetery smiling and crying both at the same time. Her quiet moment was suddenly cut off by someone.
"Hey Mr and Mrs Moon!" Wheein's loud voice reverberated in the quiet cemetery. "Don't worry about your dear daughter here. She's lucky she have us as her friends or else she would've flunked out of school"
"True," Hwasa butted in, "she always dozes off in the library when she should be studying."
"That's you Hwasa, not me."
All three of them shared a quiet moment and then they all hugged each other as they bid Byul's parents goodbye.
"So who's ready for the ultimate adventure?" Wheein excitedly said.
"Ugh, I hate it. Why did I even sign up for this?" Byul said.
"Well, a promise is a prom
