Chapter 3
Memories"Hi...Taeyeon?"
The petite highschooler turned to the voice, then her eyes went round and mouth formed an 'O' shape in surprise.
"Oh? Yeri's mom, right? How are you?" she bowed at the woman before her, "It's nice to meet you here again as I didn't get to greet you properly last time," she said with a smile, showing her pearly teeth.
"She remembers me," Tiffany commented mentally.
"Uh, y-yes," the older woman stuttered a bit and did her best to smile, fighting inwards to get rid of the daze she felt whenever she saw that girl.
"By the way, what brings you here?" Taeyeon asked, "I mean, your house is quite far from this neighbourhood, so."
"I was doing a photoshoot around this area and got in here to grab something to eat before going home, and then I saw you," Tiffany dictated the words she scripted ahead in her head.
"Oh, I see. Yeri also told me that you work as a photographer. It's cool," the senior highschooler commented with a shy grin.
"Well, thanks. Speaking of which," Tiffany hesitated, keeping her gaze on the girl in front of her, "would you like to have dinner with me somewhere around here? As I also didn't get to talk to you last time," she asked, which put a bright smile on the young girl's face.
"Are you not eating? Is the food not tasting good?" Taeyeon carefully asked the woman across her seat who seemed to be zoning out without touching her food, when in fact, the other woman had been unconsciously staring at her.
"Ah, no no, I'm eating alright. It's good," Flustered, Tiffany cut her pork chop and stuffed a few bites into . She hurriedly thought of starting a conversation with the student not to embarrass herself further, "how did you first meet our Yeri by the way?"
"In the class," Taeyeon replied calmly.
"Crap. What a dumb question, Tiffany. Of course they met in the class at school," she mentally facepalmed.
"I transferred here from Jeonju just a few months ago. Everything and everyone was so new and unfamiliar to me. But Yeri approached to me first and helped me out with a lot of things. She's a great friend. I adapted better much thanks to her," the young girl explained patiently.
"I see," Tiffany nodded, and then asked, “And...are you living with your family here?"
"Yes, Ms. Tiffany. I live with my parents here; mom, dad, and me. I'm the only child actually," Taeyeon said, before noticing herself what she said, "oh, and I hope you don't mind me calling you Ms. Tiffany as I thought you just look too young to be called auntie," she smiled shyly.
Tiffany blushed, feeling stupid at the heat creeping up her cheeks at the indirect compliment of a 15-years-old, "Sure, you can call me as you would like to."
Taeyeon grinned, which Tiffany didn't want to admit that she thought was cute, "By the way, I heard from Yeri that you were sick and had to go to the doctor on the day I came to visit. Are you feeling better now?" she asked, looking concerned.
"Yeah, I just had low blood pressure and now definitely feeling better with some rest and nutrition."
The teenager slowly nodded, "It's a relief you feel better now."
"It was a delicious meal. Thank you so much for treating me dinner and also paying for the snacks at the store," Taeyeon said, wiping with a tissue as they finished eating.
"It's my pleasure," Tiffany replied, eyeing the girl collecting her backpack and some other stuff on the table, “let's go. I'll walk you home."
"You don't have to, Ms. Tiffany. My house is just one block away from here."
"Still, it's already dark, so I'll walk with you to the front of your house."
That night, Tiffany did walk Taeyeon home, and as usual, the young student politely bowed at her before saying goodbye and entering her house.
Taeyeon was quite mature despite being young, Tiffany thought. And although a bit awkward, she didn't feel uncomfortable at all interacting with the girl like she initially assumed she would be. Instead, she thought she could get used to this even, strangely. The thought scared her a bit but she would be lying if she said she wasn't looking forward to seeing the girl again.
"Next pose! 1, 2, 3, great! Bride, please lean back into the groom's chest and hang your head a bit low, and groom, please backhug her gently. Excellent!"
The camera lights continued to flash in the studio room, as the newlyweds couple did poses with the photographer's directions.
"And that's a wrap! Thank you so much!"
Tiffany brightly smiled and thanked the newlyweds before the couple left to change clothes.
"Well done, Tiffany!"
She turned at the voice to see the operation manager Lee Donghae walking towards her with a big smile.
"Thank you, Manager-nim," she replied, which made the man's face fall.
"I told you so many times, Tiffany, that you can just call me oppa instead of being so formal," he said.
"I would prefer to stay professional with the people I deal at work, especially my higher-ups, Manager-nim," she replied, politely but firmly.
"I can't win you over, can I?" Donghae said in defeat, "anyway, wanna go to dinner with me? I know a great steakhouse in Hongdae. You love steak, right?"
The American-Korean woman scratched her head awkwardly, just wanting to leave quickly, "Thanks for the offer but
