MosquitoA broken heart is the worst. It's like having broken ribs, nobody can see it but it hurts every time you breathe -
“No but, why is someone that couldn't even walk properly like you the one to take care of me?”
“I’ve already told you, I’m your… friend.”
“Don’t I have any other friends?!”
“You sure do. In fact, it was one of them who did this to me.”
“Oh wow, they sound much cooler than you are. But just what kind of terrible deed did you do that made them beat the crap out of you?”
“…why are you always siding with other people!”
“I don’t even know you, and you look like a wimp. I’m starting to doubt if you’re really a friend of mine or are you just lying to me."
Seungwan had no response to that – because technically she is lying to Joohyun. The two of them could be called a lot of things, but friends… was not one of them. Seungwan couldn’t help but think, did Joohyun view her as a wimp before as well? But it was only out of love that she had kept it a secret? Was Joohyun actually never really satisfied with her skills in the bedroom either? But out of love kept doing it with her? Just how great was Joohyun’s love for her?!
Seungwan ran her left hand up and down her right arm. Was it time to start working out again? She should probably wait until her injured ribcage has healed first.
“The hell are you daydreaming about?”
Joohyun annoyedly glared at Seungwan who was zoning out. She doesn’t know why, but there’s an inexplicable need inside her to scold Seungwan.
“…nothing. What do you want to eat for dinner? I’ll ask Sooyoung to bring it over after she gets off work.”
“Aren’t you my friend? Shouldn’t you know what I like to eat?”
“…you can’t have anything spicy right now.”
“Then I don’t wanna eat anything.”
Joohyun rolled her eyes, and refused Seungwan’s offer to help her lie down so she could sleep. Seungwan smiled bitterly – it was bad enough that the woman in front of her had lost her memories, but why did she have to have a complete change in temperament as well? Even when they fought last time in this same exact patient’s room it wasn’t this bad. Maybe this was her so-called karma.
Given Joohyun’s injuries, there was absolutely no way that she could still make her business trip. Seungwan thought about taking her annual leave to take care of Joohyun, but was worried that the company would end up in a mess with two heads of departments going missing. Thanks to Yongsun, at least she was able to save her vacation days, suffering a broken ribcage meant that she was able to apply for medical leave instead.
Since she was hospitalized anyways, Seungwan came over to Joohyun’s room every day to pass the time. Although she glorified herself as being Joohyun’s caretaker, all she really did was delegating all the necessary tasks to Sooyoung instead. Sooyoung even started to question whether it was herself who was trying to win over Joohyun’s heart.
Joohyun’s condition wasn’t uncommon, simply put it she had suffered some head trauma. Her basic memories were still intact, such as her motor skills and cognizance, but it was the people in her life that she had completely forgotten about. The doctor said it was possible for Joohyun to regain her memories at any moment, which ignited Seungwan’s desire to be the first person that Joohyun remembered. Seungwan thought that by constantly being in close contact with Joohyun it would increase the chance of recovery, but it’s been many days and no progress has been made at all. Joohyun still treated everyone with the same nonchalance, even though Seungwan tried her best to give her hints here and there, Joohyun wasn’t able to remember anybody.
It wasn’t entirely accurate to say that Joohyun treated everyone the same –
Clearly she treated Seungwan with an abnormal amount of disdain. Her body wasn’t fully functional yet, but every day she continued to yell at Seungwan to get out of her room, even if Seungwan didn’t leave, Joohyun would just ignore her most of the time. Her cold attitude towards Seungwan was eerily similar to how Seungwan had treated her in times before. When Sooyoung brought over food for the fir
