Love We Cannot Have

4.

Seohyun never really bothered with love.

While everyone else kept busy with the four letter word--chasing it, seeking it, yearning for
it--Seohyun, on the other hand, let it exist in her world, acknowledged its existence but had
never chased it, sought it or yearned for it.

Or maybe she was too weak, afraid even, to face what it really is.

She wrote on the sides of her book (out of intent listening of course otherwise she would
never dream of desecrating them), what her Literature professor lectured once, that love is
only beautiful at a far sight, much like a beautiful forest seen from uphigh -- a paradise.
But once entered, the beautiful forest will show no mercy. It will pain you with its thorns,
scar you with its unforgiving typhoons and even threaten with its untamed beasts. So better
yet, just admire the enchanting beauty of love from a distance, than get hurt trying to be
involved in it.

And as it always was, those who keep on searching will never find it, and those that don't,
will do. Hyoyeon gets a bit upset about this one day, she who has let love slip away and is
now struggling to grasp it again keeps on failing; while here is Seohyun who doesn't even
care a bit about it has a boy stand before her, handing a bouquet of red roses and a box of
chocolates for Valentine's Day.

Unfair.

She has always been analytical and prides herself for her ability to find solutions to certain
situations but how to handle this moment, she has no idea. She politely accepts the flowers
and chocolates (maybe she can share some to her friends) because that's what social custom
dictates, right? She sees relief in his face when she takes the gifts, and then he clears his
throat in preparation for his speech, "My name is Kyuhyun. We attend five classes together,
had been grouped together a couple of times and... well I always seat at the back (he points
at it) and... uhm, you were always in my line of sight and I mean... what I mean is... I... I
guess I've fallen in crush with you because of that."

He blushes immensely, like a tomato Seohyun thinks. He continues to say why he admires
her and at times, he argues with himself, correcting his lines because, "that came out wrong!"
Finally, Kyuhyun was done with what Hyoyeon called a 'romantic gesture.' She would lie if
she say she wasn't overwhelmed and thankful and felt special by what he did, she was. It's
just that most of the time, she was staring at him and her mind was flying and her heart...
her heart was too new to romance to know how to respond.

Kyuhyun was dedicated. He surprises her just because, he volunteers on walking her home
(despite her mild protests), he sends her SMS every time. He was a good person, and one
that has grown a place in Seohyun's heart. Slowly, it was not a mere organ anymore, but
the red decorations famous during the fourteenth of February that symbols love.

But her heart never really bothered with love. Her heart is a dreamer and what is chases,
seeks and yearn for are dreams, never love; so much dreaming that it doesn't recognize
anything else but promises of tomorrow or plans to make things happen. She never chased,
sought nor yearned for love. It was never love.

So the day came when there was no Kyuhyun who would send her SMS in the mornings, no
Kyuhyun who would insist on walking her home despite his house at the opposite street, no
Kyuhyun who would give her coffee or a jacket or sweet potatoes. No Kyuhyun at all.

Now she's left wondering why in the anatomical place where her heart was supposed to be,
it seems there is only emptiness. It was pumping religiously, hard at work to keep her alive
just as she was in striving to make her dreams within reach, but it was back to being an
organ that sends blood throughout her body, nothing more.

"He took it away," Hyoyeon tells her. "When he left, he had your heart that's why you feel
empty right there." She says, pointing at her chest. Seohyun looks at it and places her fist
on top, feeling the organ beat.

So Kyuhyun took her heart away.

The unfair thing about all of these is, she was the person who decided to look at love from
afar so she wouldn't get hurt, or scarred, or pained. Still, she was lead into it, and she was
able to wander in its midst without knowing. All of a sudden, it did not so much as hurt her,
it snatched her heart and disappeared.

Seohyun never bothered with love, at least until the day Kyuhyun left and took her heart
with him. And she? She is the love Kyuhyun will never know he had.

part four: seokyu. This is probably the last from this series. Finally I can tick the Mark Story Complete box! /tears

As I have said in the Foreword, all of these were adapted from real life events (even though I have no permission from the original people >:D) Some of them don't even know I write fanfictions haha!

This series revolves around a group of friends and their love stories which happens around Valentine's Day. First was Taeyeon's hanging, incomplete, unsolved love story with Leeteuk. Next is when Jessica was able to have the love she thought she can never have even for a fleeting moment. And then Hyoyeon who was too late to say the words that could have given her the love she--in this chapter--is wanting to have again.

Last, the story of Seohyun which, now that I think about it, is quite similar to Hyoyeon's, because the two of them realized too late causing love to slip away. But Seohyun's story explored more on a person who knows nothing of love, or does not find it the most important thing in the world unlike the rest.

I know people has been asking not to make the SeoKyu's part sad like the previous ones but I still ended up writing in angst. Don't worry though, because in real life, the people who inspired this story ended up together!

Kyuhyun comes back after being gone for week(s)
and after Seohyun realized she already has feelings for him.
He knocks on her door one day and her heart leaps and comes back to life.
She opens the door to let him in, just as she allows love to enter her heart.
:)

Chapter 7: This is just.. wow! :D I love it, really. I love how you wrote it, it was explained simply but you can feel like every single detail of it. I especially love YoonHaeSica and SeoKyu story!! I thought SeoKyu really broke my heart, I really felt bad for the both of them.. but in the end they got together!! Yayy! Well I hope for Tae and Hyo, there's still that unspoken and untold future of their stories with Teukkie and Eunhyuk <33 I mean in your fic, haha *hoping* Thanks for writing this. It's beautiful :)

Chapter 7: Wow. That idea alone could also make the mentioned couples possibly true. To think that Hyoyeon broke up with that 35 y.o. prick. Hyohyuk still has a chance! ;;
