Seungwan and Seulgi have a falling out.

Sooyoung doesn't really know the details but it was along the lines of Seulgi lying to Seungwan and using her as a distraction or something.

She and Seungwan start doing bi-weekly lunches. Seungwan has more free time now that she was no longer dating Seulgi.

They start talking about deeper things, about Seungwan's sister and Sooyung's family. They bond over familial disappointments and somehow Sooyoung feels that no one else can quite understand her on the level that Seungwan can.
