Alternate universe, where a few things might work a bit differently.
Some time before the Internet, before computers, before color TV.
In a country somewhere, the cities have been ruled by criminals and corrupt politicians for a long time, until an extremist party wins the next elections. The new government quickly transforms the state into a totalitarian regime and sets out to rid the country of crime, no matter the cost. Soon the mafia bosses begin to realize it's time to forget their old traditional rivalries and to stand up and unite against the government forces. A civil war begins.
Two years since the outbreak of the war, the regime has the western half of the country firmly under control, and has taken over some of the eastern part as well, including the capital. Their forces are slowly pushing further east, threatening to overwhelm the opposition completely. But the growing support of the local population, as well as help from overseas, still gives the partisans realistic hopes for a turnaround.
The story begins when Im Yoona, the captured daugther of a mafioso killed at the beginning of the war, manages to escape a forced labor camp and is soon made an offer she would never want to refuse.

In case you're curious about morality/legality/plagiarism/blabla: The original is in graphic form, so you could say all the actual words here are mine - I actually write this up from scratch. Much of the plot follows the original, with various changes, small fixes, and parts added on. Many dialogues are preserved but the original has no English translation that I know of, so it's not copy paste or anything like that either.
I take credit for absolutely nothing at all. I'm just doing this for fun!
Foreword
Sign reads:
"ATTENTION!
Crossing FORBIDDEN!
You will be SHOT without warning!"
A cloudy day, a lone soldier is patrolling along the side of a wooden building situated on a slope. He stops and turns around at the corner, he goes back the other way. He looks down the slope, then forward again. He's whistling some melody. He reaches the other corner, stops and turns around.
A female comes up from behind. The soldier is struck in the back, he collapses and drops his rifle, his body starts rolling down the hill.
The female reaches down to pick up the rifle. She runs downhill, looking back over her shoulder. There's a river at the foot of the slope, she goes into the water, she starts swimming.
She comes out on the other side, still holding onto the rifle. She looks up and looks around. It's Im Yoona.
She goes up the bank, there's a forest ahead. She starts running.
"Hands up!" a man calls out. He is aiming a gun at Yoona.
Yoona stops, turns around. There's more people coming from out of the trees, armed, dressed in civilian clothes.
"Drop your weapon," another man says.
She drops the rifle and raises her hands in the air.
