“Wait, what? Are you serious?”

You glance sideways at Jaehyun, peeling your eyes momentarily away from the TV screen and with a succinct nod, said, “Yes.”

He blinked slowly, looking confused for a while before glancing at Taeyong who nodded at him, too, confirming his unspoken question. Jaehyun’s wary eyes returned to you, disbelief coloring his expressions as he watched you blindly press on the controller of your game console.

“So, you’re back together with him? Officially?” he asked, referring to your on again, off again boyfriend. “I thought you were fixing things…”

“That’s what I said.”

“So you could break up with him!” he retorted.

Your hands stopped on the controller just as Taeyong prepared to get between you and Jaehyun if needed. You two were caustic as you were fond of one another. Too fond, really.

You shrugged. “Shouldn’t you be happy for me, Jae?”

He shook his head. “I can’t say I am if I’m not, and I’m not.”

“Fine.”

“Fine.” He stood up and left, slamming the door in his wake.

You glanced at Taeyong then who picked up his controller again. “Don’t look at me. I’m not happy either.”
